This Week In Sales: Persona 4: Golden To The Rescue

By Ishaan . June 20, 2012 . 2:32pm

Period: The week of June 11th – June 17th (2012)

Top-seller: Persona 4: Golden – 137,076

Nintendo 3DS sales: 61,793 | Total sales: 6,284,541

PlayStation Vita sales: 34,459 | Total sales: 765,514

Persona 4: Golden released on the PlayStation Vita in Japan last week, marking the system’s first major high-profile game since its launch in December 2011. Golden took the #1 spot on the software sales chart and sold over 137,000 copies, but unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to provide much of a boost to PlayStation Vita sales.

While Vita hardware sales increased greatly from weeks prior where they were hovering around the 10k level, Persona 4: Golden’s release merely drove them up to 35,000 for the week. In the larger scheme of things, that isn’t much of a difference at all, especially considering that the boost won’t last long (although, the upcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Crystal White Vita should help).

Meanwhile, consistent sales of Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D lend credence to the theory that the game was in short supply for the first two weeks after its release, and is continuing to sell as more and more people are able to find it in stores. Terry’s Wonderland sold another 66,000 copies for the week, bringing total sales close to 663,000 copies.

The top-20 software sales chart for the week is as follows:

Everytime I see this New Character in the P4: The Golden I can’t help but think. . . Could she have a Connection to what may be Upcoming to P5 ? Because on the Hat’s GoldenEmblem It has the Roman Numeral for 5. . .

    • jello44

It’s the same logo that was on Margaret’s book.

    • Natat

Much like Vincent in P3P, I was also wondering if there was a character in P4G somewhere that has a connection to P5…

    • TheFoolArcana

      Or… its just a regular V… for Velvet Room…

  • NIce. Two great games are topping the list. NIce to see

  • As always, I look forward to Siliconera’s follow-up article determining how much of the stock, Persona 4: Golden, sold through.

Dragon Quest is still going strong! I’m still glad to see Fire Emblem: Awakening hanging around on the charts.

I finally got my Vita last week, Gravity Rush came in on Monday – I’m loving the Vita! I just don’t know what it needs to do, besides a price-cut, to see it do well in Japan. I feel that the games will come, but it needs “something” in the immediate future to help it. What that “something” is? I haven’t got a clue.

    • Perona

Initial shipment for P4G was 150k.

      • Thanks for that! Hmmm… 91% of their initial shipment. That’s really good to hear, but not surprised.

      • Where’d you pull that number from? Media Create haven’t said anything about shipment numbers for P4G thus far, so let’s not start posting rumours in here. :)

        • What the hell? Who’s downvoting random comments like a retard in here?

          • Sweet Sui ♥

It’s been happening to me quite frequently as well, Ishaan (-_-“) Not just here, but on the Open Thread too. People like to abuse this feature… it was bound to happen eventually. One of the major reasons I’ve been dreading the new Disqus, lol.

          • Unfortunately, we can’t hold off from upgrading to the current Disqus version forever, so it’s better that we do it now and all get used to it. :(

          • Sweet Sui ♥

Yep, I suppose you’re right. I’ve already gained somewhat of a resistence to it. It’s still sad to see the the Siliconera community getting such a negative aura, however -__-

          • Maybe we’ll write a post asking people to knock it off this weekend, but if that doesn’t work, just ignore the downvotes. They seem to be absolutely meaningless. Look at the way people downvoted mine and AoiHana’s comments in the RE6 post for no apparent reason.

          • Sweet Sui ♥

Yeah, I noticed that as well. People have nothing better to do it seems. Oh well, it’ll take more than random haters to stop me from posting in any case XD lol

          • I can’t believe this comment is being downvoted…

          • The trolls love us.

          • M’iau M’iaut

@Siliconera15:disqus lets start trolling each other!

          • M’iau M’iaut

With as fast as it was happening on the Open Thread, I am really expecting it might be some bot tied to specific accounts.

