Is Sega Continuing The Shining Series With Shining Ark?

By Spencer . August 13, 2012 . 5:50pm

imageSega’s most recent Shining series title, Shining Blade, came out for PSP in March 2012. While Sega hasn’t said anything about future plans for Shining games they may be developing on Shining Ark.

Siliconera discovered a trademark for Shining Ark recently filed by Sega in Japan. Right around this time a one year ago, Siliconera dug up a trademark for Shining Blade. Perhaps, Sega is working on a continuation or remake of the first person Saturn game Shining the Holy Ark?

They need to give more of them anime. After experiencing the shining golden ricks bread of happiness, I definitely want to have more of this series. I still miss Le couers and Rickku.

A good Shining game in the years 2000? That can’t be happening!

Shining Force Feather (developed by Flight-Plan) was actually pretty damn good, but of course Sega in their infinite wisdom didn’t bring it out of Japan, so no-one knows about it.

      • Don’t forget Shining Blade either. It just came out earlier this year.

      • Morricane

I only thought it to be decent…:/
I can’t remember much of it, except that the story was very cookie cutter anime-ish and it was more on the easy side…

  • Shiloh Emerald

Please say that it is true!!

  • Crevox

    Or it’s being ported.

I only played and enjoyed Shining Force

Why does this remind me of Golden Sun. They’re not the same makers but the resemblance is uncanny.

      It is Camelot :)

  • Chow

Yes, more Shining games in the vein of Shining in the Darkness!

  • TiamatNM

shining the holy ark is great

  • Solomon_Kano

Oh? I’m interested to know if it’ll still be on PSP, whether it’s a new game or a port of Holy Ark. Shining Blade looked great, so it’s a pity it couldn’t leave Japan.

  • VenerableSage

Wasn’t there supposed to be some kind of note/leaflet/paper that came with Shining Blade that was going to detail what was next for the series? Did anything ever come out of that?

There was more adventures there, im sure of it… speaking of which what ever happend to shining cross? why didnt sega console that as an MMO? why are these people still in charge? make games but never do anything worth while with the IP? ive never understood that. but id love to see more of the kindom of Enrich…

    • Because it’s still successful in the arcades. Bringing a console version out would kill the arcade sales – but i agree it would be nice to have a console version, but i guess we’ll have to wait for the arcade version to wane.

They could bring out “quest for d” though in the interim – i think that franchise has been usurped by Cross anyway.

  • FFmax

Whatever it is I’m 90% sure that it isn’t coming over here :p

  • Wow, that would be amazing.  Shining the Holy Ark is probably my favorite RPG of all time.  It tickles my nostalgia bone even more than games like Beyond the Beyond, Earthbound, and Shadowrun for some reason.  I never import and I would preorder this game day 1.

  • Oh wow! Here’s to hoping!

When i saw the picture on the front page i was like “Maximo is that you!”, alas my dream of a new Maximo game has been crushed.

  • isfuturebright

    Bring Shinning Force 3 now!

  • Sega’s return to classic Shining would be welcome.

  • Vampiric

more shining is not a bad thing
