Adol’s Partners In Ys Celceta: Sea Of Trees Are The Key To Opening New Routes

By Spencer . August 2, 2012 . 4:04pm

Adol travels with different characters in Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees and Cama is no slouch. She has throwing knives, which can cut ivy in the forest to climb on and lower suspension bridges.

Dulen’s unique action is opening special treasure chests scattered in the game.

Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees is the first game in the series with a day to night system. The in-game clock changes from morning –> noon –> evening –> night. Certain events only happen at specific times of the (Ys) day.

Every time I see Ys related stuff like this, I hope somewhere hidden in the article it says “Oh yeah, XSEED is localizing it and it will be available early 2013”. I’m looking forward to the day cycle system though, and I can’t wait for that super speed running section. I don’t know what it was but it looks awesome.

Hoping for some awesome bosses like Ys Seven, they were all unique and I <3 the dragons.

yeah i know what you mean, in my mind the word ys and sora no kiseki always reminds me of xseed (as if falcom and xseed are somehow the same company). i always said that if we annoy the crap out of xseed asking them non stop, then i’m sure they’ll find a way ( i’m also hoping they bring it over along with zero no kiseki evolution).

  • Hey Spencer, you keep writing her name as “Cama”… but it’s Carna (CaRNa). The katakana is “kaana,” not “kama” or “kaama.” And the classic spelling from other versions of Ys IV has always been either Carna or Karna.

    •  I do kind of wonder whether it might not be better to render her name as “Kanna” or something similar, though. It’d avoid confusion with the OTHER fairly prominent Falcom Carna, in the OTHER major franchise. :V (Even better, the other Carna’s name is actually SPELLED カルナ! As if things weren’t confusing enough already!)

      • Ehh, I’ve always been of the opinion that if there’s an official English spelling that sounds reasonable, it’s best not to mess with it. And “Carna” is a perfectly reasonable English name. “Kanna” would not only be a bit inaccurate to the katakana, but also sounds like the sort of name you’d give to a gentle magic-user character — not an in-your-face powerhouse like Carna.

I think having two different Carnas is fine. Sparks discussion, you know? ;)

  • This is certain to be a great game. Another Ys success, I predict.
