Yakuza, Zone Of The Enders, And Okami HD Compared With PS2 Versions

By Spencer . July 26, 2012 . 1:50am

HD remasters are kind of like putting make up on, this PlayStation commercial suggests. I suppose that’s a fair statement because Zone of Enders HD Collection looks prettier in HD running at 60fps. Okami is even more stunning in 1080p and best of all it’s only $19.99 in North America.

Sony Computer Entertainment America will release Ratchet and Clank Collection in North America on August 28. So far, Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Edition is just for Japan.

I’ll be buying all of these HD collections. Well, supposing Sega brings us Yakuza, of course.

    Dear Sega,

    DO IT!

    • Shinji Kazuya

    • Nitraion

      Do it sega !!!

      • Solomon_Kano

Tears of joy if they ever do it. Tears, I tell you.

        • Nitraion

Maybe i can’t drop tear anymore if that actually happend… XD

          • Solomon_Kano

It’ll be a cure for tears and a cause for them at the same time lol.

I would love to see Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 get an HD ports, if God of War on PSP can get that then VC 2 and 3 should get that treatment and it’ll help get attention in the west.  Also I think VC 1 should have trophies patch like MGS 4 is getting.

        • Nitraion

          Hey don’t steal my ideas…XD
yep VC1 should get trophies too there is no word as “Too Late”
          Director Hideo prove it.. :D

as long as any hd collection don’t reach the 50 dollars tagged price then i’m cool with sega, konami, capcom, and sony making all these wonderful hd remakes. also does any of these companies really do the work of making their games hd? or is it companies like bluepoint that does the whole work and then reports the status of these games to whoever hires them? i want to know the process that goes in the making of a hd game.

      • Solomon_Kano

It’s usually another company like Bluepoint. Actually, so far, I think all HD ports have been handled by outside companies. Except Capcom’s and Beyond Good and Evil HD, perhaps.

I’ve only see one HD collection hit $50 (MGS HD) and, with 3 games over the previously established 2 that you get for $40, I’d say Konami was justified in their pricing on that. I doubt we’ll see anymore at that price though.

  • Ricardo Guedes

I wanna some rpgs in HD !!

  • Yamaneko22

    Video doesn’t work :(

  • s07195

Wow, it’s a nice blurry screen!

  • Ayaka

I’m not really sure how to explain my two cents about this.
I love retrogaming, expecially when it comes to RPG/SRPG/adventures and novels.

The price for Okami HD is fantastic (but as a collector, I still prefer the retail version of a game, can’t be helped) and the improvement is undeniable but, there is really so much of a difference between the two parts? I mean, I played Okami on PS2 not too much time ago and I didn’t feel like it has such a bad resolution.

Maybe it’s just my opinion… whatever, I’ll see with my eyes when it comes.

    • Keitaro004

Did you play it on a HD TV? Most PS2 games looks like garbage on a HD TV, mostly due to the SCART cable. I guess that’s what they did.

  • CasualGamer

Yakuza HD needs to be released here considering that they’ve already been localized. Put those resources to use Sega.

  • Pichi

Still looks to me that they are making Okami on PS2 look worst on purpose to make the HD version more appealing. It didn’t look that bad or blurry on PS2.

    • Godmars

Like making something “old fashion” when someone whats to sell something that “does it better” isn’t SOP. from time immemorial.

I still have my copy of ZOE2 but will probably get the collection for the new features and art.

  • Mago Iichi

It looks the same to me, just like all the other HD remakes.

I’ll be buying the HD collection of Okami like everyone else, but those screenshots of the PS2 version seem to have been fiddled with, it did NOT look that bad.

The MGS HD Collection wasn’t $50 it was $40.  I remember because it was bullshit that the Vita version only had 2 and 3 and is the same price.

    • Solomon_Kano

I could’ve swore it was $50. Guess not.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I guess the video is private now?

Looking forward to picking up Yakuza HD…I really want  Shenmue 1 & 2 HD.
