Ico PlayStation Vita Remote Play Coming Soon

By Ishaan . September 3, 2012 . 1:07am

Hey look, it’s Ico running on the PlayStation Vita!

…sort of. That photograph is from Sony Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida, who tweeted it a little while ago. Yoshida explains: “Sorry to tease you, I was play testing Ico HD Remote Play on PS Vita. We are almost ready with a patch. Beautiful on OLED. More info soon.”

“Remote play” is a feature that allows for select enabled PlayStation 3 titles to be streamed for play on the Vita (and the PSP in some cases). Judging by Yoshida’s tweet, Ico will be enabled for Remote Play soon. Hmm… I wonder if this means Shadow of the Colossus will get the same treatment…

    Oh ho ho~

The Vita just keeps getting better for me, personally.

  • badmoogle

I will be impressed if this runs smoothly.

  • Kefkiroth

Hopefully this runs smoothly and looks good. My ISP is alright (Comcast Xfinity) with good bandwidth, but streaming simple PS1 games still left slight input lag and more importantly terrible image quality even on +Max (forgot what the biggest setting was) settings.
I’d really love if more games were Remote Play enabled though.

Im glad vita is getting love, but cross play is much more interesting IMO.
meaning buy on ps3, get for free on vita.

That’s ‘Cross Buy’ not ‘Cross Play’. Cross Play is allows you to transfer save data from your PS3 to the Vita, and vice-versa.

Thanks, slight error on my part.

No problem. I make these mistakes sometimes.

  • manobon

I got super excited from the image that it would be ICO HD Collection on the Vita.

Do people often use Remote Play from different places/internet connections? Or is it for “someone else can use the television- I can still play”? I just feel like leaving a PS3 running while going anywhere is kind of an easy way to increase my electric bill.

    • neo_firenze

You can set remote play to turn the PS3 on remotely as well, and turn it off when you’re done.

      • manobon

That sounds pretty perfect! I just read that the internal fan would still be running (thereby, using electricity), if remote start is enabled, even after the PS3 is turned off/in standby mode.

        Is that true?

        • the9reen9uy

Yeah, its true. I tested the remote play with remote start for a couple days when I first got my vita.. Would always hear the fan running at night so I ended up turning off the feature =/

          • manobon

Darn…oh well. Thanks for the response & info though!

If they don’t bring SoTC as well it will be the biggest letdown ever…

    • Nemesis_Dawn

Personally, I think if you take away the size and scale of the colossi that comes from a good HDTV, it diminishes SOTC.

      • LustEnvy

Because the original was in HD? Come on now. The game will be epic in ANY form.

        • Nemesis_Dawn

No, it wasn’t in HD, but it was playable on a big screen.

          • LustEnvy

You missed the sacrcasm. I was replying to…

“Personally, I think if you take away the size and scale of the colossi that comes from a good HDTV, it diminishes SOTC.”

The original, as you stated was never in HD, so by saying that taking away the size and scale would diminish SOTC, is ridiculous. The game is epic no matter what the screen size.

      • http://www.guidingtech.com/ Alvaro Bernedo

I’ve played it on my HDTV many times already. While it might not be the same to watch the colossi on a small screen, I would really like to play this game in the OLED screen of the Vita. That offers a richness of colour that not even my HDTV can match (I don’t have a fancy one, just an average one). Also, I don’t have a surround system, so playing SotC on the Vita with headphones in the dark might make the game come alive for me again.

I wonder what’s up with the next new game, the last guardian was it?

    • XYZ_JolteonZ980

      Isnt it a 2013 title?

  • Neophoton

…I’d personally like to see PS2 classics playable on the go, like how one could play PSOne classics on PSP without the need of remote play.

  • the9reen9uy

This is great news, Vita is shaping up to be a great handheld console =)  Soon it will rule the world! Muahahaha…

Okay, probably not, but it’ll still be a great machine =)

  • Mazdian

Yay, don’t have to buy it again for Vita! Sure hope it runs smoothly though.

  • sherimae1324

ok how about a native ICO and SOTC game for the VITA…

    in HD too ^_^ tee-hee

    pleaaaaaaaassssssseeee SO…NY :3
