Don’t Expect Any E3 Announcements From Xseed

By Spencer . May 20, 2011 . 1:32pm

image While Xseed has been an E3 exhibitor before, the publisher will not have a booth or even private meeting rooms this year. Siliconera confirmed Xseed, who has been awfully quiet, will not showcase any titles during E3.

As of now, the only announced games from Xseed are Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls (slated for a spring release on PSN) and The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter, which has been discussed a bit on the company’s Facebook page.

Last year, Xseed brought Yuji Naka to Los Angeles to talk about Ivy the Kiwi and had playable builds of Ys games at E3. In 2009, Xseed presented Fragile Dreams and made a big push for Little King’s Story. Xseed still has a strong relationship with Nihon Falcom and you’ll hear more about Falcom’s plans soon.

Wizardry is STILL a spring release? I hope so. If that is the case, I actually MIGHT have something to hold me over until Catherine.

Yeah, information has been pretty scarce. I’m thinking they just don’t want to give a date while the PSN store is still down since they don’t know when it will be back up.

The PSN should be up in a matter of days now, but it would still not be ideal.

Sony will have a huge backlog to upload in a matter of few weeks, and like Housemarque said, any game launched during the backlog rush period will have its legs cut off quickly, due to so many other releases piling up after it.

So I guess Xseed is waiting until that situation cools down.

        •  At least it wasnt out yet like AH3… I feel so bad for Aksys releasing that only to have PSN go down like what, the next day? Plus the whole confidence issue… I am sure PSN sales will be down a bit overall for a while. ( Not trying to be anti-PSN, but even a 10% drop in sales can impact the smaller guys )

Should have released it at retail like in Europe.

          •  I doubt that was their call TBH. Some people seem to blame Aksys for it, but I would bet money that it was an IP or contractual issue of some sort.

At this point its likely no one really knows

      Just play Akiba’s Trip

  • XSEED is out.  Valve is out.

    Anyone else?

    •  Rockstar too, from what I’ve heard.

    •  Valve just isn’t having it’s own booth, I wouldn’t be suprised (and I secretly hope) if Valve showed up during one of the keynotes

Maybe they are gonna do something with Microsoft this time. Fable 3 coming out on Steam was quite surprising. A sign of things to come?

Wizardry is all I can think of from them. I’d love to see more PS3 games from them though. Here’s hoping for next year.

“you’ll hear more about Falcom’s plans soon.”

!!!  Now this is the exciting part of the post to me…  We know they’re working on some sort of new Ys game (please don’t be an iPhone game).  We know they’re working on a launch/near launch NGP game that may or may not be the same barely discussed Ys title.  But I can’t wait to hear more about those and maybe other games.

As my faithfulness to Square-Enix has waned a bit in the past year or two, Falcom has somewhat replaced them in the JRPG portion of my heart.  And Xseed has proved to be a wonderful partner by just doing an amazing job with their four Falcom releases so far.

Here’s hoping whatever Falcom does next, Xseed localizing the game will be a part of the plan.  And on that note, as I always mention to make sure Xseed and anyone else sees it out there…  Pleasepleaseplease Xseed localization of Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki after finishing up the Trails in the Sky trilogy!

    • I worry for western region PSP after they finish TitS…
Whatever, I agree.  More Falcom in the west the better.

That’s okay @XSEEDGames:twitter . I rather you guys be lovey-dovey with Nihon Falcom in a private room somewhere.

No feelings hurt here as long as you have something awesome coming up. May I suggest getting Falcom to let you port Zero no Kiseki to English? or how about bugging GameArts to port Lunar: Eternal Blue or go make a Lunar 3. Or even more exiting, go wrestle SRW:OG on PS3 from Namco Bandai.

These are all fine activites for what to do when not attending E3.

i expect them maybe TGS? :P

  • Im expecting the world from them anyway, so it’s ok :D
