ZombiU, Ubisoft’s Wii U Survival Game, Takes A Cue From Metroid Prime

By Ishaan . June 5, 2012 . 12:13pm

This morning, Ubisoft showed playable footage of ZombiU, their upcoming survival horror game for the Wii U, which puts you in the boots of a different survivor each time your current character dies. Something that caught our eye about the gameplay trailer was that ZombiU has a Metroid Prime-like scanning feature:

The scanning feature can be used to check boxes and so on. ZombiU is Wii U launch window title.

Finally a Zombie game that’s actually a zombie game and survival horror.

The game, so far, looks reasonably good. Nonetheless, I still prefer standard controls over motion-controls.

Now it looks interesting. and Here I was expecting a disappointment after yesterdays cinimatic trailer.

Even though this looks like a Bullshot (in video form), If they can deliver on the gamplay they demonstrated this could be great.

i got a question, is an on-rails shooter??

    • clavat25

No, gametrailers demoed the game a bit after the conference. A video is on their site.

Ah! You know this is honestly how I pictured that the Pad would be utilized, but I pictured much more of occasional use, so it’s interesting to see that Ubisoft is making it the centerpiece of it all.

It definitely looks great, and I like the motion controls, it’s a nice mix with the analog and face buttons. I hope gaemplay, the concept, at least, is actually like this because it looks awesome! (◕‿◕✿)

    My gimmick sense is tingling

    Looks fun!
But i think I’d panic when I’d be forced to look
away from the screen at the pad. :-/

Which is also why I think this application is brilliant. xD Panic attacks ahoy.

Not so sure about the finishing moves, but using the pad to zoom in sniper mode and push buttons sounds… oddly appealing, for some reason. It just feels like it’s a good use for the second screen, you know?

I hope this game is like what they mention where zombies can kill us in one hit to make game really challanging.^^

I was wondering how the game itself would play after the interesting reveal trailer, and it’s certainly not letting me down.

This is the kinda stuff I was hoping to see devs do with the GamePad. All the same, I dunno that horror was the best fit for some of this stuff. The scanner bit? While that could lead to some scares, I wouldn’t want to keep doing that knowing a zombie could pop up at any moment. Still, this does look good enough. I’ll give it a look.

Aww, the badass Queen Guard is dead…..

But how am I checking my inventory when there hungry zombies next to me? Is the scanning feature similar to those of RE: Revelation?

  • Darkchao45

    This looks pretty damn awesome.
