By Ishaan . June 1, 2012 . 8:30am

It wouldn’t be Kingdom Hearts without a whole bunch of confusing scenes that make you go “Huh?” and scratch your head. Don’t worry, Square have that covered with their English E3 trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. Take a look at the video below:

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be released in North America and Europe this July.

  • Is it August yet? Please tell me is August. Lie to me if you must.

    • Anime10121

      Its August;)

  • Paradox me

Alright, enough teasing. Gimme the game, Square.

    • boundries_san

August bro.T_T Still a long long time needed to wait.T_T

  • Anime10121

Nice trailer, but what was the point?  All they did was rerelease the special trailer they already did in English cut 6 minutes from that trailer add in 5 seconds of new dialogue and show English gameplay that really only amounts to ability names being seen.

I mean go hype and all that, but Square I expected more (no wait, no I didnt, this is the company that is only showing Western based console games and out of the almost 20 or so games they are showing only 3 or 4 were actually developed by Square Japan 2 3DS games and 2 iPhone games). Oh and let me add that Square Japan has only released 2 console games this entire generation, dont get me wrong while 95% of their handheld titles have been great, their home console output has been nothing short of pathetic (I liked XIII and LOVED XIII-2 but is that all ya got Square).

Square, my respect for you, it is falling.  Ima need for you to announce at least ONE major new title at E3 that’s a surprise no one new about (or at least SOMETHING vs. XIII), please?

  • Nitraion

If only i can play as aqua again…..

  • “Follow the hearts, and you’ll find the light”. That’s something Master Aqua once told me.

Gawd, is it time for a new KH game already? I missed this feeling :) Bring it on!

  • Nyandroid

    Oh! Its looking so good!
I can NOT wait to devote all of my time to this game!

  • Last KH before KH3… It has been a long time coming but it is finally nearing the end.

    • DemonicX

Yep, but now we have to wait for Versus XIII to be finished.

      • Yah. Which I like that game too so no worries for me.

  • Xapth

It’s probably the end of the trailer that does it for me.

The quick “flashes” of Namine, Xion, Terra, Aqua, and then Sora sitting in one of the Organization XIII meeting thrones… I can’t wait to play this!

I just hope that Nomura moves onto the next KH game after this, rather than creating a Final Mix as he tends to do.

  • Altoire

So anybody knows the title of the music played in the trailer?

    • Niermyico

the track is called “Majestic Wings”

  • Anesia Hunter

I am so happy I pre-ordered this right now. now to just wait until the end of july. D: It feels… so far away. *cries quietly in the corner*

  • i got a ps2 for kingdom hearts 1 and 2 then i got psp for bbs and now i have to get a 3ds for the next installment?MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!

  • Red9ro

Ok everybody says KH is confusing. But is the story actually good and worthwhile?

    • Herok ♞

yes and it isn’t confusing if you play all the games

      • Enigma_XIV

You dont have to play all of them but the story does require some thought

      • Anesia Hunter

you don’t have to play all of the games to catch. i’ve only played one out the entire series (358/2 Days) and yet i’m pretty caught up. (gotta love gameplay videos on youtube and wikis)

        • omg you only played 358/2 Days!? Not that it wasn’t a good game but you need to play and experience the ones on ps2 instead of watching and reading.

          • Anesia Hunter

a lot of things happened where i was never able to complete even 1/5th of my ps2 wish list. /_ so it couldn’t be helped.

          • Well, I’ve played Days and I should say it was good. The sense of hanging that I’ve felt in the ending is one reason why I wanted to play all the KH games that will come.

It’s really subjective. I can say this game is good and that game is bad, but then another person will say it’s the other way around. ^^

      • I agree. The story isn’t confusing at all if you have been following and playing all the games. It’s not rocket science.

    • Philip Irwin

It’s not even remotely confusing.  Playing the main games (And Birth By Sleep through till its secret endings) and reading some game story summaries yields an otherwise long and interweaving but simple storyline.

