Fire Emblem: Awakening DLC Missions Are For Master Tacticians

By Spencer . August 6, 2012 . 1:31am

Nintendo is preparing a new round of Fire Emblem: Awakening downloadable content and these missions are for "tactician gods." Well, not all of the Path of the Tactician God missions are tough. Harvest Festival Bonds is designed for fans of Fire Emblem: Awakening’s cast of characters.

Characters will speak frankly with one another during this mission. Don’t worry too much about the enemies on the map, Harvest Festival Bonds should be a cakewalk since it has a one star difficulty rating. Harvest Festival Bonds costs 200 yen, 100 yen if you download the map before September 30.

Looking for a challenge? Then download The Border Between Life and Death. This map has a special condition where allied units lose 1HP each turn start with 1HP (thanks for pointing this out Tommy!). Players will fight undead soldiers on this map too, so Border Between Life and Death is for five star tacticians. Nintendo plans on selling this map for 250 yen.

It is bad if this game is the reason I will eventually buy a 3DS?

This, Devil Survivor Overclocked, Bravely Default and Virtue’s Last Reward to be honest.

    • It’s not bad at all. People like what they like. Plus it’s your money. I mean those are 4 great games. Nothing wrong there.

      • Sardorim

One great game is usually reason enough. I’ve been playing the hell out of SRW z2.2, that game is just so awesome! So I see nothing wrong with getting a 3DS for just 4 great games.

        • Well there you go. lol I mean nobody says you have to get every game for a system to buy it.

    • Those that you named are reason I’ll eventually get a 3DS too, mate.

  • Unknown

Fire Emblem and Golden Sun possibly my 2 favorite games that were on the GBA. Glad to see one of them make a return to 3DS

    • Golden Sun has a 3DS game? O-o

      • Rentekabond

        He’s referring to Fire Emblem.

        • Then he shouldn’t have mentioned Golden Sun. >_<; It's misleading.

          • Rentekabond

You just read it wrong. That was entirely your own fault.

He said that those were his 2 favorites GBA games and that he was happy that one of them (Fire Emblem, Obviously) was on the 3ds.

  • Herok♞

My only question is are characters who are killed in dlc, killed permantly, if so what is the point in attempting dlc unless it offers a soild reward?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Hmm….. pleasing the RNG godess by trolling yourself?^_^

    • isfuturebright

I think this are bonus maps. So you just load your save file and choose the characters according to that file. I’m just guessing so :P

    • You probably lose them permanently so tread lightly. lol The reward is more game to play. That is basically what (good) DLC is for.

    • Tommy Lee

To dedicated Fire Emblem fans, the challenge offered by the “Ultimate Training” DLC series is probably reward enough. Besides, it’s not like you have pay over and over again every time you want to replay the map from the start.

  • Sardorim

They are such teases… I just want the game to arrive out west already. It’s a system seller, darn it!

    • They already said 2013 launch, I think.

      • Sardorim

I know that, but I’m impatient. Wish they gave us a more set in stone date. If only the 3DS wasn’t region locked than I could play it than get the English release when it comes out.

  • James Smith

This is dlc that does not take advantage of consumer’s patience and good will.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

      DLC done right?^_^

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    I’m so going to lose…….

  • Border of life and death, huh? That sounds awesome. They should make a map where everyone’s health is halved. Then it really is life or death! Muahahaha!

Anyway, yeah. This sounds like awesome DLC.

EDIT: Reduced to 1 HP is so much better.

  • Ty Arnold

I’m pretty sure Border Between Life and Death doesn’t make units lose 1 HP every turn.

It sets everyone’s HP to 1 at the start of the map. Have fun.

  • Ty Arnold

Also, is it just me, or is every game getting swimsuit DLC these days?

  • Damian

The artwork looks too much FF-like. That’s something I liked about the original games, not straps and weird harajuku clothes all over the place.
Also multiple day 1 DLC? Japanese are not going to be happy about this.

    • Rentekabond

Day 1? The game’s been out for a few months already.

  • Hope to see more high difficulty maps, nothing will top Thracia 776 though.

  • Tommy Lee

It’s actually whoever is positioned on the spike trap tiles that get their HP reduced to 1 at the start of a turn. There are a couple of “safe zones” on the map, such as the starting position of some of your units and the 3×3 area in the center, but the majority of combat during the mission will be on the spikes.

  • tha_Chiller

if this doesn’t come to North America i can’t live anymore

    • Reggie already (accidentally) told us it was coming.

      • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

        Sure, accidentally ;D

        • It was. He kind of got into a bit of trouble. lol

  • Deleted :P

    • Uh… 1) read the rules. Never complain about consoles. 2) this is a Nintendo IP so it wouldn’t ever be on Vita. No you will probably want to delete this post. Ishaan will be on you soon enough.

      • Ah, sorry, i get those rules. not sure how to delete it though.
