Hey Europe, Xenoblade Chronicles Is Arriving Two Weeks Early

By Ishaan . July 8, 2011 . 8:27am

Nintendo of Europe originally announced Xenoblade Chronicles for a September 2nd release, but, for some reason, they’ve pulled that date forward to August 19th.

They also point out that the number of red Classic Controller Pro pre-order bundles with the Takahashi-signed posters is limited, so if you’re looking to grab one of those, you’d best do it soon. Something else to note is that they specifically point out Game.co.uk as a retailer you can pre-order the special bundle from.

  • DanteJones

Nice, good to hear for our EU brethren. :D

  • JustaGenericUser

I think I’m starting to know how Europe feels to be denied a game.

    • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

Yes. This is our punishment for gloating about it. So I don’t see how anyone in America could be complaining about how they’re not getting it instead of just being happy that at least someone is.

      • http://twitter.com/Paradox_me Paradox me

I am glad that Europe is getting the game (if it hadn’t happened I wouldn’t be able to import :P), but to say other territories shouldn’t complain and just be happy that someone is getting the game is asking a bit much, don’t you think?

I don’t think most folks in Europe shrugged off games like Chrono Trigger simply because someone else gets to enjoy it.

Not that it really matters, because I think Nintendo of America always had plans to release Xenoblade and The Last Story and this whole Operation Rainfall thing will be quite embarrassing afterward.

        • DanteJones

There’s a bit of a rumor floating around from an apparent “leak” that was sent to the Operation Rainfall guys from a Nintendo insider apparently. Dunno if it’s true or not, but there’s hope. :D

          • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

I really hope Operation Rainfall is totally humbled for wasting their time trying to tell other companies how to run their businesses.

          • RupanIII

From what I’ve seen, outside of the some usual forum bile, Operation Rainfall has been quite proper and polite, making a request/plea, not an entitled demand as you seem to characterize it. Just as companies have whatever right to release or not release something, so to do consumers have the right to voice their opinions. Furthermore, there is precedent for consumer feedback campaigns having an impact (campaign to bring back Coke Classic after New Coke came out, Futurama and Family Guy cancellations/revivals, etc.)

          • DanteJones

I’ll admit, it’d be pretty funny if NoA had plans to bring them over this whole time, kinda like with Atlus and Catherine lol.

        • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

I don’t think it’s too much. In fact, I think this has been a long time coming. I’ve come to terms with the truth that I don’t always get what I want long ago and I wish everyone else would, too. Most of the other commenters here are congratulating Europe for something they got without effort, so it turns out it’s not so hard to just be happy for someone else for once.

          • http://twitter.com/Paradox_me Paradox me

It isn’t hard to be happy for someone else, but one can be happy for Europe while also staying hopeful for a North American release. It isn’t either or, and doesn’t have to be some sort of retribution simply because we’ve been lucky with localizations in the past.

          • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

You can look at it however you want. I see this as a lesson to all those Americans who got complacent. I’ve learned to just deal with it. So should everyone else.

      • Fonic

Who gloated about it? I certainly never did, and I don’t recall anyone else doing so either.

        • http://whatistheexcel.com/ Excel-2012

I was referring to the tendency of Americans to get Japanese games Europe doesn’t.

    • Aoshi00

lol.. that’s the first thought that occured to me, so that’s how it feels to get shafted time and again.. but now things are starting to turn around for our Euro brethren..

2 weeks early, it’s good news for everyone, but too quick for me… that leaves me no time to finish the game *.*… I doubt I would beat it in a month…

  • Shinji Kazuya

Oh god! AWSOME NEWS! Almost there! :3

    • Guest

       Wut about The Last Story??

      • Shinji Kazuya

Humm apparently The Last Story will come in 2012. Don’t know anything else.

  • SirRichard

GAME UK is the only retailer I’ve noticed with the game at all up for preorder. Doesn’t bother me, they’re alright. Either way, HELL YEAH NINTENDO OF EUROPE! It seems they weren’t content with getting us the game, they have to get it to us quicker!

I think I know why they did it, though; August 19th is a pretty empty day, the emptiest one before the onslaught of third and fourth quarter blockbusters (which starts with Deus Ex 3 on the 26th). Xenoblade Chronicles has a much better chance against Arcana Heart 3 than it does Madden NFL 12 in the wake of Deus Ex.

