20 Years Of Mana In One Super-Sized Sountrack

By Spencer . June 28, 2011 . 12:30pm

manaThis year is the 25th anniversary of Dragon Quest, Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th birthday, and the 20th anniversary of the Mana series.

Instead of a compilation of Mana games, Square Enix has a encyclopedia-like soundtrack for fans to pick up. The 20 disc collection has songs from:

– Final Fantasy Adventure

– Secret of Mana

– Seiken Densetsu 3 (unreleased overseas)

– Dawn of Mana

– Sword of Mana

– Legend of Mana

– Children of Mana

– Heroes of Mana

Also included are two arrange albums for Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy Adventure plus a bonus DVD with a Mana medley performed by an orchestra and video interviews. The package costs 21,000 yen ($260) and will be available in Japan on September 14.

  • SoM getting an arrange is nice, for a large amount of reasons.  Shame there’s nothing on SD3 getting an arrange, though.  Then again, all the music to the above are great.

    • The SoM album is most likely to be Secret of Mana +, a new-ageish arrange album from 1995 (check http://www.soundtrackcentral.com/cds/seikendensetsu2_somp.htm for more details)

  • This is droolworthy.

  • puchinri

    Sweet baby Jesus… I really want that…

  • Was Saving up money for PS VITA but F it!!

gonna get this instead XD! huge mana fan since day 1

    A Dream come true!

now all we need is a mana collection pack of the originals SOM SOM 2(AKA SOM3)

Makes the collector in me want to hurt my wallet, but this also doesn’t speak well for the Mana series. Capcom did the same for Breath of Fire and they have since completely given up on the franchise.

Come on S-E, I am not asking for a new Mana game, we all know you suck at those, but I would really like to see a remake of Seiken Densetsu 3. DON’T do anything to the story, just update the graphics and make it legally available on the 3DS or the PSV or something.

  • Rciwws

    That is legit.

  • kupomogli

I’d rather have a compilation of Mana games. Well. I’d rather have a compilation of good Mana games, so PSP release of FFA, SoM, SD3, and LoM would be great. When I say FFA, a remake similar to Mana Mobile rather than Sword of Mana we received for the GBA which just wasn’t as fun as the original.

      this please ^^

  • Still waiting on a SD3 port… 15 years now :(

  • Oh man, I am reeeeeally tempted to grab this. The mana series has always had some excellent music, and on top of owning all the OSTs, the call of those arranged albums is -very- strong.

  • The Mana series has some of the best music in RPG history. I’d be a damn fool to pass it up and listen to some of the best nostalgia of all time.

  • Nice! ! !

  • YsyDoesIt

That’s $260 worth of awesome right there. The one saving grace of the entire series has been it’s music.

  • The Mana series might just be the most celebrated mediocre RPG series of all-time. I have enjoyed the music, though.

  • hush404

    I don’t have $260 to drop on music… but I kinda wish I did.