          • M’iau M’iaut

Come on folks time to fess up — HOW CAN YOU HATE THE LOLIGODDESS. Post your name here.

          • Hmm… or we could just… harden our hearts? Do downvotes matter that much, really? There’s no real rhyme or reason to these, so we should just look past it. It’s the internet, and we’ll always be prone to trolls.

The thing is, this upvote/downvote system is likely to stay. I don’t think Disqus is going to change it back.

          • mirumu

Do you think it’s worth us commenters asking Disqus via support, twitter, etc to add an option so sites can disable down votes? I’m happy to do so myself if you think it’ll help.

          • We were actually planning to ask Disqus ourselves and see if that would help. I’ll let people know if we have any luck.

          • xavier axol

please do so cause i’m also not liking this new feature. at the very least i would like to know, who is the person downvoting me? to know why? so that i can get my point of view across, in what ever topic we are discussing.

          • I’ve seen your comments being negged on the Open Thread, don’t worry too much about that. Why to they do it? Cos they have nothing better else to do than to “revolt” against the Spam Queen of the Open Thread, of course. :D

          • Sweet Sui ♥

Hehehe~ Spam Queen of the Open Thread, you say? I like that (^o^)/ lol. Speaking of the OT… nobody’s been seeming to be able to get onto it recently. I’ve been denied access to my domain ;_; lol

          • I’m glad to hear you do. I couldn’t get onto it either. Hopefully it will be up and running soon enough because I love reading the comments on the Open Thread. b^^d

          • Sweet Sui ♥

I hope so too ^_^ I’m having randomness withdrawals @[email protected] lol. All this commenting in articles that have actual structure is true insanity (for me at least) :O lol

          • puchinri

Retard isn’t a polite term to use, Ishaan~. Although I noticed lots of
downvotes in here, and some weird, random ones in another thread/article
            or two. Did you guys make some, little troll mad or something? ouo;

          • We’ve made plenty of trolls mad. You have no idea, haha. This is really starting to annoy me, though. I know what I said wasn’t particularly polite, but this is so petty and ridiculous.

          • Sweet Sui ♥

I come back to this article and it’s like O.O. All of these downvotes. Good god, even our reasonable moderator isn’t safe from needless trolls and haters… man, this takes the pettiness cake (-_-“)

          • Solomon_Kano

Too much petty. Even your comment about the downvotes got downvoted. The hell…

          • Sweet Sui ♥

As did all of my comments below this. Talk about ridiculous. It just doesn’t stop.

          • Solomon_Kano

Crazy. And my comment about your comment about downvotes got downvoted… now it’s just funny.

          • All of these downvotes are getting out of control :( It’s a feature that’s being abused and if we could change it we would.

          • Solomon_Kano

Eh. If Disqus won’t change it, we’ll just have to learn to ignore it. Though I do miss being able to see who voted on your comments, they could at least bring that back…

          • mirumu

Someone who’s profile indicated they worked for Disqus posted a few comments on the open thread on the day the new system came into effect. They said being able to see who voted is something they were working on bringing back.

Their new system is essentially a ground-up rewrite so it’s not like they removed features per-se. They just haven’t necessarily re-implemented everything the old system had as of yet.

          • Solomon_Kano

Ah. Ok, that’s great then. Nice of them to say something.

          • @Ishaan:disqus That is the only feature I (a random beta tester at that time) told Disqus in their Beta Thread at their Labs website that will be abused like crazy. Some people think that way too. If you are in an Apple blog and you disagree with a Steve Jobs quote, however constructive you are, you will be downvoted for sure. But the team said their new Disqus will be smarter so…..

That’s one reason why I always choose to just choose “newest” over “best” when viewing the comments thread.

        • Perona

GAF thread. Could be wrong, I guess.

    • malek86

As cool as Persona 4 is, we are still talking about a relatively niche game. The DS was not successful thanks to JRPGs or anime games, it was helped by Animal Crossing, Brain Training, Mario Kart…

If Sony once again only manages to get anime and niche fans to buy their console, they’ll never be truly successful. It will end up like the PSP, with the difference that the market today is smaller due to the smartphones boom (another thing that doesn’t help Sony).

