Namco Bandai have a lot of Tekken projects in development. In addition to Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken X Street Fighter, they’re also releasing a 3D CG-animated Tekken film, titled Tekken: Blood Vengeance.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance is coming this summer. The film’s screenplay is being written by Dai Sato, who penned the Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo anime series.

Without watching it: great CG, lousy story.

After watching: Who cares if its story’s lousy if those action scenes deliver…

    • At least it’ll have more potential than the tekken anime movie…

Well look at that, even youtube didn’t want that poor excuse of a movie in their website, they even went as far as to say that the video was terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement. Well played youtube, well played.

Really!? It’s no longer active? I just copied and pasted the Youtube link for “Tekken Stupidity”. Sorry if I posted a link that wasn’t working. I’m still in the office so there’s no way for me to check if the video was still running.

Man, that sucks. And I was really looking forward to watch it again when I got back home.

Yeah but…King of Fighters live action movie makes the Tekken live action movie seems like Oscar material

Well, Dai Saito gives me a bit of hope! SAC was great, and I know a bunch of people who love Cowboy Bebop. Although, he is working with the Tekken universe… :p

Don’t forget Samurai Champloo, another awesome anime that’s also written by Dai Sato.

        • PrinceHeir

          Samurai Champloo is amazing :D

would love to have another anime as mix as that.

I don’t know……doing a tale about these gals and dudes who look like they belong in other fighting games — but don’t — might allow for some measure of pathos as they quest to discover themselves.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

  • PrinceHeir

i knew the people that did RE Degeneration are behind this.

guess this is way to compensate with the awful live action movie.

cannot wait for this, hope they keep JPN voice actors intact. specifically Jin and Kazuya :D

    at 1:10..

    is that Devil Kazuya O_O

  • Dare I say it? IT’S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

When you try too hard to make a game’s story “look” like a story, just make a movie out of it.

  • Can’t wait for “Tekken: We’ve Finally Given Up On Sub-Titles”

  • *PERMADEATH* Dreams really do come true.

I loved the animated Tekken movie.

  • RagnaXBL

    This film will be sick

  • Yui

    >Tekken movie

I really, really want to say “pick one”. Especially after the travesty that was the last two Tekken movies. :P

  • This is the direction video game films should go in, at least in my opinion. You produce a product that has a much smaller chance of failing, it’s cheaper, and you can stay true to the spirit of the game without being compared to a live action production in some ways.

I thought Resident Evil Degeneration, despite its less than great CG work, was leaps and bounds better than the live action films.

I would love to see more of this.

    • That’s true to almost all games, some of them though could be great hollywood movies if made right, I personally really liked the Prince of Persia movie, and I can see how awesome God of War or Uncharted could be if produced by the right people, with the right actors and enough budget.

That said yes, I agree Tekken is one of those games which work better if it is a CG movie, like almost any crazy game franchise.

      • The problem is that in trying to adapt a lot of these games for a wider audience, they decide to go in a completely different direction. Look at Uncharted and how THAT’S looking for proof. Haha.

  • Trying to make up for the live action movie?

  • I’m actually glad to see that they’re branching out in more than just variations of the game. Looks watchable, that’s all that matters to me in the long run.

Now we just need the same people to do a Virtua Fighter CG movie since that game series barely has any story

  • Love Tekken. But it does not have an interesting story at all. Same goes for the Live Tekken Film the fightings was all there is to watch. I rather watch some SF3 or SC1-2 CGI Film though.

Ah Cool. I guess I can now talk about this one. http://radiodmg.com/?p=181 This project and the related game are the audio that had to be removed from this interview. The work on an English dub for this puppy is already underway.

  • The story may not be amazing but I still very much approve of this

  • thebanditking

might be ok, I mean it couldn’t be as bad as the 90’s Tekken anime could it (which was clearly trying to cash in on the awesome SFII movie). I just hope this gets released on Blu-ray.

  • YES!

I had a feeling about this when Harada panned the live-action movie.

  • ummmmm why tekken movies dont have lili..
