Soul Sacrifice Lets Players Create Weapons Like Plant Swords

By Spencer . August 2, 2012 . 2:30am

If you’re aren’t OK with giving up your eyes or spinal cord in Soul Sacrifice, you can make a weapon out of vegetation. A Plant Sword can be created by sacrificing a Sword Sapling. When you strike an enemy, the Plant Sword stiffens up so you can slash away. Might not be the most effective weapon, but it beats chopping off your arm.

The Thunder Axe looks like a stronger weapon and you can make one of these by offering a Razor Thunder Stone. This axe is imbued with electricity and dishes out heavy damage.

Soul Sacrifice has monsters like the Griffin to battle. Sony Computer Entertainment has Soul Sacrifice slated for release this winter.

Plant sword….that has literally been on my dream weapons as a child. No need to convince me anymore, Im buying it :D

  • Syn

You can say she “Sapped”him to death…..get it ..plant…sap.. oh hell.

    • PoweredByHentai

Hey man, leaf him alone.  XD

      • XiaomuArisu

         Your puns are unBEARable…..

      • LynxAmali

         Stop that.

You’re barking up the wrong tree.

        • I agreed… You wouldn’t want to get stump’ed on, would you???

        • BadenBadenPrinny

At least you decided to branch out and try a new pun

          EDIT: lol wrong dood

this game is going to rock! I really really really hope it’s not purely mission based & online focused, I’d really rather have a great single player experience like Demon’s souls / dark souls.

  • Herok♞

Really but where’s the fun if you aren’t risking life and limbs to possibly win the fight?

    • Depends… Do you really wanna sacrifice your precious “jewels” just to summon Bahamut???

      • Herok♞

You know the point would have been lost if I was female but other then my “jewels” and spine everything is fair game.

  • SirRichard

And so it begins, the quest to sacrifice everything I can just to see what weapon or spell pops out of it.

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

If only you didn’t know what you would get before hand, it would make the sacrificing aspect a pretty cool gamble (and funny too).

Me: “Ok, that tree looks sturdy, I’ll sacrifice it for a sword.”
      *Sacrifices tree*
*Instantly gets mauled by a laughing Griffin*

  • neetyneety

Now this makes me think about the thousands of possible results that can come from sacrificing any and every object/body part in the game. Aww jeez, I really hope this gets localized.

  • Nikolai Sumcad

That plant sword is looking pretty bad-ass. Loving the design.

  • Syn

Now I see why they have no trees in the environments…….scene:
“1st guy: “Dude sacrifice your arm so we can have a massive magic cannon”
2nd guy: “Screw that! i’ll just sacrifice this giant fern” *zap* “Booya!! giant Tree    canon bi%#h!”
    :two years later:
1st guy: “Damnit, no more trees, oh well…LEAF BLADE!!”
2nd guy: *thoughts*:”or maybe I can take your spine and make Excalibur, mwahahahha”.

  • Jake Deerberg

Using trees for magic? i’ve seen enough Evil Dead to know where this is going

    • XiaomuArisu

       “Googles Evil dead and trees”
      “Reads video description”
      Does NOT watch the video”
      What the….What did they smoked?

      • Christopher Nunes

Sorry… but what is Evil Dead? Killer Trees? :/

        • XiaomuArisu

Its a horror movie, havent seen it but the videodescription was”Tree rapes girl”
There exist things I dont want to see rape is one of them.

          • Christopher Nunes

Could be someone typing it in the description for laughs, but I agree to stay away from it.

It’s a horror movie, right? I think the evil tree kills this girl in a way that could come off as “forcing onto” the individual?

          • Göran Isacson

Oho, no ambiguity about it: a demon-possessed tree stuffs branch-tentacles up the ladys lady-parts. Pretty brazen about it too.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

That golden metallic armored Griffin design looks pretty cool. Definitely glad this game is shaping up to bring one quality experience. Wish this year would go faster though… =/

  • CasualGamer

Love the character design in this. Although I think using rocks would be more effective than branches and leaves, and also saves the environment.

  • Hinataharem

I’ll sacrifice my wallet to get this localized.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This weapon really gives new chance for sacrificing things there lol.^_^

Hmm…… *thinking of sacrificing banana trees lol.*

  • Jirin

Everything I hear about this game makes me really hope the combat is as good as the concept.  Can’t wait to give it a shot.

    • DarthSithZero

       Better don’t dissapoint

  • konsama

The weapon design is superb, and so are the environments the only thing left is to see actual game footage, i want to see how the crafting system works in practice.

    •  You can see some multiplayer gameplay here:

      • konsama

Thanks, hadn’t seen that, the game looks good but IMO a bit unpolished, tho it’s still a demo so i bet it’s better than that point now.

With the elemental attacks it reminded me of a kind of a gritty Avatar (nick one obv) benders.

      • PoweredByHentai

        That, was godly.  :D

  • Solomon_Kano

Yea, I’m looking forward to getting my hands on this later in the year. Sounds great.

  • Oh, man! This game is just becoming more awesome with every article. The Plant Sword gives a whole new meaning “to going green”.

  • komiko12

Veggies are the best things to whack foes with!

  • Syn

You can actually see the weapon in action in the gameplay trailer :   its at 0:55, the character on the left is using said plant weapon, seems to transform from branch to its bladed mode.

  • tha_Chiller

Vita gonnna have sum guud RPGz huh? ahuck!

Seriously, glad Capcom isn’t there to hold Kenji down. Fvck the machine!
