Something tells me next week will be really predictable sales wise and I am impress DD did so well.

    • Anime10121

Although I’m not a fan of Capcoms recent practices, I’m glad to see a new game from them do well (even if it’s not my type of game i.e. I dont like Monster Hunter either but understand why its fun to others).  I was hoping considering it was the Devil May Cry teams baby that it would give us the awesome gameplay of Devil May Cry in a RPG, however the demo has lead me to believe otherwise and it’s combat feels like many other western RPGs to me.

      • badmoogle

I think the combat is pretty good.Perhaps if they had included a lock-on button it would have made the combat more enjoyable for many people but personally i like it as it is.I think it’s more realistic this way.

        • Roubjon

There is a ton of auto-lock on in the game already though.  Unless you are talking about using bows, but then that would make shooting arrows mind numbingly boring.

          • badmoogle

I don’t think there’s a “ton” of auto lock-on in the game (except for the mage class) at least not in the traditional meaningof the term.Strider doesn’t have lock-on and fighter doesn’t have either (well one of his defensive shield moves kinda locks but it’s not real lock-on.)
Also isn’t there a lock-on for magic archer?I think this makes the game quite easy…personally i’m using a fighter.

          • VietKnight

Well even though Magic Archer has lock-on, it is not perfect especially going against certain foes like Golem where you need to hit certain spots to do damage where it only hits them close but not at it making it useless.

        • Anime10121

Lock-on doesnt really matter to me though as I LOVED Neir’s combat without lock-on (Lock-on actually makes games far too easy IMO), what really throws it off for me is the combat is too slow, realistic yes, but if I wanted realistic, I’d buy a sword and swing it around outside myself.  I understand why people like “realistic” (not saying griffins and dragons are realistic) games but games are not and will never be realistic so I dont understand why many try to be.

  • Wonder why the PS3 version of Dragon’s Dogma sold much much more than the XBOX version.

    • Asura

You’re new to Japan’s video game buying tendencies, huh?

    • Anime10121

PS3 versions of EVERYTHING sell better in Japan, if its multiplat, its usually 99% guarantee that itll sell much more on Playstation (although I cant too much blame them as PS3 has all multiplats, even some Wii ones like RE Chronicles coming out, and IMO far better exclusives).

And plus it also helps that PS3 has sold almost 3 or 4 times as many consoles as 360 in Japan.

      • XYZ_JolteonZ980

I think its definitely the hardware sales. Confused why Microsoft dropped the ball on promotions there these last few years, after Star Ocean and I guess Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, and Tales of Vesperia…its been a pretty niche orientated system.

        • Anime10121

I think it has more to do with Nickle and diming you for its important online features, I mean from what I hear Japan isn’t all that big on online play/content anyway and having to pay a yearly fee to play online when all competitors offer similar services for free (Wii/3DS/DS, PS3/PSP/PSV, PC) is probably a big turnoff.

    • Japan no likey 360

  • So Capcom gets another success despite its deuchebaggery

    • neo_firenze

Dragon’s Dogma also happens to be one of the best games I’ve played in 2012, well worth its cost.  The game deserves its success.

    • puchinri

      Even though Capcom kind of annoys me lately (well, way more than kind of), I appreciate when they do develop and/or publish a great title, and between this and ExTroopers, I am quite a bit happier with them. But I mean, who knows where all this will continue to go. ^u^;

    • Croix

Now let’s take just a moment here to put this into perspective.

Bullying in any environment is never acceptable. I want to make it clear that I’m not going to defend anyone who was involved in the bullying of this employee.

However, Dragon’s Dogma is more than just a game made ‘by Capcom’. The victimized person in this article isn’t the only person who worked on this game, and the many, many other people who were fortunate enough to not fall victim to the same thing (and who weren’t involved in it) don’t deserve to have their success taken away from them. I hope the lawsuit serves to open the eyes of higher-ups at Capcom so they will watch such activities in the workplace with a bit more scrutiny toward the right people, but it would be a tragedy if they took it out on the the many people who put a great deal of honest work into this game. What we have is two different (but related) situations. The victimized employee should be able to find her recompense through the legal system, hopefully aimed at all the right people. It should not be something that occurs as a blow to everyone else in the workplace.

    • boundries_san

Ummm that bullying thing happen in almost all work industry u know?

As long as Capcom provide quality title, i am going to keep supporting them lol.

    • Domii

What you have to understand is that the ones who moan and whine are just a vocal minority, that’s all.

  • SetzerGabbiani

Fire Emblem still selling well.  The announcement for NA will probably come at E3.  It can’t continue to stay on the charts like this without NOA noticing.

    • cj_iwakura

      You’d be surprised…

  • Dyne

wow, the “My Little Sister” was right at the top and now it 15 with only 60k sold

too bad Persona 2 is not doing well…

    •  I think that’s a sign that Atlus may need to bring more new titles in, especially from the SMT line

    • Oreimo is a title based on a light novel that was adapted into an anime that sold well (for anime) but was decidedly not mainstream.