The surprise success of Monster Hunter at least helped the PSP gain some popularity in its last few years. The PSV should start by finding something with the same effect. Nintendo this time got wise, and snatched MH4 before the PSV even came out, so there’s the next problem: competition got fiercer. They’ll need to find something new. Like you, I don’t know what that something could be.

      • @Solomon_Kano:disqus @malek86:disqus

I do wonder what’s going on with P4G’s sales. This is exactly around the amount I expected it to sell (120-130k), but here are a couple factors:

        1. Persona 4 has never been more popular, what with an anime series, a movie, a stage play, multiple concerts, and a fighting game in arcades.

        2. Persona in general has never been more popular than it is now.

Now, Persona 5 may very well come out and sell 150-200k at launch, but I do wonder what’s going on with P4G’s sales, because theoretically, this doesn’t strike me as much of an increase, considering the non-stop promotion Atlus have been doing.

        • malek86

It’s still a port/remake. Some previous PS2 version owners might have chosen not to double-plunge. Also, the console’s price could have deterred even some of the most ardent Atlus fans.

PS. had to rewrite this, my previousone didn’t post for some reason. Disqus is acting up again, I guess.

          • I suppose the question now is, with 137k for Persona first-week, will other devs look at it and feel they could potentially make money off the Vita’s small audience? Or will they still choose to develop for its competitor instead?

          • malek86

… no. Or at least, this will not be the game that has such an effect.

If you consider that Persona has always been on Playstation consoles, that the PSP has seen every chapter in the series in one form or the other, and that like you said Persona 4 is really popular right now, it was a given that P4G was gonna do well. It did outmanage my expectations (I was thinking 110k or so), but in the end, everyone knew it was gonna sell well. This will surprise no one, including developers and publishers, who will most certainly have already taken it into account.

I think it will take some different game’s surprise success, or at least a slew of popular and well-selling releases, before developers start deeming it as a viable platform.

          • Yeah, you’re right. They probably did account for a lot of these factors. In September, we’ll get to find out if Hatsune Miku will be the same.

(side note: New Disqus seems to be good at keeping replies in chronological order. I’m liking this…)

          • malek86

And besides, SMT4 is gonna be released on 3DS. That should tell you something about how Atlus prefers not to take a risk on a less popular series on the PSV.

          • Man, I swear to god, I will be bummed out of my mind if Megaten IV is a first-person dungeon-crawler. Hopefully, Atlus are looking at what modernizing Persona has done for its sales, and will also keep in mind why Nocturne was popular.

          • malek86

Considering they are including the trailer with another first-person dungeon crawler, and that such games are generally cheaper to make (something tells me it would still use sprites), I’m afraid we’ll be looking at exactly that. Well, come August 30th we’ll know.

Though I also wonder how much they are hoping for Soul Hackers to sell, if they are actually including the SMT4 trailer as a purchase incentive.

Atlus normally releases sales projections for their games, right? Maybe one day we’ll eventually know if these games underperformed or not.

          • I’m pretty sure the Megaten trailer is being released with Soul Hackers for exactly that reason (to sell it), haha. And well, the brand association, of course. Keep in mind that Japan hasn’t gotten a Megaten game in quite a while, since Devil Survivor and Persona aren’t branded as such over there.

Fingers crossed, though! I still have hope that they will have learnt from Nocturne and from Strange Journey as well. I don’t think Atlus have any intention of developing a major game on the cheap, so I think this will absolutely be a console quality game, but on a portable (with PS2-level budgets, more or less). After all, that’s the entire point of the 3DS. :)

          • SetzerGabbiani

I firmly believe the only reason Strange Journey was first person was because 1) Hardware limitations of the DS 2) The EO engine was easy to convert.

