In North America, Sentai Filmworks will be releasing Persona 4: The Animation this year on DVD and Blu-ray. No announcements have been made regarding the licensing of the new movie version.

Yeah sure ill watch the SUB version then ill watch the Dub version.

  • enough is enough.

  • DanteJones

Dunno how they’re going to fit it into a movie. The anime itself wasn’t enough to cover everything. :Ua

    • Persona 4 is such a cash cow.

      • Testsubject909

I’m just waiting for Persona 5 and the next actual SMT game.

      • Dyne

maybe but you need to make money you know?

        • of course, always consider yourself rather than other people.

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

I think they could recap the series in less than 90 minutes, I mean cant fans recap the series in 90 minutes or less?

  • Truner Razer

Actually, the bluray isn’t out yet. And won’t be till what, August? But yeah, good news. More Persona 4 is always fun.

  • Ooh Bee

When is Persona 4 going to get it’s own drink? How about a sport team? Maybe they could make Persona 4 lawnmowers.

    • Testsubject909

Persona 4 collector’s glasses, Persona 4 clothing line, Persona 4 the Restaurant, Persona 4 the social game on Facebook, iMarket and Android, Persona 4 for the Musical, Persona 4 the limited edition scooters and bikes, Persona 4 memorabilia, Persona 4 Day a new yearly festival, Persona 4 the Street, Persona 4 the City, Persona 4 the Space Station, Persona 4 flavored condoms, Persona 4 Kanji Limited Edition folding chair, Persona 4 Limited Edition USA only Naoto colored 9mm Pistol and Teddie themed bullets, Chie the Hurricane, Persona 4 the tribute band, Persona 4 the hot spring, Teddie’s Beary Pun Time the TV show.

      Need I go on?

      • Ooh Bee

         Not enough.

        • Testsubject909

Persona 4 the PS3 remake, Persona 4 the TV sitcom, Persona 3 the Persona 4 edition, Persona 5 the Persona 4 edition, Persona 4 the PS3, Persona 4 the PS4, Persona 4 the flamethrower, Persona 4 the lunchbox, Persona 4 the magic fortune cookie.

        • LynxAmali

           WE MUST HAVE MORE.

          WE MUST HAVE….

      • Herok ♞

I think they already did the musical.

        • Testsubject909

          They did… Let’s retcon that.

Persona 4 the Broadway Musical, Persona 4 the tribute musical to the musical. Persona 4 the Movie about the Musical, Persona 4 the reboot, Persona 4 the reboot Musical, the reboot of the original Persona 4 musical and Persona 4 the musical TV series every thursday night at 9PM/8 Central only on the Midnight Channel.

edit: I think I somehow went Meta here and started milking this joke just as badly as Persona 4 is getting to be milked. They really, really should stop after that. I mean, a fighting game, that’s alright, a portable remake, sure, a TV series and movie, fine. But there’s really nothing more to go to other then really just overdoing it a bit too much now…

Speaking of Musicals based off of animes or games. This was my first:

PS to those who cares, Echizen gets topless in the 2nd part and I never watched any musical past the 2nd or 3rd because, honestly, all the actors stopped looking like they were one of the guys in Prince of Tennis and just looked like generic good looking guys that pandered a bit too much to fangirls.

      • “Persona 4 collector’s glasses, Persona 4 clothing line, Persona 4 the
Restaurant, Persona 4 the social game on iMarket and Android, Persona 4 for the Musical,Persona 4 Day a new yearly festival ”

(psst….all of these things I copied already exist)

      • mirumu

        Hmmm, P4 glasses you say?

The clothing line exists too. Other official merchandise? Persona 4 the jigsaw puzzle. Persona 4 mouse and keyboard. Persona 4 mug, glass and plate. The Persona 4 ruler (the measuring kind). The Persona 4 Hot-water Bag Cover. That’s just from a quick skim of Amiami. Hate to think what else is out there if I started digging.

        • Testsubject909

Persona 4 the cast-off figurine collection. Persona 4 the blow-up sex dolls. Persona 4 the female cast fleshlights. Persona 4 the porno (Credits goes to Victoria for that find:
). Persona 4 the live action movie. Persona 4 flavored water. The fourth Persona 4 brand spamming Persona 4 related comment I’m going to bother doing…

          • mirumu

The funny thing is that none of those are even remotely unlikely. Well maybe it’d be dakimakuras instead of blow-up dolls, but they’re almost the same thing. I remember facepalming after Puella Magi Madoka Magica fleshlights were announced a while back.

