One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP Sails To Europe This Year

By Ishaan . June 30, 2011 . 11:02am

One Piece: Unlimited Cruise SP won’t be relegated to Japan much longer; Namco Bandai have the Nintendo 3DS game planned for a European release this year, and released a debut trailer for it which you can watch above.

If you haven’t kept up, Unlimited Cruise SP is a compilation of the two Unlimited Cruise games previously released on the Wii. If you happen to own a 3DS and are curious to see what it looks like, we posted a few 3D screenshots of Unlimited Cruise SP earlier in the year.

The Ganbarion-developed game is slated for release in Europe this November.

  • I wonder if it will be english dubbed? If I recall, the last one that released in Europe wasnt.

    • AnimeRemix

This will most likely have the japanese audio with English subtitles like the last one’s released on Wii for Europe. T_T

      • Thats kind of lazy. They could have at least dubbed it or something. Profit margin must be quite low then.

        • AnimeRemix

If they was to dub, they would most likely have to get FUNimation to dub. Sadly (and unfortunately), seems like FUNimation only dubbed 1 One Piece game, and that was One Piece: Unlimited Adventure.

I actually hoping the leave the japanese VAs and keep it subbed.

I don’t think it’s lazy at all, I mean I’m talking from experience: I played the original Unlimited Cruise and all I have to say is that the dub was unbeareable (Damn it, Chopper -___-).

Still the multiplayer was good but the true reason someone may like it is because of all the “dream matches” you can make. Apart from that, the characters rooster felt kind of…… unbalanced? The characters you would expect to be half decent felt pretty  dumbed down.

Example: A friend of mine felt that using Whitebeard would give him somekind of advantage (The, The, The Strongest Man in the World…..right? ). Needless to say, CAptain Moustache attacks when predictable and not very practical. Aaaaaand I wiped his sorry butt with Crocodile (which happens to be a very decent character – not the strongest or fastest – but still with decent offensive and defensive stats)

…:( The first 3DS game where I curse region locks.

Oh well, glad Europe can get this game at least! Maybe I can mooch off my British friend some day. :P

  • malek86

Any reviews for this? There is a Naruto game for the 3DS in Europe too, but I heard it’s pretty bad. I don’t really trust anime games.

    • Naruto 3D Era came out?

      • malek86

I saw it in the used games section of my local store, for a relatively low price too, just 25€. But reading some reviews has put me off the game. And I never cared much about Shippuuden anyway.

    • Yeah… Generally, it’s the relatively good ones from Japan that get released in the West, though this is not always the case. There was a period where I was pretty focused on finding out about Japanese Anime/Manga-based (licensed) games. …Dang. Some of them were fine enough, some of them were passable for a fan, and a few of them… just makes me wonder why the developers even bothered.

I did want to look further into visual-novels based on franchises, like Rosario+Vampire or Hayate no Gotoku, but I didn’t know Japanese back then.

    • No review, but a recomendation based on the original versions: Relatively simple 3rd person
action adventure games with Metroid-esque exploration and item crafting similar to Gust’s games. The crafted items unlock new attacks or open more areas to explore. Combo bonuses, fishing, bug hunting and crew interaction add some variety. Switching characters on the fly prevents stages from becoming too stale. Music is fine, voice acting is outstanding. There are also plenty of hidden areas and bossfights.

Easily the best anime games I’ve played this generation, and I strongly dislike (that’s as tame as I can write it) the source material. These games are the reasons I have so much interest in Pandora’s Tower.

The only grieves I have with the games are the camera (far from Ninja Gaiden levels though), some frame rate drops in part 1 and some item fetching here and there.

  • And no news for the US ;_;

  • RagnaXBL

And this is why i’m glad i got a 3DS

  • Shinji Kazuya

    0:23-0:24 Luffy: RASENGAN!!!

As a fan of One Piece, I think I might get it since I passed the 2 on the Wii and this happens to be a compilation of both and all.

  • Oh please let this be good for NA

  • Europe again? I remember the two games on the Wii released for EU first; not sure if US got them as well. And of course, since this is 3DS, importing is still impossible.

Will there be any changes made though? I haven’t tried the 2nd game, but I remember the VS mode on the 1st game being… unbalanced, to say the least. Not to mention it was pretty much unnecessary.

  • Oh god! One Piece ;)
I remember watching this as a kid, and even now a days! Haha, I even had
tears in my eyes when I saw how Akainu killed Ace*sob*. Personally, I think this is by far one of the strongest and greatest Animes of all time!…..but I kinda have my doubts with this game :/ I truly hope they make one for PsVita, imagine using the touch screen to stretch Luffy’s arms and attack, or the gyro-sensor to control the Ship!*drool (゚∀゚)*

    • Shinji Kazuya

YES! One Piece is, without a doubt, one of the greatest Animes of all time! It’s story is great and it’s battles are awsome and epic!

  • AnimeRemix

And seems like America will miss out on another One Piece game… SMH…

  • mikanko

<3 How it looked like Boa Hancock is playable during the white beard arc.

Hancock x Luffy best one sided relationship in manga/anime history! Kotono Mitsuishi ftw!

  • Chaheezor

YEEEEES!! Finally, the first 2 Wii games are incredibly rare and expensive (due to rarity) but now we have another chance!

  • Optical_Matrix

Good news for us European gamers again. Been happening a lot recently haha The 3DS is really bringing it software wise in Q4. Mario Kart 3D, Super Mario Bros. 3D, Starfox 64, Kid Icarus, Tales of Abyss and now this. Can’t wait. I had the first game for Wii imported from the US but accidentally updated my console so the freeloader stopped working. Would love to revisit this on my 3DS. November can’t come soon enough. Thank you Bamco!

  • You know, I’d rather have Unlimited Adventure localized (with the JP dub). That’s an all new game for us instead of just a bonus quest. And there must be some demand of these games here as both Unlimited Cruise games saw multiple print runs and were also sold as a double pack.

  • F* you Nintendo for Region lock!

  • MisterDandylion

OK, question time!: Is it me ( I hope so) or this trailer just suck the life out the game? o.O

All I’m saying is that the japanese one had more spirit, that’s all  :(

  • By the way, when’s Gigant Battle coming out? As good as this is, Gigant seems infinitely more worth my time.

  • landlock

Strike 3…. things are looking good for the list of games put up. :)

  • XypherCode

    ok here we go again….
i just hope it reaches NA
