  • Level-5 is win. I’ve mostly played their rpgs, but man.  Dragon Quest 8 and 9 own their places in the series. Dark Cloud one and two are phenomenal.  Rogue galaxy was a solid game as well. It didn’t hold my attention though.

  • Zero_Destiny

Not really a surprise. I suppose this is just another part of the “Four Ultimate projects” they were talking about. I still can’t believe Sunrise actually letting someone else touch the Gundam (anime) franchises. This is a first I’ve remember this ever happening. I’m really curious about this new anime Level-5 has in the works.

The rage surrounding AGE is amusing. Having just watch the PV, I’m actually looking forward to it- at least more than I would if it were a “normal” gundam.

      • There’s rage about it? The few people I know that know of the show seem pretty excited about it, myself included. That said damn NicoNico, I can’t watch there. >__<

        • Zero_Destiny

Yeah all of us on Twitter are really looking forward to it. I think this anti-“Kiddie” thing most people seem to be on about nowadays is probably where the rage comes from. Just like how everyone hated Yu-Gi-Oh ZeXal without even watching it because they “kiddiefied” it. Whelp too bad ZeXal is awesome and I think this show will be too. Some people just don’t like the idea of a young cast I guess. I don’t know why personally.

          • Exkaiser

It’s not even like the cast is that young. Frito is 14, same age as, oh, Judau.

None of the three main characters are even as young as Usso. It’s just the way they look.

Personally, the designs of the side characters give me a kind of 70’s super robot show cast vibe, and I’m okay with this.

          • Zero_Destiny

Yeah I was just saying how the show kinda reminded me of Dendoh and felt it was rather throwback sounding. That’s awesome if you ask me. Personally I like the chara designs. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. They look nice to me. Some people will just find  any excuse to complain I guess. Besides Gundam is home to so many kid geniuses and ace pilots already so I think the too young complaint doesn’t work ether. Some people just don’t know how to have fun I guess.

          • Guest

Its actually giving me a mid 90’s Yuusha feel. Not really feeling the design on the kids. Looks like Inazuma Eleven meets Gundam.  Unicorn was good. They need to keep Gundam more in that sense. More class.

          • Exkaiser

@cowcowcow:disqus I don’t see why they can’t do both at the same time. Like, you know, they are doing, by doing bother Unicorn and AGE at the same time.

Regardless I fail to see how Brave similarities would be a bad thing in any regard. I say we bring on the sentient, transforming Gundams with the child sidekicks. …Er, well, Unicorn already fits two of those, I guess.

        • Exkaiser

4chan and 2chan are raising a big stink about it. There’s a 1700 post stick on /m/ and a bunch of other scattered threads with a bunch of people crying “boo hoo gundam is dead,” and apparently there’s much the same over on the other side of the pond. Some guy from Bandai’s toy division got fed up with it and made a post telling people off on Facebook, apparently.

Of course, not all of /m/ is raising a stink, but the whiners are very, very loud.

Well, this happens every time a new Gundam is revealed, so…

          • Ah I see, well but it is /m/ after all, it wouldn’t be the same side when there weren’t rage filled people, who like to bash everything new just for the heck of it…

      • Zero_Destiny

Hm Very interesting. People are ragging about it already? I’m very curious about it. Can’t wait to see the PV, but yeah I don’t know anything about Japanese websites. Looks like I’ll have to wait until it hits youtube. lol Anyways though I have high hopes myself. On top of that the mecha designs look amazing!!! I like that the Gundam can change forms too. The hundred year war and other homage to original UC Gundams is interesting to me too. I’m very interested indeed.

EDIT: Never mind Raioh was able to find a link. For those less Japanese Savvy just click on this video and let it buffer up. (It took awhile to buffer but there it is the PV for the new Gundam. Also once the video starts hit the little bubble to make all the words clogging up the video [annotations] go away).

It looks pretty great. That PV’s got me super excited now. :D Gundam AGE really looks like the RX-78 to me and the animation looks pretty top-notch so far. Plus the enemies can morph forms. That’s so cool. This Gundam is looking to be pretty good. XD

        • Scrooge_McDuck

I just hope that the enemies would not simply be “monster invaders”. Gundam has almost always be about the futility of war. Removing humanity from one side of the war would greatly reduce the impact, I think.

Stinks about art direction were always raised throughout the series, though. People were also enraged about the “bishification” of the last three titles.

          • Guest

            yeah that sucked

          • Exkaiser

I’m pretty certain the UE will still be piloted machines- they’re described as “alien-like,” and they’re clearly mechanical.

  • To quote a IIDX song, “MAKE IT MAKE MONEY!”

With that out of the way, since Namco Bandai, by default, has US rights of Gundam (via Bandai Entertainment and their game division), if not outright own it, they should have an easy time marketing this.

  • godmars

    Don’t be 3DS, don’t be 3DS, don’t be 3DS…

No offense to the 3DS – I rather just see it on the PSP, PSVita or PS3/360.

    • Tommy Lee

      http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WagNqt1hFCo/TfBvjI3HbZI/AAAAAAAAFyw/lRe13MjP3Ow/s1600/gundam-age-3.jpg Bottom right corner.

Edit: Wait. I might be wrong… But these few pages in the magazine. are dedicated to the project… What does the text say in that bottom box?

      • I think it’s just talk about Level-5’s other projects like Inazuma Eleven and The Little Battlers.

