Hitman: Sniper Challenge Comes Out On May 15… As A GameStop Pre Order Bonus

By Spencer . May 10, 2012 . 7:20am

3670HM5_Sniperchallenge_ArtCan you believe GameStop is credited for making a console game? The retailer partnered with Square Enix to create Hitman: Sniper Challenge. It’s not exactly a brand new game, but it is a standalone Hitman mission where players compete to be the best sniper.

Armed with a sniper rifle, Agent 47 sits on a balcony waiting for Stallion Armaments CEO Richard Strong Jr. to enter his scope. Your mission is to assassinate Strong and all of his bodyguards. Hitman: Sniper Challenge sounds like a score attack mode since players can find score multipliers and unlock bonus equipment.

An online leaderboard will keep track of the top players and Square Enix will award skilled snipers with monthly prizes. The grand prize for the top sniper of all time is a trip for two to Copenhagen, Denmark to meet developer IO Interactive and get their likeness incorporated into the next Hitman game.

Items earned in Hitman: Sniper Challenge, including the Kazo TRG sniper rifle, can be carried over into Hitman: Absolution.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge will be available as a PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade download on May 15 if you pre-order Hitman: Absolution from GameStop. The PC version will be online on August 1 and accessible through Steam.

In the UK you can get it if you pre-order at Shopto.com don’t know if other shops are doing it but they just emailed me about it.

Looks great but… I’m kinda hesitating with this one. Knowing that Eidos is now a part of Square Enix and both tend to throw out DLC mindlessly just like Capcom … this’ll have to wait.

I love Hitman, always will but the new Assassin Sense confuses me. Given I don’t need to use it but… building in something like this will make a Game of long time planing and researching your opponents much easier … if not completely futile.

And a Sniper Challange …. completely for pre-order? That’s kind of a bummer for really crazy people.

I doubt it’s only for pre-order most of these things appear to download normally after a little while only not for free.

I beg to differ. SE isn’t throwing DLCs mindlessly just like Capcom (who purposely LOCKS IN GAME CONTENTS). You’re probably reffering to FFXIII-2, but you’re forgetting that it was us gamers who complained for the lack of DLCs in XIII…and now that SE delivers you dare to complain?

Besides, releasing a bunch of DLCs every 2-3 weeks for a resonable price (and the correct convert rates) is far from harmful imho (I know, I know the costumes were a bit pricey, I admit that, but the coliseum battles were well worth the money).

Granted I’m no fan of pre-order bonuses, so I’m with you on that matter, I’m really looking forward to playing this game.

Us?  Sorry I didn’t complain about any lack of DLC, I actually liked the lack of DLC.  You don’t know if TwinbladeAlkaid wanted that or not.

When it comes to FFXIII-2 I’d just settle for an ending really.

    Hmm pre-order,no,pre-order,no,pre-order,no………..collapse due to overthinking.

  • Closet_Ninja

This is a pre-order bonus can’t wait to go get it

also i read that the first place of the Online Liner boards gets 2 tickets to Denmark.

Played it last night, preorder bonus started yesterday. It’s stupid fun ala Link’s Crossbow Training and has a bit of replayability. Not only are there guards, but gnomes, rubber duckies and pigeons. More you play, the more you get in Sniper Challenge like better breathing or the ability to hold more rounds.

Enough is enough I say. I’m perfectly fine with a DLC-less Hitman game