          • XiaomuArisu

Facepalm after seeing this Madoka dakimakura

          • mirumu

Ah yes, that one. Not for the feint of heart. Poor Mami. It’s not out of line with some of the official marketing however. Needs more Charlotte.

          • Testsubject909

About the picture linked by XiaomuArisu.

… I like the top rated anonymous comment. It’s funny.

            edit: Morbid, but funny.

    • mirumu

I think they’ll hold back on the lawn mower until they release Persona 4: The Golden FES on PS3 and can do a marketing tie in with the new female protagonist using a lawnmower as her weapon.

It is with great guilt too that I admit I would buy that lawn mower.

  • SirRichard

They’re seriously milking Persona 4 into the dirt, aren’t they?

    • i wish they did it with p3

      • WilliamJasper

I think they already did. I wish they did it for P1 and 2. Those really need some spotlight. They had very good plots.

        • Testsubject909

I wish they’d do it with P5 and P6… Oh wait, it’s not out yet.

Come on Atlus! You can do it!

        • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Let’s not talk about P1, shall we?

          • RablaAndrews

Screw you, P1 is cool. Let’s DO talk about P1.

          • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Yeah, you tell me that after you’re done with the Snow Queen Quest.

          • cj_iwakura

I finished the Snow Queen Quest. It’s doable. But painful.

          • Roberto Armando Iraheta

I beat it myself. It’s a real trudge, only to fight a final boss that can cheaped out with ease…

    • Luna Kazemaru

Yep isn’t that how you kill a fanbase….

      • Testsubject909

        I don’t know… Look at FF7.

        • Luna Kazemaru

Lets not even open that can  there ok…Please no.

          • Testsubject909

I’m just saying, look at what the movie Advent Chil-*punched in the face*

          • Luna Kazemaru

        • mirumu

FF7 was exactly what I thought of too. I’d kind of like a FF VII HD remake (in due time after V and VI get their turn of course), but the series has been so overdone. Persona 4 seems to have reached that point so much faster though.

  • Guest

90 minutes? I think they should make the film a bit longer than that.

  • klkAlexar

Whatever makes them enough money to make an awesome P5 and finish it in a timely manner.

  •  milking persona 4 and the smt brand for all its worth

    • Testsubject909

Kinda wish Tecmo would do it with the Deception/Kagero/Trapt series.

We need more action puzzle trap games out there with a highly morbid setting… Seriously, we do, no jokes, all serious, I really want more of those games.

      • Victoria [Rokuso3]

        I agree!! I want more Kagero T__T

        • Testsubject909

It’s just fun bouncing some poor innocent victim that really has no reason to be where you are and causing them to perish in horrible inhumane ways before finishing it off by having a guillotine sickle toss their body unto a dark deadly trap, specifically the dark illusions in Trapt…

Man… And what I’d give if they’d take back the features from the first Deception game, where you could hack away the bodies of the intruders and sew them up into undead creatures to be summoned to kill off invaders…

      • mirumu

Yes, I could not agree more my Deception/Kagero/Trapt-liking brother. Those games were the best and if they do not make more this world is totally unfair.

      • cj_iwakura

As a huge Deception fan, I understand the Orcs Must Die! Steam game is kind of similar. I believe the creators were Deception fans.

        • Testsubject909

I’ll have to look it up.

  • milking persona 4 and SMT for all its worth right atlus? =/

  • Roberto Armando Iraheta

I’m not sure how that’ll exactly translate well to a film. You gotta trim a lot of plot and probably lose a lot of the emotional content and pacing that’s inherent in the story.

    • Testsubject909

I think it’d work better as a spin-off film or a film focused primarily on the last moments or on a side event or an entirely new dilemma. If it’s meant to pair up with the anime show for example, it certainly wouldn’t be retreading all that the show went through, and if it did, would probably only devote maybe 20 minutes to it.

      • Roberto Armando Iraheta

That’s what I thought they were doing at first. I thought they were doing it to complement the show. I mean, if it sells I guess it’s okay, whatever works for them.

  • 90 minute movie condensing the 26 episode anime I watched not too long ago? Um..Ok I guess? I don’t know how many more times I need to reach out for the truth.

  • JazzWithAttitude

What about Persona 4a No one is alone?
Will be 25 minutes lenght or will be a film?

