Initial D Arcade 7 AA X Brings Back Fan Favorite Tsuchisaka Race Track

By Spencer . May 7, 2012 . 5:05pm

news2012042603Sega is preparing a new Initial D game for arcades and one of the courses is a throwback to Initial D Arcade Stage Ver. 3. Fans wanted Tsuchisaka so it’s in Initial D Arcade 7 AA X with oil slicks and construction barricades to swerve around.

Initial D Arcade 7 AA X has a new story mode called the Fastest in Kantou Project where you tag in and out with a second player. Battles are 2-on-2 races where both teams show off their driving techniques. Another new feature is the Boost Divide system where you can share your boost with another player. The game is linked up with a nationwide tag system and if you’re in the lead you can transfer your boost gauge to your partner so s/he can catch up. Sega also says there is a new Cross Emblem system and they will add new rules for arcade operators to use.

A location test for Initial D Arcade 7 AA X will be held on May 11 to May 13 in four arcades in Japan: Akihabara Gigo, Sega Akihabara, Club Sega Shinjuku (West Entrance), and Sega World Fuse in Osaka.

Initial D is really fun. Despite not caring for racing games in general, I still have my card from Initial D 4th Stage from an old arcade that had the machine.

Of course, my favorite thing about the game was racing to the music. Go Beat Crazy!

Oh man! I saw Initial D and my heart froze thinking it was coming to a console or handheld! (*≧m≦*)

It’s inevitable, though! I expect to see an Initial D on the Vita at some point, and that would be glorious! I was so happy when it came to the PSP! (❁´◡`❁)*✲゚*

I loved Tsuchisaka in Street Stage, but it’s a shame it wasn’t in Extreme Stage(Stage 4)! Great news to hear it’ll be back! (>y<)

    I absolutely, positively love Initial D! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)

Oh how i wish Sega made another console Initial D..!
Actually i never understood why Sega never really pushed this series to consoles…personally i liked Extreme Stage but they could have put a bit more effort into it.

I hope this game turns out good for them even though i’ll surely never get a chance to play it.

I still want an Initial D Stage 3 rig in my place of residence.

  • LustEnvy

I need to find out where I left off in the anime… soooo long ago…

  • How the hell do you do a tag team in a arcade racing cabinet?

  • The_Real_Oyashiro

I love Initial D but have never played any of the games. The arcades around where I live dried up a long time ago. :(

    • Barrylocke89

Likewise. The only reason I have a place near me that has Pump It Up! is because their arcade is part of one of those “fun centers” that also has bumper cars, minigolf, and redemption prizes. I’m fortunate that despite all of the commotion, the machine is still easy to hear and well maintained. Other locations with PIU or DDR aren’t always so lucky :/

  • protofox

i got to play one of these arcade games back in 2005, loved it so much, these are amazing on arcade.. u could play it on ps3 or psp on those ports..but it just doesnt feel the same..

    • badmoogle

       I’m jealous.:(

  • It’s sad that arcades are pretty much dead in the west. The initial D games are always worth the money, even if you lost against someone superior

  • Too bad it’s not going to be localized. Initial D pretty much ended on Arcade Stage 4 for the West.

  • I hope AVEX would allow some DLC tracks for bgm, since they have the Super Eurobeat CD series.