Did you seriously expect stable sales from a game adaptation? And the second one, at that?

    • Barrylocke89

That’s apparently how a lot of titles go in Japan (and I’m sure in America as well). The first week is so important because that’s when it’s on people’s radar as a new release. Because next week, there’s another new release, and then another, and then by the time people check out those releases they missed, they’re only found in the bargin bin and in second-hand shops.

  • Godmars

Capcom needs to look at Dogma and Monster Hunter. Make a hybrid that lets you capture and train some lesser monsters to get around on.

  • badmoogle

Hopefully DD will continue to sell a lot.I’m currently playing it and i have to say the game is pretty incredible.Probably GOTY for me.

  • the vita is flopping in japan.this thing needs a price drop asap or its going to be “dreamcasted” if the super low sales continues

    • badmoogle

I think it needs good games more than it needs a price cut.

  • XYZ_JolteonZ980

Uta no Prince Sama Debut doing like its other ones. Hopefully this justifies further seasons of the epic anime.

    • Edit: Er, whoops. Never mind. Sorry.

  • amagidyne

Dragon’s Dogma is brilliant and has earned that place. I’m at 30 hours now and I’m still enjoying it immensely. I’m hoping they’ll add some sort of vehicle (horses, donkeys, griffins, whatever) to the game at some point, although knowing Capcom it’ll be DLC.

Such a shame about Eternal Punishment. Hope it’s not an ill omen for Soul Hackers (or the localizations of those two).

    • I expect Soul Hackers will do a little better than Persona 2: EP, but I think this is a pretty sure sign that dungeon crawlers aren’t what Persona fans are looking for.

  • boundries_san

DD.^^ All my love for u!!!

  • Dragon’s Dogma is amazing. It’s basically a blend of Dragon Age and Fable for anyone who hasn’t played it, and I haven’t enjoyed a new game this much since last year’s Trails. I’m glad it’s selling well. I gots to have a sequel.

  • Domii

Really happy Dragons Dogma is selling well. Im currently planning on getting it when the price drops a lil.

  • MrRobbyM

I am pleased to hear the news. It’s a little rough around the edges, but it’s a great game. I hope Capcom continues the series that fixes the firsts problems.

    • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Honestly, for a first try, it’s VERY good. Most games wish they could be this good on their first try and easily shames other WRPGs in the market. I can only hope there’s a sequel.

      • MrRobbyM

Agreed, agreed aaaaaaand agreed. Skyrim who?

The pawn system is my favorite feature in the game so far. I always look forward to resting at inns to see who used me pawn and gave me a gift. It’s really addicting. Looking for new pawns every few level ups is fun too. It’s almost the same feeling as finding a new town with an equipment shop and buying new, cool and more powerful equipment. Except it’s free! Well, within a limit.

        • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Yeah, I’ve been borrowing pawns from my brother and friends list. It’s nice to give random gifts like handing my friends manly mage back to him in drag. XD.

          • VietKnight

Lol well for me I just usually give potions/quest items or if I like your pawn the most a ferrystone

  • Barrylocke89

See, now I kinda wish Dragon’s Dogma was available on PC.

  • takopako

i am curious to know how it sold in america. XD

  • Roberto Armando Iraheta

Glad to see it’s doing well. It’s such a great game and is easily the best RPG this year. Never had so much fun exploring such hostile environments.

  • superdry

Haha.  I was having a discussion with a friend about first-week Muishihimesama HD sales.  I told him either CAVE underprinted or it sold pretty well since Amazon JP is sold out of the first edition with the DLC card.  So, I thought it would probably do 5K sales and rank on this week’s media-create charts.

I didn’t realize how close I was with my prediction.

  • Nitraion

The comparsion of DD 360 and ps3 version is like heaven and earth lol XD

  • I’m curious on how the sales of NA and EU turn out… With the mixed reviews from critics, it will be interesting…

  • boundries_san

Awww.. KI:U dissappear from the chart.T_T Seeing that a lot of game coming out this week, i can see that it is going to have a big problem trying to maintain its position.

Hope that next week, more people will buy back KI:U.^^

I am also quite sad that Mushihimesama only sell around 5k.T_T Even though Cave game is a very good game.^^

  • SupaPhly

nice to see dragons dogma doing well

by the way, is mushihimesama hd region free?

  • Crimson_Cloud

    ”The wind is pushing mee…”!

I loved the ”B’z Into free Dangan” menu theme. I really hope you sniffle out the sales of Dragon’s Dogma in EU and NA. One of the best games this year if you ask me. I saw a lot of people on forums being really satisfied with the game too. Which I can’t say the same for some of the reviews from well-known gaming sites. They were really biased and closed-minded with it.