          • Yeah, I really hope SMTIV is less of a slow, plodding dungeon crawl than SJ is supposed to be…

          • noctis_nox

I’ll edit this one. Since it’s a double post.

            You are predictable. lol

Since you are talking about how devs will react then DD sales should be a factor.
I am quite sure that devs has access to that.

          • noctis_nox

DD sales. Why do people always forget about that?
            P4G could be at 150+K

          • Digital sales in Japan are negligible, and unless we have numbers for them, there’s no way to factor them in anyway.

        • Solomon_Kano

Y’know, I did question if all of the P4 spam could have an adverse effect last week and, while these are great numbers for a Vita game, you’d think such a heavily promoted property would’ve had an even better draw.

As Malek said, it is a PS2 port/remake, but at this particular moment in time P4’s brand recognition is probably bigger than the Persona name itself. If not higher sales for the game itself, I might’ve expected a slightly bigger boost for the hardware with that kind of recognition. Might’ve.

          • It’s not so surprising. 250/300 USD is still a lot to ask for. The library of games available on the Vita isn’t very much either.

          • Solomon_Kano

I’m not surprised myself. I can see why it wouldn’t have done more, but I did think it was possible that it might’ve pushed it a bit further. I was only expecting 40,000 at the most so it’s most of the way to that number anyway.

          • Well, the reason that hardware didn’t go up higher, in my opinion, is because P4G was announced really early on, if you recall. I think Atlus revealed it sometime last year, even before the Vita was released. So, keeping that in mind, I just assumed that the people buying Vitas all this time–as few as they may have been–were doing it partly for this game, since there isn’t much else in the pipeline.

          • Solomon_Kano

That’s a good point. Anyone who wanted the game knew well in advance that it was coming, so they had ample time to get the system. Hm.

That considered, I wonder what Vita sales prior would look like if this had only been announced a few months back? Would there have been less sales weekly with a larger spike now or what? Interesting stuff.

          • I think that’s likely, yeah. Without P4G,we probably would have seen lower week-to-week sales for Vita. On that note, I wonder how many people will fork money over for a Vita when Project Diva f comes around. That has a limited edition going for it, too, so perhaps we’ll see a bigger rise in sales for the week than we did for Persona.

          • Solomon_Kano

I hope so. Project Diva certainly has the potential to deliver an even larger spike than P4G has.

Then again, I have to wonder if the foreknowledge that Project Diva f will also be on PS3 later won’t hurt its Vita sales. It’s a series that’s massively popular on portables, yea, but this is Vita here so I’m a bit skeptical.

          • Worth noting that pre-orders for the Miku bundle (at least the WiFi) version are completely gone basically everwhere except for a few lesser known import stores. Amazon had three pre-order “sessions” and they all sold out within 30 minutes or so. I really wonder how many bundles they’re making.

P4G isn’t a “system-seller” like DQ/MH for example. I do think it will sell a lot more as time goes by and more Vita games gets released, and maybe even a Vita price cut. With that said, what is exactly is being released (in Japan)? I think we’ll have to wait a year or two to see Vita’s full potential in terms of games library. Unless they suddenly discontinue the PSP and refuse devs to make more games! They really should have added some size to it and made a UMD port…

I’ve always felt that the MegaTen series has an equal fanbase in the West and in Japan. It’s not THAT huge in Japan. I can see P4G selling a lot in NA/EU, not only because there are fans of the franchise/game, but also because there’s not much else out there, specially not on the Vita. Apart from the usual Nintendo holiday season stuff, there’s actually not much else coming out within the end of the year.

I think the Vita will stay mainly a niche handheld for the time being. Nothing in it’s library to date tells me otherwise, and while Miku will contribute to Vita sales (and this is because Miku fans want anything Miku, which is why the bundle was made), games like Ys: Celceta and other Falcom stuff for example, just doesn’t have a big enough fan base to give the Vita drastic boost. I think most of the people who wanted MGS HD bought it for PS3, Time Travelers is in the same boat as the Falcom games, and looking at a pre-order list of Vita games, I predict continued sadness apart from the sudden spike here and there (see P4G and Miku).

