DJ Max Technika’s US Release Has Music From Pop Group KARA

By Spencer . June 8, 2012 . 4:30pm

Pentavision picked up a couple of licensed songs for DJ Max Technika Tune. "Step" from K-pop group KARA is confirmed for the Korean, Japanese, and North American versions of the PlayStation Vita title. DJ Max Technika Tune will also feature "Signalize" by Paul Bazooka and Mr. Funky’s "Rockstar."

DJ Max Technika Tune is based on the arcade game DJ Max Technika 3, but because of the Vita’s screen size it has three lanes instead of four. New note charts were made for all of the game’s songs.

DJ Max Technika Tune will be released as a retail and downloadable game in North America sometime this summer. Pentavision also confirmed they will make a limited edition for the West, but couldn’t tell us what bonus items will bundled inside.

Haha, I just started listening to Kara. They’re pretty good. I hope it’s their korean versions though.

    • pressstart

They have a Japanese version? I don’t really follow their Japanese promotions.

If I had a PSV, I would definitely pick this up. I love Step!

      • Brandonmkii

I know there’s a Japanese verson of “Mister”, but I’m not sure about any others. The video for the Japanese version is awesome, imo :3

Yeah they have a couple of Japanese versions of their songs. I just personally like the flow of Korean when it comes to music when compared to Japanese.

    • noctis_nox

      Why not both? lol

Woot!  I just asked Ishaan about DJ Max Technika not too long ago in the Hatsune Miku Project Diva f demo at E3 article.

K-pop in a US bound Japanese game? Crazy times.

    • Perona

      The game is actually Korean.

      • jujubee88

No, there are musicians from all over the world on DJMAX.

I just think it is mostly Korean singers that come up in the vocal parts.

DJ Max games are made by a South Korean dev.

          • jujubee88

Yes, Pentavision makes them (and they are based in SK).

What I meant is the musical parts. Usually, not all tracks in DJMAX are a one man involvement. I saw a very English sounding name pop up by the name of Todd Durrant for “Waiting for the Sun” and he was a lyrics writer for that song.

Apparently, there is also Japanese versions of tracks on DJMAX. I wonder if those are sung in their native language in the Japanese version of DJMAX.

          • cj_iwakura

Most DJ MAX songs have Japanese versions for their Japanese release.

Why cant K-Pop break through to U.S. mainstream top 40

      • cj_iwakura

Well, first you’d need stations that actually play music not dictated by corporations.

  • shirayuki75

Is this for real?! Amazing! Thanks for the LE, Pentavision. I played a Technika 3 machine this weekend and just fell in love. It’s a great game. STEP was one of my favorite songs, so this announcement is awesome. ;p
