Look’s Like Level-5’s Guild 01 Is Heading Overseas

By Spencer . August 13, 2012 . 3:00am

imageLevel-5 International America is in the process of localizing Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and perhaps Guild 01 too.

Level-5 filed trademarks for Crimson Shroud and Liberation Maiden in the United States. Both of these are games inside Guild 01 and Liberation Maiden is a direct translation of the title for Suda51’s 3DS shooter. Guild 01 also has games made by SimTower creator Yoot Saito and a weapon shop management sim designed by a Japanese comedian.

For more information about Guild 01 check out our hands on impressions of three of the four titles in the collection.

  • I hope this comes to Europe too, that region.lock thing is horrible. It seems that lately some good 3DS games are being announced for the west, let’s see if they announce Dragon Quest Monsters too, I’d love that.

    • landlock

I can see Nintendo Europe publishing it.

  • neetyneety

Well, hoorah! I’ve actually been asking for localization for this game ever since I first heard news about it (especially for Crimson Shroud). I read some pretty bad impressions way back when though, so I’m not quite as excited as I used it to be, but will be putting this on my list regardless.

  • So fucking excited for this :) (excuse my french)

    •  That’s English dummy.

  • Setsu Oh

thats very cool is the 3ds regloked?

  • Well, that’s surprising news! W00t!

  • SirRichard

It’d be interesting to try this out, I’m hoping someone considers it for Europe because the 3DS is still really hurting for games.

    • If you are interested, the spanish site Deculture.es just confirmed it for Europe too :)

      • SirRichard

That’s great news, and it seems it was done by Level-5 themselves, so I wonder who the publisher is. Normally, they go through Nintendo of Europe for basically everything except Ni no Kuni (so far), maybe their American studio is handling it.

      • Julien_N

Nice! If Suda51’s shooting game turns out great, I could be tempted to purchase it. To be honest, it is the only game that caught my interest and an individual eShop release would be quite practical in my case.
Oh, I also think a box release would most likely require a boxart change, by the way. XD

  • riceisnice

File trademarks for your other games as well Level-5.

  • kylehyde

Unless that the other 2 games get trademarked, I have the feeling that those two games (Crimson Shroud and Liberation Maiden) are going to come as download titles. It would be very arbitrary that only those two games came in the cartrige.

  • Since the game comes with the Time Traveller trailer or demo (,correct me if I’m wrong), that could also help push that game for a localization also.

    • Tylor Makimoto

Doubtful, considering it’s horrible reception in JP.

      • Can’t always judge how a game does in Japan with the rest of the world.

        • Solomon_Kano

True, but there’s this belief that a publisher is more encouraged to bring a game over if it does well domestically. I’m not really sure why since plenty of games have done well and stayed in Japan (Type-0) and plenty of series are more successful outside of Japan despite coming from there (Soul Calibur), so there doesn’t really seem to be any sort of relationship between their performance and the decision to publish.

          • Totally agree, a good strong domestic sales does help encourage localizations. Some games probably want to be brought over but no publisher wants to take the risk on some titles. Type-0 might be getting a Vita update for a western localization – this is just my opinion – that will capitalize on the Vita. I would’ve thought Japan would like Soul Calibur?

          • Solomon_Kano

I still can’t see Type-0 getting ported to Vita since that would only be of benefit to Squenix internationally and, even then, wouldn’t be guaranteed. I’d love it if it did happen though.

On Soul Calibur, yea, Japan’s always been less receptive to it than the west. All things considered, it does have the most western aesthetic of any current Japanese fighter. That’s in addition to actually being set in the western world. I suppose it being a weapon-based fighter may also be a reason, seeing as it’s about the least popular fighter from a big publisher.

  • I thought Bandai Namco was localizing Ni No Kuni, not Level 5?

    • isfuturebright

Are they gonna localize Ni No Kuni DS ?

      • riceisnice

         Most likely not.

  • YES
But why isn’t the others trademarked?  Will this be separated from the collection on eshop or something?

    • kylehyde

I bet this is going to be separeted on the eshop, more considering that the trademarks are being managed on separate instead of only “guild 01”.

  • AJ

Thank you!  Finally, some good news regarding localization.  I haven’t been this excited since Ace Attorney Investigations 1.

  • $30632660

Crimson Shroud and Suda’s game were the only ones that interested me from Guild 01.

Guild 02 has nothing that interests me so I’m glad that wasn’t chosen instead.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Guild 02 has not even come out there lol. I believe Guild 02 will come if the game does indeed does well here.^_^

  • I could use more 3DS games.

  • Darkrise

    I could use a 3DS.

  • Soooo….Level 5, Where’s My Little Battlers?

  • I need this in my life with urgency! Mostly for Liberation Maiden.
Any word if it might have that Time Travelers demo?…

  • I don’t even have a 3DS and this has got me smiling.

  • Solomon_Kano

Nice. I really wanted to play Suda’s game, so this is great.

Hopefully it’ll do better here than it did in Japan. Really, it’ll probably have a better chance of that if they split it up as 4 eShop titles (as these individual trademarks may indicate) rather than selling it the same way. A collection of 4 disparate not-quite mini-games would probably be even tougher to sell here than it was in Japan, being that the only involved creator who’s name would get people’s attention is Suda and he’s not exactly a huge name himself.

    • It’s possible that these would be individual eShop games, but Level-5 also filed individual trademarks for all of the Guild01 titles and two Guild02 titles in Japan. They’re pretty protective overall!

      • Solomon_Kano

Ah. So it’s probably gonna be released the same way it was in Japan then. It would be interesting to see them released individually as well.

        • Too early to tell, but like you I would prefer individual downloads for each game.

  • ThatAzure

I didn’t see this coming, but I really glad to hear it. Liberation Maiden looked awesome :P that ass XD

  • brian yep

I thought Bamco was localizing Ni No Kuni.

    • Namco Bandai is publishing Ni no Kuni, but the localization is being done in Santa Monica by Level 5 International.

  • Ferofax

I wanna see how Vagrant Story’s creator’s game. That’s the extent of my interest in this compilation.

But it’s good that companies are taking a crack at it. Even if this ends up as being an eShop release over here, at LEAST it’s localized.

  • YYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS. One of my most anticipated 3DS games.

  • Göran Isacson

Ooh, neat. I was pretty interested in Sudas and Yasunos games… but now I feel mean because I wasn’t even thinking of the Airport game. Wonder if they will release these as individual games for download, or in a complete package as in Japan.
