Hear Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked With Japanese Voiceovers

By Spencer . June 30, 2011 . 2:31pm

Voice acting is one of the new features Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked. Atlus USA already shared a teaser of the Nintendo 3DS version with English voiceovers. Now hear the game in Japanese.

Devil Survivor Overclocked has 20,000 words – more voiced dialogue than any Atlus game to date. Ayako Kawasumi who’s credits include Melfina from Outlaw Star and more recently Saber in Fate/Zero plays Yuzu. Atsuro’s voice actor is Atsushi Abe, the voice of Toma in A Certain Magical Index and Inzaghi in Sting’s Blaze Union.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked comes out on September 1 in Japan, but North America gets the game first on August 23.

  • 20,000? Reminds me that Skyrim has over 44K lines. I love voice acting. The JPN VA sounds familar to recent animu Im watching but I cant pin it. lol.

    • mirumu

You watch Seiken no Qwaser if I recall? Ayako Kawasumi voices Miyuri.

      • Oh snaps!!!! THanks! ^_^

      • epy

I wish her voice was not tied to that anime. Kawasumi Ayako will always be Mahoro in my mind.

        • mirumu

I get where you’re coming from. She really was great as Mahoro. I don’t think I could pick just one role myself though as she’s given many a great performance.

  • Shinji Kazuya

As expected of Japanese Voice Actors. Perfectly done as always.

The original Devil Survivor never came to Europe. I imported the original from North America, thanks to the DS being region free. It’s really a great strategy RPG, not to mention the awsome story. Overclocked is gonna be even more awsome with voices, more demons and the 8th day.
    Too bad I’ll probably never play it thanks to the 3DS being region locked. The only option left is some company bringing it over here which I don’t think will happen (looking at the original Devil Survivor). ;_;

stop trying to drain my vita funds japan!!!!!!! Though i suppose its my fault for buying a 3ds in the first place

  • mirumu

I’m quite a fan of Ayako Kawasumi, but her interpretation of the character here is a bit too focused on her higher register for my tastes. Not how I imagined Yuzu would sound. Still a quality peformance otherwise though. Shows her versatility. Nice job by Atsushi Abe. He seems a perfect match.

    • Shinji Kazuya

Atsushi Abe is one of my favourite voice actors ever since I started watching
Toaru Majutsu no Index three years ago. His voice is just too cool.

  • Touma in my Devil Survivor Overcloked? Does Atsuro say “Such misfortune” in one of his lines?

    • Shinji Kazuya

Omae no gensou bukoashite aru! IMAGINE BREAKER!

  • AnimeRemix

    Love Naoyo’s vocie! =D

  • cj_iwakura

Sounds way better than the dub, and I’m seldom a purist about these things.

    • Chippel

      English Yuzu sounded *really* cheesy.

Although personally, I don’t like these voices much either. I’ll stick to the DS version, I guess.

  • omg…i can’t believe i’m going to miss out on Saber and Touma voicing Yuzu and Atsuro… ;_;

  • Ren

Oh, so they changed Yuzu’s seiyuu from the Drama CD. Sad, since I though it fit her better. I can’t tell if they changed Naoya’s or not. Oh well, at least it’s better than the Izaya voice he had on the Drama CD.

The subbed introduction and the cast list of the Drama CD’s cast for those who want.

  • XypherCode

Some very familiar Seiyuus here :P

  • Shadow_Raskolnik

Hm, Yuzu’s voice seems like it’s the same old stereotypical high-pitched schoolgirl voice. As for Naoya and Atsuro, they sound better then Yuzu.

  • AzureNova

It looks and sounds good for the most part (looks at Yuzu) lol, but I cant wait until more English dubbed trailers come out so i can compare. Either way I cant wait to get Overclocked and Devil Survivor 2 when they come out =^_^=

  • Nice. I’m really looking forward to this!

  • we’ll get this in europe???

  • PrinceHeir

    sooo lovely O_O
