Final Fantasy V Is Confirmed For European PlayStation Network Release, Too

A few short hours after Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy V is hitting the PlayStation Network in Japan, Square Enix Europe have made their own announcement, confirming that Europeans can hope to see the game sometime in the future, too.

Similar to Final Fantasy III (the fourth game didn’t include it), Final Fantasy V has a Job system, consisting of 22 jobs. Final Fantasy V also let you transfer abilities between jobs.

Square Enix Europe haven’t announced a release date for Final Fantasy V yet, just that “the game is currently being arranged for a release.”

  • I loved the job system in 5. 6 with 5’s job system would be my ideal FF.

  • The people want a PSP remake along with 3 & 6.

    • [The Hunter] Doomrider

      They’re saving those for the 3DS =P

      • Then release them on NGP. as long as they are 2d-HD like FF1, 2 & 4.

      • What’s funny is that will probably happen too (as 3D remakes) lol

I would pay a lot for 5 and 6 nicely remade. PSP suffers from lack of a classic RPG with good 3d graphics.

A remake using Dissidia character style models for PSP or NGP would be nice

  • A shiny remake of V, whether 2D or 3D, would be much better. Seriously, V is so much fun and it’s the debut of the iconic character known as Gilgamesh. Why doesn’t it get shown more love?

I’ll be getting this then :)

  • I really tried to like V, but the story was so bad from the beginning, I couldn’t play more than a few hours of it before I couldn’t continue. When you can ride a meteor to another world and then use the exact same currency of your world to buy goods and services, my suspension of disbelief shattered into a million little pieces and I couldn’t go on.

    • It’s not like 4 was any less trivial on the whole. At least 5 didn’t take itself too seriously. More importantly though, the gameplay was tops.

      • I have plenty of complaints about IV, believe me, but, at least, I was able to play that to completion, even if I got to the point where I wouldn’t bother leveling up my characters anymore, because I never knew if they were going to die two hours after they joined my party.

IV is an overrated game, IMO, but V is just…bad. The gameplay could have been the greatest for an RPG ever, but I never got more than a few hours before I just couldn’t play anymore. As I said elsewhere, I play RPG’s for the story. A good story will allow me to deal with poor gameplay in an RPG (see: Xenosaga II). I can’t deal with the opposite as well, though. Eternal Sonata had an awesome battle system, but I couldn’t wait for the game to end because of the story. With V, I just…I couldn’t.

    • I’m feeling pretty much the same as you. The story was lacking and I couldn’t continue playing after 3 hours. I’ll probably give it a final chance with this.
