BloodRayne 2 Pours Down On PlayStation Network This Week

By Ishaan . July 2, 2012 . 10:30am

No PSOne Classics this week on the PlayStation Network—instead, Sony are putting up a PlayStation 2 Classic: BloodRayne 2.

BloodRayne 2 takes place 60 years after the first game and the story involves Rayne hunting down her half-siblings, who are conspiring to blanket the world in something called “the Shroud,” which would let vampires walk around in broad daylight.

How about a new BloodRayne game, or even a HD edition.

They had Bloodrayne Betrayal not that long ago

      • SoulEmbrace2010

I know. I mean a game that’s not a side-scroller. (Don’t get me wrong, I have the game.) The new game should be a game similar to Devil May Cry and Bayonetta.

     Hm…
… on the one hand, trying to save money for a 3DS LL.
… on the other hand, BloodRayne 2.
That sounds like the setup for a joke, but this is a serious dilemma for me.

Bloodrayne 2 isn’t expensive, you can get both…

Their choices for PS2 Classics are… questionable.

This game wasn’t particularly well received, or even a cult hit.

    • http://papped.webatu.com papped

If you haven’t tried it, the game was actually pretty fun though.

      • malek86

I played the first one on PC. It was decent, but not enough to keep my interest for long.

        • http://papped.webatu.com papped

It’s a lot better than the first one

    • zferolie

I actually really enjoyed it. Sure it’s full of camp and silly and has lots of sex appeal, but it was fun too, and it enjoyed itself.

Is it the best game ever? Hell no. But it is fun

  • LustEnvy

Or you know, Sony can release the games that actually make SOME sense.

    • Anime10121

God, Sony! Listen to this person! They have ALL the answers.  Of all the classics that came out for PS2, only 2 or 3 have been actually released as “classics” on PSN.  I dont understand why its so freaking hard/takes so long for Sony or Nintendo to get good games on their service.

      • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

        1.  Isn’t it up to the original publishers?
        2.  If all the good stuff shows up right away, there won’t be much to look forward to later.  A good stream of releases is fine (hopefully PS2 classics pick up that is).
        3.  What some find “unwanted” may be something people like.  For instance I see people complain about lack of the “good stuff” for Virtual Console but some do appreciate Turbografx ports for example.  Doesn’t mean VC and PSN is perfect lineups just saying.
In this case having more PS2 classics means more options to purchase games not just looking forward to Bloodrayne 2.

        • Anime10121

           1. Yeah it is up to the publishers  to decide what titles to release(although Sony/Nintendo is the one who decides when it releases I think).

          2.  Im not asking for them to dump EVERYTHING good at one time, PS2 classics have been going on for more than half a year and we have two games thats generally accepted to be great Odin Sphere (which I dont care much for) and Persona 3.  The others have their niches but aren’t really well received games.

          3.  I do hope that somebody out there is finding the Sony lineup to their liking, but honestly, you dont think they could try and do a little better?  VC is awesome now but it took almost til the end of the Wii’s life before we started getting good games not made by Nintendo.

oh and 4.  If this comment sounds “snarky” in anyway, its not intended to be, it was just easier to answer your numbers with numbers :)

  • Nitraion

Give me Shadow hearts series  then we talk

    • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

      Hmm…
I wonder if Warner Bros has the localization version.  They own Midway now after all and they seem interested in Japanese games (Lollipop Chainsaw prime example).

      • Nitraion

Well i dunno about if that’s true that will be sad no one will knows what series although shadow hearts 1 was weaker for me( i play SH3 followed by SH2 then SH1 it’s backward but it’s ok XD)
But SH 2 is boss i think all JRPG lover should play it and it will be nice again if they included director cut version of SH2 lol XD

        • Nemesis_Dawn

You still didn’t play the original game in the series then. It’s a PS1 JRPG called Kouldelka (which I may be spelling wrong) that Shadow Hearts 1 was a spin-off to.

I would like to see Final Fantasy XII as a PS2 Classic release. It’s been nearly a year now since X was gonna get a HD makeover and we’ve heard nothing ever since.

P.S. Will Persona 3 FES ever get an EU release on PSN?

Not a bad action game for its time, but I can think of a lot of other games that I’d really like to see on the network that are conspicuously absent.

Oh good! This is a welcome surprise. I beat the first BloodRayne not too long ago, so this will be a sure pickup for me. :)
