Nintendo DSi Getting Matte Red And Matte Blue Models

By Ishaan . August 1, 2012 . 9:30am

While Nintendo will be launching the Nintendo 3DS XL in North America later this month, they haven’t forgotten about their older DS model, the Nintendo DSi. This week, the DSi is getting two new colours in the U.S.—Matte Red and Matte Blue—and here’s what they look like:

…if it were to be released 2 years ago, that is

  • gquain

cool, if people start regretting the  3ds, they can now exchange it for this one here!

  • $30632660

That’s all I have to say.

  • idrawrobots

I don’t mind this other than the fact that just about all the US gets in colors is reds, blues, and variations of.

  • That shade of blue is exactly the shade I want forever.

  • I like these solid colors, tempted to get one.

  • Nice colors, but i’m surprised to see this for the DSi instead of 3DS. I’d think it too little too late, no? Is anyone still buying a DSi this late in the game, rather than a 3DS?

    • rebecasunao

I know a few people who bought one last year. 3DS is still expensive here and probably in other countries too.

    I thought they were extinct?

The picture of the closed red one… I though it was a pokedex.

Might as well make a Clear DS Lite while they’re at it so we can see the inside without cracking it open :P

Now that my friend I would buy! – The DSi was such a filler bust to me.

  • KotaroInugami

Look nintendo, just lemme know if you’re releasing the special edition Fire Emblem 3DS in America, because if so, I’ll hold off on getting my 3DS. :/

    • Just buy one whenever.  I doubt they will push Fire Emblem at all. You can wait until the game comes out to be on the safe side.

      • KotaroInugami

I don’t purchase a system until it has at least 4 games I want. That being said, the 3DS does not. I only want to play Kid Icarus and Theaterythm (SP). BUT! Fire Emblem is so bad ass on my list of series that I would honestly have purchased a 3DS for that one game. But if the 3DS bundle comes out, might as well get that. :)

    • LittleMofreaky

Have fun playing nothing until like Spring.

      • Patience is a virtue.

        • LittleMofreaky

Sorry, I guess I wanted KotaroInugami to have too much fun.

          • You just came off like a douche “You’re not playing 3DS now!?  Ho boy do I feel sorry for you.”

The 3DS isn’t even really worth it at the moment unless you know Japanese.

          • KotaroInugami

Yeah, I don’t feel I’m missing too much. I only get a system if it has 4 games I want. I want to be sure I’ll get alot of use from the system. It’s great that it has games to suit your tastes, but I love games with an anime type of look and RPGs. I’ll assure you, with my other systems I am not bored. :)

  • Tom_Phoenix

That’s preety cool (especially the blue one), but I have my eyes on a Burgundy DSi XL. I just with NoE would drop the price of the DSi and DSi XL, just like how NoA dropped the price in North America.

  • Matte original 3DS freaking when.

  • RmanX1000

A little late isnt it??? :S

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Nintendo of America really never failed to suprise me here especially in a bad way there.T_T

When they release 3DS the first time there, they also release new bundle DSi XL there which i believe is one of the worst move there and now this again???T_T