  • Steven Boivin

Are you sure that it’s not the actual True Ending OVA that they announced for the DVD? They did mentionned that it would contain episode 25 Director’s cut and the True Ending sequence. Based on the title of the movie, I would be inclined to believe that the movie is the OVA and not all 26 episodes crammed in 2 hours.

    • Niermyico

An OVA is understandable. I’m also waiting for that DVD release for the True Ending. So I’m hoping they’re talking about that. Cramming 26 episode in 2 hours does not make sense.

  • MCoelho

How about giving some animated love for P3? And no. Trinity Soul isn’t P3.

About the news, i’m pretty sure this movie starts in Magatsu Inaba till the True End.

    • Steven Boivin

Persona 3 The Animation would be nice. THough, I guess they have to conclude Persona 4 first.

      • JMaster3000

i dont think that they could make a P3A because P3 is just climbing the tartarus

        • MCoelho

Did you play the same game i did?

          • JMaster3000

            Yeah… yeah i did.

          • MCoelho

Saying P3 is just climbing the Tartarus, P4 is just rescuing people. If i say like this, the story sounds inexistent and idiot. But it isn’t.

      • After the debacle that was Trinity Soul a proper Persona 3 anime would be nice yeah.

    • We don’t need anymore Persona milking. Seriously.

  • Victoria [Rokuso3]

No more P4. Really. Please, ATLUS.

  • Nicolas Vasquez

i dont know whats the point, the anime was average at best, people that got introduced to p4 for the anime, are gonna find weird the characters do actually figth, specially  in P4U, and like many had said if things didnt fit correctly in 26 eps, i dont see it happening in 90 mins.

  • Niermyico

How many cows now have they milked? Come on, Atlus.

  • RPG and Fighting Game
    Live Action

How about VN??Or Racing game??Or Rhythm games??
Well the Rhythm games is not bad for me…
If you include all music from SMT, Atlus…

    • Victoria [Rokuso3]

      There’s an unnoficial Porn movie

But with time, we’ll also see Visual Novels with infinite loops. Even better: Eroge visual novels with infinity loops.

      • JMaster3000

        Ur sick xD

      • Testsubject909

I’d imagine that there’s already a few Persona 4 fan made eroges out there.

edit: PS. I think this comes to no surprise to anyone.

        … I’d watch it.

    • Testsubject909

      Little Big Persona 4
      God of Persona 4
      Gran Persona 4
      Grand Theft Persona 4
Feel free to try your own.

      •  Grand Theft Persona 4, you know the things you could do there D:

      • mirumu

Touhou 14: The Embodiment of Persona 4

        • Barrylocke89

          Naoto Shirogane was HER?!

      • Tales of Personia F(our)
        Resident Persona 4
        Persona 4 Dead
        Persona 4 Dead 2
        Elder Persona IV
Resonance of Persona 4 (Persona 4 of Eternity in JPN)
And finally, Star Persona 4: The Last Hope

    • RablaAndrews

I would buy the hell out of a Persona Rhythm game.

  • Zonic505

Come on, Atlus. I totally understand P4 is cool & all, but after the stage play, enhanced port, fighting game, novel, & anime series, all within about a year or so, I think it’s time to move on from P4 once the two games are out. Too much of a good thing, ya know? Not saying I didn’t like the anime or that I’m not looking forward to P4 Arena & Golden. Totally gonna get those. Just remember that you have other games, let alone Persona games.

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Makes sense to do it, the anime is selling tons in JPN, look at the high sales of each disc set there.

    • doubleO7

I don’t think ATLUS really has much, if anything, to do with the TV series (or any of these other things for that matter, except the games) aside from licensing it out in the first place. It was likely just Aniplex’s decision to milk the anime further with this compilation movie.

      • Mr_SP

No, it’s certainly also ATLUS’s decision. Aniplex may have come to them to propose it, or the other way around. But ATLUS, Aniplex, and all the merchandisers have gotten together to make this series. They’ve all financed the project together, and they all get a say. That’s how Japan does all of it’s anime.

    • cj_iwakura

Honestly think they’re doing this because they need to. P5 is their first next-gen RPG(scary, isn’t it?), and it’s using a brand new proprietary engine. It can’t  be cheap.

      • Martin Ezekiel Bran Jr.

well they did test out the next gen console with the release of Catherine. And the game did pretty good. im sure the next persona game will do just fine.

  • Göran Isacson

The only thing I can think of when I see that tagline is to start singing:
“Your eyes are open… wear no disguiiiiise, for me, come into the opeenn…”

  • Cjs0511

And of course…people do nothing but cry cry cry….

