Namco Bandai is bundling Macross: Do You Remember Love with a new Macross video game. You can see a tiny bit of My Boyfriend is a Pilot 2012… in a window on the bottom right hand corner. Here’s a better look at the PS3 bonus game, which was developed by the team that also made Macross: Last Frontier.

The Macross: Do You Remember Love Hybrid Pack comes out in Japan on July 26.

Only in Japan. No thanks to Harmony Gold.

    Will have to import.

    • Tom_Phoenix

It’s not just Harmony Gold’s fault. DYRL and the Macross series in general is one enormous legal clusterf**k and it’s going to take a miracle to ever see it resolved.

      Example of Corporate problem.T_T

How is that company even still around?

You’d think with all that swag, a PS3 game on the main disc, they wouldn’t cheap out on English subtitles.

Though it could be worse: they could put on the HK dub DX

    • Aoshi00

You mean bad sub from bootlegs right?  Most of the the official HK Cantonese anime dubs aired on TV are quite good.

Anyway, pre-ordered the Hybrid Pack.  I just wish they have the Jpn sub for the blu-ray.  The new Kenshin Shin Kyoto-hen OVA blu-ray did not have Jpn sub at all, unlike Tsuioku or Seisou-hen..

It’s nice they find Doi Mika narrating these new commercials.. loved her Hayase Misa & Takani Megumi..

This, Robotics;Notes, & Lollipop Chainsaw Premium Ed. are setting back a lot of dough :(..

      • Godmars

No. Once upon a time there was an “official” attempt to do dub the movie by the guys who dub kung fu movies. I was at a convention when they tried to show it.

I say “tried” because we lasted about forty minutes – a whole forty minutes – before…something happened. Nothing I’ll admit to in court, and the bloody  clothes where burned with the ashes scattered.

Either that or I just blacked out. Rushed outside to vomit.

Not sure which fan dub you’re referring to, but if you’re talking about the Chinese dub for anime in HK, most of them were pretty good (HK does not dub anything in Eng btw). I preferred the TVB voice actors to ATV’s.  But that was many years ago though, dunno about now.  I think I might have watched Do You Remember Love dubbed in Chinese when I was a kid. If you’re talking about bad Eng. dub for Robotech, that’s a diff. story.

No Eng. sub is not that big a deal, most Jpn anime DVD/blu-ray don’t have Eng sub or even Jpn sub, other than Ghibli or few others.  I’m sure most fans had watched Do You Remember Love subbed before one way or another.  Having this blu-ray is more for collection purpose. I just want it to have Jpn subtitles at least if one’s paying that much.

I had a fansub VHS before, but all the tapes were thrown away..

Bandai should sub the movie though; knowing the mess they go through with Harmony Gold in court just to give them that added nudge. The Ultraman movie on Blu Ray was subbed.

          • Aoshi00

Yeah, would be nice if it is subbed, like the Five Star Stories movie or Ghibli ones.  But anime TV series is never subbed, even in Jpn, unlike most US DVD/blu-rays which have standard closed caption for the hearing impaired.  I bought the whole set of Steins;Gate blu-ray, all 9 of them, and they don’t even have Jpn subtitles at all, let alone Eng (they do come w/ a lot of neat bonuses though like soundtrack, drama CD, radio talk, art booklets, etc).  The Saint Seiya movie blu-ray set has no Jpn subtitles either.  The re-release of Kenshin OVAs on blu-ray finally has Jpn sub for the first time (I think Eng sub as well), but the new OVA doesn’t.  It’s not that good anyway, so I’m not wasting money on Part 2.. it comes w/ the storyboard in a separate book..  Hollywood movies on Jpn DVD/blu-rays have both Jpn/Eng sub & dub though.

I agree that some dubs are truly atrocious, though more time here is spent wondering if you’ve heard that voice before.

        • LynxAmali

For a minute there, I thought we were talking about Orguss 02’s dub.

    • Tom_Phoenix

Or worse; they could put on Clash of the Bionoids:

      • Godmars

Knew it was floating out there somewhere – *shivers*

Though pretty sure the guys showing it that first time where calling it Macross…something.

        • Tom_Phoenix

I think you’re referring to Toho’s dub, which was called “Super Spacefortress Macross”:

Clash of the Bionoids is essentially a heavily edited version of the Toho dub.

  • epy

Ah… the original Macross. Those were the days the main character actually chose a girl (looking at you Macross Frontier).

    • LustEnvy

Err, he DEFINITELY chooses a girl in the last movie.

      Oh and… DECULTURE

      • epy

Wait… what? I thought those movies were just retellings of the series so I didn’t care for them. Time to go get them then. Thanks.

        • doubleO7

First movie was a retelling (though it had significant alterations made to the story). But the second movie acts mostly as a sequel.

    • boundries_san

Well Macross Zero MC did choose the girl too lol…….. when they are flying the space.T_T

    • LynxAmali

But Alto did choose a girl!

He chose his only true love!

      THE SKY!!!!

  • boundries_san

  • Ah, 80s style anime love.

  • Carocaro4

Do you believe in life after love?

  • Marco Tinè

I’m so buying it… And Harmony Gold, please, do the world a favour and get out of business as soon an you can.

  • Setsu Oh