        • Tommy Lee

Oh. You’re right. I need to wear my glasses more often. =P

    • alundra311

No offense too, but, what’s wrong if it comes out for the 3DS?

      • One of the biggest problems is the Region Lock I assume? Gundam games tend to not be localized so we would miss out on this game. If it does get localized I wouldn’t care either way, Gundam is Gundam, the console doesn’t matter~

        • alundra311

That makes sense, assuming his problem is the Region Locking. As for the game, since the developer is Level-5, this might turn out good. Hopefully, more info becomes available soon.

      • godmars

Region issue mostly, but also the selfish excuse that I doubt I’ll being buy one.

Would also like to think that if this Gundam is a big multi-media project, is being aimed at a young audience, it’ll be multi-country as well.

Just hope its not too kiddy…

        • alundra311

Thanks for clarifying. Even though I rarely import games, I still think region locking really sucks.

Since it’s an RPG, I doubt it’ll be too kiddy (just my 2 cents). I just hope the game will be good and multi-platform so that everyone gets a chance to play it.

  • PrinceHeir

    my bad..

it seems this is actually a collection of all the gundams.

hmm can’t wait for this ^^

any other games you want to reveal Level 5???

    Dragon Que–

    please :P

  • I hope this will be an epic RPG like other Level-5 projects, would love to have a good Gundam RPG at last!

    • DanteJones

A bit off topic (and I can’t find a “send message” function) but hey Raioh, have you listened to that fan rendition of DaiRaiOh’s theme?

      • No I don’t think so, but I’m quite interested.

        • DanteJones

Gahhhhh, sorry it took so long, forgot the entire damn title was in kanji haha. But check it out!

EDIT: Oh, and he has a couple other ones up there like Over the World Wall. :D

          • Wow, man that was awesome!! I totally dig the guitar and everything else too, to be honest, now I don’t know which of the various versions I like the most dammit!! >__< Thanks for the link, I'll listen to the other ones as well. :D

          • DanteJones

Yeah no problem man, but yeah the guitar version is definitely my favorite so far. xD

          • Exkaiser

The first half is a pretty normal take on the theme, but then at the halfway mark it starts improv-ing and gets awesome.

    • kupomogli

So I’m guessing you’ve never played MS Saga?

I dislike the Super Robot Wars games with some characters and suits overpowered, others are just worthless to use and once you have too many characters to pull out at one time then you don’t use them.

MS Saga might have a pretty poor storyline, but the gameplay is really fun.

      • Ha, I indeed never played or heard of MS Saga, thanks for the info, will check it out!

As for SRW, well I won’t disagree that some units end up being pretty useless, but you have to keep in mind that it’s pretty much just a big fanservice game for mech lovers. The overpowered units are a classic for the game too, and I wouldn’t want it any other way as I surely don’t want getting Shin Getter killed by some faceless grunts, lol. The story is on the really good side too, it’s well thought out and you see that the ones working on it know what they are doing. That said SRW is no classic RPG which is what I’m looking for here, so again thanks for the info on MS Saga~

        • kupomogli

Hope you like it.  It’s got a good deal of strategy in battle and out of battle.  Pretty decent amount of customization on swapping out parts and weapons on suits, etc.

It’s also cheap so that’s another plus :P.

      • Guest

I didn’t like that game. Well…almost as much as I didn’t like Virtua Quest (The Virtua Fighter RPG)

      • Exkaiser

I dunno, I use characters like Keith and Noin all the time in SRW… and I avoid the overpowered issue by not upgrading anyone.

  • ShinGundam

    Kill it with fire.

  • Crimson_Cloud

I hope it’s on the PSP. Well, whatever the case, I’m hoping that this will be on an epic scale. Throw in a good gameplay, engaging story and multiple endings and I’m game.

  • Roll Out On PSP Please, :D

  • kroufonz

don’t really interested about this yet, the mecha design is quite meh, and the fact of level 5 doing this maybe this will be more targeted toward younger audience.

still waiting for more detail first

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Well, it’d probably be targeted toward a  younger audience anyways; the anime itself is targeted more towards the youngins this time around

      • Guest

I didn’t like Seed or Seed Destiny. Gundam needs to be more serious. Like Kill em all Tomino serious. Not kiddy and not new wave Anime art style either. Bring back the 80’s look and war, death and carnage lol

        • Exkaiser

Serious like White Base Needs Salt serious?

Man, Tomino Gundam sure was serious.

    • LynxAmali

Uh…Have you seen that trailer? Other than the character designs, this is Victory NEO. The kid sees his mother die under a pile of burning rubble. Even Japan has censorship laws for kids.

hoping that this comes over as it’s Level. 5 and they’ve been pretty good so far, what with Layton. Really hope they bring Danball Senki over too though.

  • XypherCode

the mech almost looked like Exia and the 0 gundam put together. they should’ve made it more original for the series.

  • mario_0345

I hope you can make franken gundams, like you were able to in MSsaga A new Dawn.

  • Your best bet is to import this game. It’s not coming out over here. Gundam is pretty much dead ever since Seed aired on Cartoon Network.

Still I’m not to sad about it. This game really looks like Pokemon meets Gundam which I’m not feeling at all.

    • eilegz

after watching the trailer, it reminds me a lot of seed and 0079 which its not a bad thing….

    • 00 was on Sci-fi and did really well. Even did season2.

  • Well, the characters have the right age for a typical Level 5 game…

  • I’ll just cry if it doesn’t come to the NA region since I hate reading then translating it.
