Nintendo’s 20th anniversary Kirby compilation, Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition, was further detailed today. In addition to the six Kirby games spanning the Game Boy through the Nintendo 64, the compilation will also include special challenge stages, and a museum mode that illustrates Kirby’s history. Here’s a trailer:

Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition will be released on September 16th in North America for the Wii.

    AAAGGGHHHH~~DORABLE….!!!!! D:

    But problems:
    - I don’t know… the first few Kirby games just.. don’t really offer anything anymore to be of real retail value.
    - If anything, they should have but the GBA/DS remakes on there; I don’t think they should have been excluded, “classic” or not, it should have been an option or something
    - REALLY?? Kirby history gives facts that happened in that year NOT related to Kirby??? Wtf… who cares?
    - You can buy most of these on the Wii console, doubt it’s worth a purchase unless you missed Dreamland 3.

Well they also do this for Mario anniversary so this is not suprising here.  I believe at least these one, they had the courtesy to give more lol. Extra minigame, Nintendo 64 Kirby there.

Rather Mario anniversary which is pure lazy for me.

It doesn’t worth it? If you want to download everything separately, it costs… about 40 dollars, which is about this game’s retail price, I guess. And having a hard copy is always better. Also, you get extra challenge stages and some extra features, an OST CD,a  Kirby history booklet… So I guess it’s worth it. Plus it includes Super Star, which is the best Kirby game ever. I guess it would have been really awkward to include the DS remake… I mean how exactly would you do it?

This compilation contains the originals of every non-spinoff/remake Kirby game that Sakurai made. That is the greatest compilation in video game history.

I agree that Nightmare in Dreamland would have been great fun on the Wii (finally get a chance to play with 4 people!), but I’m glad they went with the original instead. Even though Sakurai worked on NiD (he left HAL before any other remakes were made), the original seems much more impressive, probably because of how advanced it was on hardware as old as the NES.

Anyways, really looking forward to this!

…by the way, what’s with the “Kirby’s History” mentioning Bill Clinton?

Oh Dedede. It’s okay, we love you and your big belly. Kinda surprised Kirby was not just okay with Dedede bashing him into the screen but also actively planning on it. Guess that’s what friends are for!

Also what, will they release a separate collection for the 3DS with all the DS and portable titles or something? So many games missing…

Really wish a price was announced for this. But oh well. Still gonna get this, despite having most of the games either on VC/eShop or physically.

Looks like they put some effort into this package.  Mario’s anniversary collection was a let down.

As someone who’s never been a big fan of Kirby, I’ll probably check this out. If nothing else, I have fond memories of Kirby 64.

I’m so excited for this~ :D It’ll be amazing to be able to play some of the classic kirby games!

To be honest, this looks rather lackluster.
They could have fit in way more Kirby games inside a Wii Optical Disc. Say, for instance, the SNES and GB spinoffs (like tilt and tumble with wiimotecontrols? yeah) or some of the GBA/DS games.
2 GB games, 2 SNES games and 1 N64 game doesn’t even cover a tenth of what a Wii Optical Disc has to offer (of course they have that menu and the Return to Dreamland Challenge Stages + Museum Videos; but I doubt it even gets close to the maximum size).

you forget that kirby adventure is there

Kirby’s Adventure looks a lot better in the collection, the Virtual Console variation looks pretty bad due to the giant glitchy bar on the left had corner of the screen.