Without a solid system seller like DQ/FF/MH, it will the case of having enough of games like P4G to form a decent library of at least four or five games to make people on the fence about buying a Vita actually buy one. For me it’s Ragnarok Odyssey, P4G, Miku, Ys: Celceta and Zero Escape, while I’ll also pick up Dokuro, Malicious Rebirth, Assault Gunners and Soul Sacrifice, and maybe New Little King’s Story down the line. Not that I’ve ever bought a system because of one game like they do in Japan.

          • @facebook-1117146030:disqus Pretty much. Vita’s exactly what the PSP was in the years before Monster Hunter came along, and I don’t see the situation changing.

I actually don’t think there was ever anything Sony could have done, outside of not allowing 3DS to build up a head start by releasing a year sooner. Monster Hunter’s fate was always sealed. Of course Capcom would want to move the series to the most popular system in the market. That wasn’t a surprise at all.

    •  All the Vita needs is a Monster Hunter game, with that and PS4 only, the system would reach the sky

      • Monster Hunter will be an interesting one to see how it effects future Vita sales. If they do release one, only time will tell how it will perform. I’m not disputing the popularity of the series just it will influence the Vita sales.

        What is “PS4”?

        •  Sorry I meant to say, P4, Persona 4

          • That’s alright! I thought it was some other game I didn’t know about. :D

  • Jesse Thompson

“137,076” – It would be 137,077 if I could read Japanese. God, I’m so jelly right now. This game is the REASON I purchased a PS Vita, not even joking there.

    • Hraesvelgr

Well, it will come out in North America relatively soon, so it’s not too much of a wait.

    • It’s the reason I grabbed a second copy of Persona 3 Portable from the PlayStation Store… so I can eventually have Persona, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, P3P and P4G all easily accessible on the go.

      • Testsubject909

        You forgot Eternal Punishment.

        • Solomon_Kano

Supposing we get it. And I really hope we do, since having the whole series on one system would be sweet.

        • Eternal Punishment PSP hasn’t received a localization announcement yet, and if I remember right it isn’t in the PlayStation Store yet as a PSOne Classic.

Even if it were – the Vita doesn’t have PSOne emulation yet.

          • Testsubject909

Oh, I’m just very hopeful of an Eternal Punishment PSP release here.

  • Solomon_Kano

So Ishaan’s theory held true. Most people who wanted P4G already had a Vita. Figures.

This is a good first step and, with MGS HD coming in 8 days, I can only hope that this is the beginning of some sort of forward momentum (though I’m honestly not expecting that game to do anything significant). Let’s hope people eat up that Crystal White Vita.

Good to see Tokyo Jungle and DQ are continuing to sell.

    • The Vita Gundam game also remains up there as well.

      • Solomon_Kano

Yea, that’s good too. It’s unfortunate that it had such a steep drop though.

    • Testsubject909

I’m still waiting for Y’s, Dragon’s Crown, Ragnarok Odyssey and hoping for Ciel no Surge…

      • Solomon_Kano

Well, thankfully Ragnarok Odyssey will be here soon. Lord knows when we’ll see Y’s and Dragon’s Crown though. Is Ciel no Surge even coming?

        • Testsubject909

          Like I said. Hoping.

          • Solomon_Kano

            Ah. Missed the hoping.

        • JazzyMan123

          It is ‘Ys’! Not “Y’s”!!!

          • Testsubject909

            My bad, sorry.

Kind of like that manga named I”s not I’s huh?

          • Solomon_Kano

            Ah. Ok.

  • Sweet Sui ♥

Very nice, veryyyyy nice (^o^)/ I’m glad The Golden did so well especially considering that it’s only a remake. I can’t wait for it’s western release. My Vita yearns for this XD lol

    • Why everyone seems to got money 4 a Veeta?

