Silver Bullet, An Unreleased And Unannounced Namco Game, Unearthed

By Spencer . August 10, 2011 . 8:30am

silverbaThe artist that shared the Star Fox Assault artwork last night also revealed an unannounced game from Namco’s pre-merger days. Sometime between 2000 and 2002, Namco was developing Silver Bullet.

Was Silver Bullet… some kind of monster shooting light gun game? Given the timeline it may have been a competitor to Sega’s popular House of the Dead series. It doesn’t look like Silver Bullet got very far in development because all that exists are a few pieces of concept art.

  • Jojo’s Bizzare Vampire Adventures?

That’s what I thought when I saw the artwork! Hirohiko Araki!
Course it doesn’t need “Vampire” in the title lol. I mean the series started off with Dio after all.

  • I’m pretty sure everyone’s going to look at that picture and go, “Jojo!?”

Didn’t they already have Vampire Night as a sort of HOD clone?

And wow, was that Hirohiko Araki doing the art?

  • Videogame history is stunning and shocking, I could have never imagined a Namco without a Bandai.

  • Göran Isacson

… A Jojo’s BIzarre Adventures game in light-gun format, where you hand out ORAORAORAORA punches instead of firing bullets at vampires with Hamon-infused hands…

You know? That could work. Then again I’m only getting a Jojo’s vibe from the color-art, the other sketches don’t seem Araki-like enough.

  • I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that thought of JoJo when I saw this. God, what I would give for a beat’em-up JoJo game. I mean, yeah we got Golden Wind, but that was so many years ago. It could be like Asura’s Wrath or God Hand and it would have all of the series. You could call it JoJo’s Bizarre Chronicles or something.

  • All I did was look at the image and was like “JOLYNE??”…of course not.
Looks like it would’ve been a pretty could game though :(

I think Spencer just wanted to mortify us by thinking another Araki game was in the works, well there’s still hope because Araki only gets younger with each passing year :>

    • You must be joking because I never said anything about Hirohiko Araki or JoJo in the post.

  • KyoyaHibari

That HAS to be Araki or w/e from Jojo & Steel Ball Run

    • True dat. Very Jojo’s-like vibe to the art. Shame it got canned, I love Araki’s works.

  • I’d like to see some stuff from “Frame City Killer”. I cannot believe that Namco had an Unreal 3 powered game ready to go (well…as much as an unreleased game could be) at 360 launch. Same thing with Konami’s Coded Arms 3 for PS3 (also Unreal powered, I believe). How could these developers end up so far behind the curve, technology-wise, throughout the generation when they were so on top of things back then?