    • badmoogle

“GAME UK is the only retailer I’ve noticed with the game at all up for preorder. Doesn’t bother me, they’re alright”

Still i find it very strange that it isn’t listed in amazon.uk (which happens to be my favorite retailer.)I have zero experience with GAME and they only have the limited edition which doesn’t interest me since i already have a classic controller…
Damn,i want to pre-order the game for some time now and i can’t!:(

      • http://www.oneltwops.org Santashi

Shopto has the normal version for £30 – http://www.shopto.net/WII/VIDEO%20GAMES/WIIXE01-Xenoblade%20Chronicles.html
I’ve ordered from them a bunch of times and they’re good – always get preorders to you for the day of release if not earlier. I’m sure Amazon will list it at some point though, and there’s still a while to go. :)

    Yesss!!

  • http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=2704923 Buntar0

That’s about 3 weeks before school starts in central Europe. Good move.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

      Aha. That makes sense. :)

  • Lenne

yay now i have something to play before Xillia! <3
    Godbless Nintendo of Europe <3<3<3

  • http://twitter.com/Paradox_me Paradox me

Hey, games releasing earlier than expected. That’s a nice change of pace. :)

  • KyoyaHibari

I wonder how Operation Rainfall will react to this if they do.

  • SetzerGabbiani

I still think NOA might release this.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they use NOE’s pre-order and early sales numbers to decide whether to greenlight it or not.  It also makes sense that NOA would let NOE do most of the localization work since they have to translate it into English, Spanish, and French anyway (sorry German, Italian, Greek, etc. lol).  All NOA has to do at this point is remove the ‘u’ from ‘colour’ and edit other slight spelling differences and we’re ready to go.

    • Avojavo

I hope you’re right. I don’t know what barriers there would be remaining to go from Europe to NA (maybe they’ll have to get new voice actors, I don’t know), but I’m hoping they will be fairly low, and the promised returns fairly high.

But note that the Wii has entered the twilight of its lifetime. NoA may decide that it’s not worth the effort of releasing this game on a console that is slowing down. Why NoE thought it was a groovy idea, I’m hoping will eventually pass over to NoA.

I’m hoping for many things. But realistically I don’t think it’s going to happen.

      • Croix

I for one would be perfectly okay with taking a very British English version of Xenoblade, but I think I’ve said that before. Honestly, though, from what I’ve seen of the game, I don’t actually think it would be too out of place, and after hearing the voices in the previous trailers, I actually liked how it sounded…

    • Guest

Nintendo of America feels you should be satisfied with all the other 1st party games they’ve released so far like MarioZeldaMetroid plus the tons of shovelware you can play; and that you should be buying 3DS games and gearing up for Wii U

    • puchinri

I agree. I don’t think NoA is just going to entirely skip on Xenoblade after they’ve been (subtly?) hinting at a release here for so long. I’ll still be disappointed if we don’t get it, but I think we probably will.

  • PrinceHeir

    Lucky Europeans :P

but yeah i blame NOA for this.

still enjoy the game Europe :P

    • Shinji Kazuya

      Don’t worry. WILL DO! :3

    • Croix

Europe has a history of not getting so lucky with JRPG localizations. While I lament that this seems to have spread to North America, I am glad to see the genre making its presence known in Europe now.

  • Draparde

Wow…a game being pushed forward…dont hear about that too often lol.

    • http://twitter.com/FaithlessMr Bruno Silva

I was gonna say that :P So Nintendo, besides forcing me to get a Wii, you’re forcing me to get a Wii as soon as possible. Not good for my wallet Ninty, not good at all! But it will be so worth it :)

    • Shinji Kazuya

I know right? Nintendo of Europe is really surprising the hell out of me later xD

  • Gelsa

Xenoblade, The Last Story and maybe Pandora’s Tower will be the last time I support Nintendo by giving them my money. I dislike rewarding incompetence. And to anyone wondering what I’m talking about is how Nintendo decided to handle online and backing away from region freedom.

  • http://twitter.com/AaqibRawat Aaqib Rawat

    Damn………

    its coming out early!

    I have no cash !

ok i am going to pre order it and whore my self out to pay for it :P

  • exhume

Those posters are apparently A1 in sized, which is ridiculously massive. Time to not eat for a week so I can afford to preorder this! :D

  • http://www.oneltwops.org Santashi

Definitely getting it, and the early release means that I’ll have more time to play it before going back to uni. :) Now to decide which version, although I really would have no excuse for the limited apart from ‘Oh look! It matches my hair!’. Hmm, then again, that extra kidney is just lying around cluttering my body up…

  • http://twitter.com/Xander_VJ David García Abril

    Hell, yeah!

  • http://twitter.com/AaqibRawat Aaqib Rawat

damn i am embarrassed i thought you got a wii with this ?

    and i can afford this!

its crazy a game coming out early, dragons will be discovered its true i say !