  • João Madalena

Still a bit disappointed with the the sales, was expecting a bit more with all the advertising, this will probably sell the same as persona 3 portable which isn’t much.

    • Hraesvelgr

137k is disappointing? Tons of games in Japan are lucky if they even break 20k these days. Sure, it’s no Monster Hunter, but it’s probably never going to be. Plus, considering the sales of the Vita and its games so far, this is really impressive.

    • Keep in mind that the Vita sold pretty pathetically in Japan.

      • João Madalena

Sure, I know all that but for me persona should be like final fantasy, so i feel disappointed when I see these numbers.

        • >for me
Persona is not Final Fantasy. It never will be. You guys should really stop comparing them with each other.
P4G’s sales are fine. Great, actually. Especially for a system with very disappointing sales.

          • João Madalena

I only compared sale wise, sure i know it will never be, but i wish it was it since it is such an amazing series, i also know this numbers are great for a vita title, the problem is with the series in general isn’t a popular as it should be at least.

          • If this were on any other system, it’d probably sell a lot more. No doubt.

          • Solomon_Kano

I dunno that it’d sell a lot more. All said and done, it’s still a port/remake of a PS2 title. None of these HD titles quite do gangbusters when they release. They do about as well on console as P4G did here. We can definitely say that the larger console audience would afford it more potential sales, but I dunno that it actually would’ve sold too much better than this on even 3DS or PS3.

    • mirumu

It’s first week sales are a little over 40K more than P3P. I think that’s pretty good actually. What is disappointing is that Vita sales didn’t pick so much. That suggests P4G is not a title that will especially grow the Vita’s market share.

I’ll be interested to see how Project Diva F does, but if we get the same kind of pattern there then I think Sony really have to do something drastic to get Vita sales moving.

  • Herok♞

Well at least vita made half the 3DS sales for once so maybe we can finally have more games since all but one big game is out in Japan for it.

  • SirRichard

Lollipop Chainsaw did a lot better than I expected it to, even the 360 version got into the Top 10! I’m sure they’re chuffed, I wonder how it did over here.

Persona 4’s start is pretty good, those are impressive numbers even given the platform’s struggles. And it’s nice to see Tokyo Jungle’s still going!

    • malek86

UK sales seem to be pretty good, it debuted on fourth place in the all-platforms chart during release week.

I know many online retailers ended up selling it for £25 instead of the originally planned £30, so I’m sure that must have helped.

      • SirRichard

That’s pretty promising, even with the reduced price. Glad to hear it did fairly well for itself, it deserved to.

  • Darkrise

I’m glad that Persona 4 The Golden sold quite well, especially Lollipop Chainsaw.

  • Expected numbers, a nice opening week for the game indeed, but the Vita sales still aren’t that impressive. I know Sony doesn’t want a price cut right now, but I guess it kinda needs to happen, or else publishers just won’t want to make games for the Vita that will get the japanese players purchasing the system anytime soon.

Id est, the Vita needs a Monster Hunter and a price cut, lol. Either one would help the system sales somehow, I’m sure of that.

    • Testsubject909

Considering the home base for Sony is Japan, maybe we’ll be hearing a price cut at the TGS since the odds are it’s Sony in Japan that has final say in the matter (which is to say, I never really expected to hear about a price drop for the Vita at E3 unlike some people thought. It would’ve seemed rather strange to me that the western branch would declare a price drop while over at their home base the price would remain the same. You’d think such news would first strike close to home and then spread outward.)

      • Solomon_Kano

At the same time, the Vita’s original worldwide pricing was announced at E3. I didn’t expect them to announce a price drop at E3 either, but not because it would’ve been out of place for them to do so.

        • Testsubject909

True, I think a price drop isn’t likely for this year actually. Though it certainly would be an interesting surprise if there was one.

          • Solomon_Kano

It would be. I don’t think Sony can afford that though. The best they can do is come up with an absolutely incredible software lineup leading into next year. Otherwise…

      • Yeah, that makes perfect sense to me as well, if anything is to happen with the Vita, then it would surely happen domestically first and only then would the same measures apply for the other territories. The vita is an amazing piece of tech that simply needs more software, and a price tag that appeals to the average consumer in the nowadays (trashy) economy.