Essentially, something bad happened prior to Kingdom Hearts I and essentially Sora and Riku are probably the only people who can fix it.  Obviously it’s more than just that, but it’s not as tough to understand as a lot of people claim it is.

But again, a lot of us have been in it for the long haul.  Play at least the PS2 and PSP games.

    • Nitraion

It’s not confusing is just… who the heck is sora? he just a kid what’s the big deal? and if he is a big deal why his parent never show up? I say that after play BBS lol and in term of MC seat i say Aqua>Riku>Terra>mickey>sora/ventus

    • It’s one of those love it or hate it games. Seems that it was one of the franchises wherein there is a vocal community who loves it on one side, and another vocal community that doesn’t like it.

Me? I love it, It’s story is good and worthwhile. :)

  • Brandon001

wouldve been so much better on the Vita imo, woulda been a system seller right there.

anyway, looks great, love how its tying into BBS

PS: Yoko Shimomura always comin through on the score

    • Tan Wei Lun

well the game’s level designs WERE designed with 3d in mind. and well, vita doesnt have any :P i would love a kh on the vita, just not kh3d. :D

besides, nomura said very clearly in an interview he CURRENTLY has no interest in making a game for a vita, at least not exclusively for it. if he did, it might be corss-platform with the ps3, like the mgs remakes.

“GameInformer: You released Birth by Sleep on PSP. What are your thoughts on the Playstation Vita?
Nomura: We have been invited to make games on different new platforms, and every time we have created titles making sure that they are highly compatible with the platform. The PS Vita is definitely a powerful device that is very interesting, but because of it’s high power, there isn’t much of a difference with a console. So even if we were to make a game, we would have to be very careful about how to create it for that device. I also feel that it’s about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console.”

    • Please don’t complain about what consoles games are on. You appear to be new here, so I’d like to point out that we have a steadfast rule against that.

But more to the point of your comment–I think we’ve safely established that Kingdom Hearts has ceased to be a system-seller, at least in the case of non-numbered titles. This game did absolutely nothing for 3DS sales beyond its launch week.

  • I’m getting a 3DS this weekend just for Kingdom Hearts. I will follow you where ever you go!

  • Niermyico

Although, that Legend of Zelda 3DS bundle was the reason I got my 3DS ahead of schedule, this game is one of the reason I wanted a 3DS.

Now… I want my Phoenix Wright Vs. Prof. Layton! (I know, different company xD)

    • s07195

That reminds me… there hasn’t been any news on that game for some time…

      • Niermyico

I know. Things are rather shaky on that game. :/

  • Ben Diskin = Very good Billy Zane’s Ansem SoD channeling. :)

  • Binku Muja

Can’t help but wonder why they haven’t picked up KH for the main consoles. And before someone tries to say I’m whining about main console being better-I’m not. I’m just pointing out that they haven’t picked up from where they left off on the main consoles and have focused solely on hand held consoles for a long time now.

Then again I suppose it’d be easier to pony them out in a short amount of time? I wonder how much production time is needed between handheld and main console’s. Does anyone know?

    • Göran Isacson

One possible answer is that after Kingdom Hearts 2, they started working on bigger titles (the whole Nova Crystalis debacle) and while they were doing that, Nomura decided that Kingdom Hearts should remain in the spotlight, preferably by having a game come about about once every one and a half year or so. In order to do both that AND push himself to experiment with a lot of different formats the series got spread out as it has today, but since development with Versus 13 kept getting pushed back and back, he didn’t really have any time to start work on KH3 which he has numerous times stated will only be worked on once he’s done with Versus 13.

So in short: he wanted to make sure Kingdom Hearts stayed in the spotlight, but was probably not prepared for just how many resources the FF13 series would consume and here we are.

  • Göran Isacson

A bit miffed that they didn’t even release something new for this trailer. Oh well- at least it still sounds hella pretty, really digging the theme of this trailer. It’s new for this game, isn’t it?

  • EvidenceLawl

Is it just me, or does Jesse sound more… gruff when delivering Roxas’s lines in that scene? xD
