The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Tops Amazon’s Best-Seller List

Excited for The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia? You aren’t alone, it would seem. Publishers Weekly (via: ANN) report that the book has jumped to the top of Amazon USA’s best-sellers list in the “Books” category, based on pre-orders. This is despite the fact that the book won’t be available until January 2013.

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia will be published by Dark Horse in North America. The book will contain an in-depth explanation of The Legend of Zelda’s timeline, concept art from each of the games, an overview of Hyrule’s evolution, and more features spanning the entire series.

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia will be released on January 29th, 2013 for $35, although Amazon have it priced at $21.

  • Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

Thanks for this ^^b pre-ordered £22 on amazon UK

  • I’m impressed at how quickly it rose in the ranks. I guess people REALLY wanted Hyrule Historia.

    • Alphabet Soup

I was surprised as well and trying to figure out how these figures were determined.  I just can’t believe it’s Best Sellers overall.  Don’t get me wrong – I’m happy at the thought of a Zelda book selling that well, but…

  • Paradox me

I can’t wait for this, and I already love it for the fact that its Amazon page brought to my attention The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy.

Can’t believe I didn’t hear about the latter until now.

    *Orders both.

    • Aoshi00

Yikes, $88!  Expensive for a US artbook, but it’s hard cover, and Amano! Ordered Hyrule too, $20 a bargain..

      • Paradox me

Three artbooks and a few other things, so not too bad. An absolute steal compared to the Japanese price, which was something like $600 from what I’ve read.

        • Aoshi00

The Jpn ver is 11,675 yen on Amz Jpn I think..

Big Amano fan too, pre-ordered for now..  buying one thing always leads to another :)…

Take that fifty shades of grey!

  • l777l

Well, a bunch of discriminating women shoppers probably were confused and thought it was a new Shades of Gray novel.

Please note someone beat you to this joke and didn’t need to add the extra commentary. Consider all our visitors before posting.

      • l777l

Do you mean the person who posted “Take that fifty shades of grey!” 3 minutes before my comment appeared?

        a) I didn’t see this comment; probably because I opened this page in a tab and didn’t comment right away.
        b) My joke addresses the alleged lack of discrimination that the supposedly female shoppers show in buying said books (I mispelled “Grey”, by the way). This person merely observed that the Zelda book currently outsells shades of grey (at least individual books of the series).
        c) I considered a number of potential visitors of this site, most definitely not all of them, due to a lack of knowledge. How terribly offensive was what I said on a scale of 1 to 10? I’m not asking for an estimate of how funny it was, it’s more about evil. As a sidenote, what kind of human behavior and events is it still appropriate to joke about or satirize? Is there anything left?
        d) Do you like Shades of Grey?

        • M’iau M’iaut

This is not a war against any sort of evil. It is asking our posters and contributors to understand we are a fractional part of Siliconera’s audience, one that is not just ‘all us nerds’. And to take that understanding into account when they think and write.

If all your ‘confused Shades of Gray’ shoppers come here, I wish for them to know this is a fun place. The ladies who read such stories IMO are far more likely to play a VN or JRPG than some bro shooter, and finding a way to increase our little niche should be a goal of all of us.

          • l777l

I very much welcome confused Shades of Grey shoppers. Also, I’m not a nerd. And this is a fun place (did you notice the joke I made?).

Got an email about this after it was announced from Amazon and preordered it right away. Glad I did, it was just over $25 then and now that the price has gone down I’ve got it preordered at the new price and still have free shipping :)

Take this as a sign, Nintendo. We REAAAALLLLYYY like it when you bring over things from Japan aside from certain games.

Wonder if they’ll do this kind of book for their other franchises.
