Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge On Wii U Brings Back Dismemberment

By Ishaan . June 5, 2012 . 11:53am

Going through Tecmo Koei’s press release for Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge on Wii U revealed some interesting details about the game. For starters, you can use the Wii U GamePad to select weapons, perform Ninpo, view additional game information and more.

More interestingly, Razor’s Edge will have Wii U-exclusive weapons. Tecmo say there are six weapon types and three Ninpo types in the game. Finally, they also mention that Razor’s Edge will have improved AI and the return of dismemberment, which was missing from existing versions of the game, as well as new enemies types.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for Wii U will be released sometime this holiday.

I hope new A.I. means not as grab spamming as the PS3 or 360 versions… All I want are more responsive controls, less glitches and please… fix Marbus…
I’m aiming for the Platinum atm, this game would be more fun without the glitches… I expected this version to be different
EDIT: Is that the Dragon’s Claw and Tiger’s Fang I see in the last picture?

  • DongT

kinda makes you wonder why they took out dismemberment in the first place :P

  • SirRichard

“Improved AI” isn’t really “increased difficulty”, which is the sticking point with me for this game. It’s not Ninja Gaiden if I don’t hurt myself/others because of that one git with the exploding shurikens hiding in the camera’s blindspot.

  • Anime10121

Dismembering will NOT make this game any better, sadly even better A.I. will not make this game better the gameplay in 3 is pure crap, 2 was great, 1 decent but this game can not be made better.

  • Why not just go ahead and make it a completely different game? I’m sure it’ll be for the better.

  • Speedo Redempteur

this won’t matter if dismenberment is not part of the gameplay

  • Mago Iichi

Meh, it’s still the same game as NG3 which was terrible.I don’t want that.

  • jakxzero

    F*ck you Tecmo

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

Nice, insult them, that always works >_>

      • jakxzero

I know insulting doesnt work but that how i feel because they add more content and the dismembering to the shitty WiiU and why they couldnt add the same stuffs for the PS3/X360 version this could make the NG3 less crappy

        • Tan Wei Lun

          shitty? yeesh.

        • ForteWily

           Two words: They rushed.
I am not sure that you noticed but the one thing that seems to kill gamers interest in a game is a back up to polish and test more. The more that I look at this generation’s expectation to have a game quickly the more that I realize that we get a poorer product as a result.

  • MrKappa

So despite NG3 still being a piece of crap the WiiU gets the slightly better version eh?
Hey look at that! I still don’t care!

  • thaKingRocka

I might give this a go with the new Nintendo 360 controller. I certainly don’t want to play it with a tablet. NG3 was a much better game than anyone would have us believe. It was definitely the weakest NG game, but even the weakest NG is better than most action games.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

Agreed, though the glitches are a pain in the ass. Do you still play it? I have it on PS3 and I’ve been attempting UN Trials 1 and 2 for like forever…

      • thaKingRocka

No, I am working through so many games right now. Sometimes, I am tempted to go back to NG1, but I am always getting something new.

    • Agreed…

  • eilegz

well wait for a year and get the sigma 3 version with everything fixed and all dlc weapon there….

  • Solomon_Kano

I was holding out for this version of the game, but the demo already put me off from it at all. Since I can’t imagine this will be fundamentally different just by bringing back dismemberment, I guess I’ll have to pass.

    • You seem not to have read the article properly, the bit just before dismemberment is mentioned: “new improved AI”.

Good AI is the core of any such game like this, the core was excellent in Black, which is why the combat proved so popular among players.

      • Solomon_Kano

Naming one particular feature out of list =/= not reading article. I named dismemberment, doesn’t mean that’s the only thing I saw changed. Did it occur to you that perhaps, just maybe, I didn’t count that as a significant enough change to get me interested in this?

And since you mention Black, I dunno if you noticed, but NG3 doesn’t play like Black. And that’s not even in reference to the AI. My problem with NG3 is with the gameplay not the AI, hence why that wasn’t counted as something “fundamentally different” by me. If my problem was the AI, I can’t imagine the demo would’ve told me much about it anyway.

It`s kinda disgusting this is releasing less than a year after the initial Ninja Gaiden 3; but as a hapless dimwit I will buy it again.