  • I don’t agree with milking a series dry, but think of it this way, the more money they make from small things like this, the more they can provide for us (for example Persona 5) or no?

That’s just how I see it because really, we should be thankful that P4G and P4Arena are coming out so closely to the JP release. That takes a lot of work.

    • Ooh Bee

That would be great but the truth is that no one knows anything about P5. All we know is that they may or may not be working on it. For all we know, Atlus could use all this money just to fund something completely different like Catherine. Lord knows when they’re going to release another SMT game.

      • RablaAndrews

We know they ARE working on it, actually. It was in the last news thing they did, when P4 Arena and P2EPP and that got announced.

  • Is this more or less similar to the Gurann Lagann Hen movie?

  • thundergodCN

first 80 minutes grinding levels in the dungeons, last 10 minutes beating the boss

  • RmanX1000

Well…. This is… kind of getting out of hand. But at the same time idc because im a huge Persona fanboy, with P4 being the first Persona i played XDDD

  • Oh look a p4 movie, not surprise there. I knew it it will come sooner or later.

  • takopako

  • I think its interesting taking this kind of approach, there might be something else going on below the surface for this to be happening or like some people say they are making the most they can out of the series. On a side note……if the movie is going to include the true ending footage….you already know people will go see it cause that is basically what everyone is waiting for now especially after that sneak peek footage of it was released publicly…even I can’t wait to see that.

  • I wish Persona3 got this kind of attention :(

    • Me too. Persona 3 is an incredible emotional ride.

    • RablaAndrews

It does, but with remakes instead of adaptions.

    • If they can get past the censors 4 some “issues”, then we will hv a P3A…..

    • Bunzi

… or the greater Shin Megami Tensei series that spawned this one, even.
MegaTen, you ask? What’s that? Good question.

  • I was wondering where the “true ending” was when i finished watching the anime.

Waited to the end… the trailer appeared. Hope restored.
Now… this is going to be the most awesome thing going to happen to Persona 4 Fans all over the world. 90 minute length movie of the True Ending + Extra?. @[email protected]

Although i have to admit. They really are milking the series dry.

    • Mr_SP

No, the True End for the series is on the last Blu-Ray disc of the series. This is seemingly condensing the entire series as well as the True End.

  • Nitraion

    actually i want Persona’s Tarot card…

  • canarinta

You guys ready for “Banchou-Style Pork Rinds”?

  • Hinataharem

Oh look, the Persona fanbase QQ’s again over a condensed version of the anime.

  • Mr_SP

How do you condense 27 episodes into 90 minutes? Is it skipping everything up until the climax?

    • Maybe it’s just going to show just the “Izanami” fight on the “True End” only.

    • LynxAmali

We don’t know yet. For all we know, this could be an original movie.

  • RablaAndrews

True End plus new content huh. Nice, looking forward to it.

…Wait, June? Isn’t that BEFORE the actual True End release…?

    • Dem Japanese getting a sneak preview of True End….. I WANNA TO HV SNEAK PREVIEW AND EXTRA TOO.

  • Ninten

Considering the fact that I pretty much disliked the anime, then maybe a 90 minute long movie wouldn’t be THAT bad.

But gee, people seem so excited about the True Ending like they have never actually seen it in the game.

    • Arizato

How can you NOT be excited?! The true ending is so goddamn epic, I have high expectations how the handle that in the anime!

  • Noe I am curious wht is there to add…. and wht they r cutting…. BUT MOST IMPORTANT: SNEAK PREVIEW!!! NOOOOO!

  • I loved the anime, so I’m looking forward to this, for sure :)

  • *Sigh* If only they would give even half as much love to the other games in the SMT franchise. I’d definitely be behind an animated version of SMT: Nocturne or Devil Summoner.

  • Ugh… it’s getting hard to ignore this show without having played the game first.

Curse you younger me! For not knowing such a game existed!!!

  • ZBaksh386

I think its works better as an anime than a movie

  • They had a hard time trying to condense it into an anime series and now they are trying to do it in a movie? Odd. I hope the animation is improved.

  • ……Game, anime, manga, audio drama, movie, ZOGGIN’ MUSICAL!

    wotz next? Children’s Card Game?

    better have Motorcyclez.

    • Nicholas Tsukuyarou

      • MisterFoxInc

         OH COME ON.
I love Persona 4 as much as the next guy, but CUT IT OUT. Hasn’t that cow been milked enough already?