  • Ironically, during the same month, 3DS got Ocarina of Time 3D in 2011.

  • Glad to see Persona 4 Golden’s doing well! Atlus definitely deserves it.

  • Barrylocke89

To put that into a ratio perspective, almost 18 out of every 100 Vita owners in Japan owns this game.

  • Vampiric

    at least the vita increased

  • Metalsnakezero

Persona 4 will help the Vita!

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

      Hopefully around the world too

  • akeboshi

    People didn’t believe me.
P4G will save the Vita. hahaha

    • Solomon_Kano

Except… it hasn’t. Temporary boost =/= salvation. Gundam started the climb, P4G pushed it further, now we need to hope that MGS can maintain it.

  • kupomogli

“Persona 4: Golden released on the PlayStation Vita in Japan
last week, marking the system’s first major high-profile game since its
launch in December” So Uncharted isn’t high profile?

    • Solomon_Kano

      Not in Japan, apparently.

    • mirumu

What the article said made sense. Uncharted was a launch title. “Since launch” only refers to games released after launch.

That said, the best selling Vita launch title in Japan was Hot Shots Golf. Uncharted came in second.

  • Repede91

Wonder what the digital sales would add to P4’s numbers?

  • Roberto Armando Iraheta

I’m glad to see it doing well. If it didn’t their whole multi-media marketing wasn’t worth jack. I hope this means we’ll see more of their stuff on the Vita, because honestly, it’s a pretty sweet device. (Yeah, I got it, now leave alone haters >_<)

  • Alexander Aubert

i need more JRPG on my vita, i need more i need MOARRRRRRR

  • I’m not surprised by good sales of P4G, after all P4 is spreading like a wildfire with it’s many adaptions/spin-offs. With that said, can anyone tell me where someone on Tvtropes might have gotten info that Cindy Robinson will voice Labrys ?

  • Crevox

Surprised they didn’t do a special vita for Golden, everyone knew it would sell well

  • Radiosity

Playing it as we speak. It’s awesome, end of discussion :D The amount of changes that improve the gameplay are just staggering, it feels so much more refined than the original and the original was already pretty damn awesome.

    • Yuri

Is this like what P3:FES was to P3?

      • Radiosity

Kind of. There are two new social links (Marie and one other I can’t mention cus it’s a massive spoiler) with a ton of new personas to go with their arcana, a TON of new content including various little things that don’t affect anything much but just add atmosphere and character, new scenes, the shuffle system is entirely redone, they’ve changed a LOT of things to make the things that were tedious before slick and entirely non-tedious now. Honestly it almost feels like a new game with how much polish they’ve added :D

No female route but then unlike P3 P4 had social links for all main characters anyway, P3 obviously didn’t have social links for the male characters so adding the female playthrough was a nice touch there. There are way too many changes and improvements to list though, it’s just awesome (and there are way more enhancements than they openly revealed before it was released, I’ve been grinning ear to ear since I started playing because of all the new stuff).

Oh, and there are new social links events for existing characters you can view at night when leaving the house, similar to the extra events with characters on sundays and other non-critical events. Gardening with Nanako too of course, and the scooters (haven’t reached those yet though). So yeah, all in all it’s very impressive, makes the original game feel unfinished almost.

  • @Siliconera15:disqus @Ishaan:disqus I know this is out topic but…… wht up w/h the OT as of late? It said server error when I try to access it……@SuigetsuHiramura:disqus also had this prob so I assume its not only me……

And since you guys can’t remove the dislike feature….Let us all do this–>

Long live SMT and Persona and… get the idea. And localise Miku too.

  • joe ling

Hopefully it does more in the states. This and AC3 liberation are the only thing making me want a vita. Also good news that Lollipop chainsaw is doing well.

  • RmanX1000
