Monster Hunter Tri G is coming to both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in North America and Europe next year. Nintendo of America announced the game’s official U.S. title this morning—Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Details from Japan report that the Wii U version of the game will have online play. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will launch in the U.S. in March 2013. Both versions of the game will have cross-platform saves and multiplayer.

  • Lightthrower

Sooooo is it the same as MH3 on PS3? Or Tri HD?

    • Tri G (HD), not Portable 3rd.

  • ThatAzure

Sweet :D Can’t wait to pick this up xD; monster hunter is so much fun :P.

  • Yah, i already have Tri G for 3DS so now i can play again on Wii.  Can’t do crossplay but still awesome fun

  • Awesome news. The Wii-U is definitely picking up more and more of my attention right now. Cannot wait for the eventual announcement of the North American launch date.

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Nintendo just scored a pretty huge advantage against competition with this one; people have been dying to play MH3+ overseas. This’ll tide in a lot of people towards both 3DS and Wii U~.

  • kylehyde

I’m convinced of two things, one, I probably will be a Wii U user, but not in first day, but maybe before the end of the first year of the Wii U, and two Capcom is almost forgiven (at least from the 3DS perspective).

  • Preorder?  Please, take my money.

  • Captain_Jiruo

If it would have been Wiiu only It probably would have sold me a system but now I’ll probably get it for 3DS first and buy a Wiiu later.

Also since this is probably the NA monster hunter new Capcoms been teasing I guess the means I’m importing MHP3rd.

  • OatMatadoQuatro

Nintendo is taking down all the competition! Quick Sony, convince Square to release Vers—oh, it won’t work

    • baha

      made my day xD

  • Shadowman

  • badmoogle

Finally an HD MH with proper online! This will make it even more easier skipping MH4.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

With this, i hope this will shut all those gamer who keep saying that Capcom is not going to bring MH here.

They are not only bringing the game here for 3DS but also for Wii U which had HD where most western gamer would love to play one.^_^
The only thing the gamer need to do now is to actually buy the game to ensure that MH 4 to come here.^_^

  • Shiki

    a.. a~ .. A~~~~H FU!&$%@ A~~~~~H!!!!

I never thought my prayers and wishes would come true!!!

  • riceisnice

So the 3DS version will not have online play. Humm… What to do.

  • Raiyu

Wait, 3DS version still doesn’t have online?

  • the9reen9uy

Considering buying a Wii U just for this!

  • I’m Prolly gonna Double dip for this game xDDD

  • PreyMantis

Kinda a bit disappointed that the 3DS version won’t still have an online, but I guess I’ll be getting whichever comes out first.

  • Pythia Brixham

As much as I dislike Capcom, I am too much of a Monster Hunter fanboy to resist. I hope this does get an English localization and Capcom does not say: “LOLJK, not bringing this to states.”

    • Read the post more carefully. :P

  • Ferofax

Hold your horses people. It’s still for next year. Next year…

XL and MH3U. Gaddammit, I’ve never wished it to be next year so hard in my life…

  • SteveEdwards

  • I need. NEED NEED NEED.

  • Monster Hunter on Wii U! Time to do the happy as hell dance.

  • Spider-Man

Fuck YES! Somebody hold me and my wallet!

  • Interesting comment from Sven:

“For now, that’s what we’ve announced. Yes. And there are many thousands of people who are thrilled with the announcement of what is our our currently largest brand coming to Nintendo’s existing portable and new console platform.

The significance of that should not be underestimated.”

    • Should that be taken as a sign that Capcom will pay more attention to
Western releases in the future? (Although they have released a couple of titles in English already – even if just variants of Tri.)

      • I take it mean that Capcom are going to invest in the Wii U and 3DS further. Also unrelated to Sven’s comment, I think the announcement of this itself means that the same thing is likely going to happen with Monster Hunter 4.

        • zferolie

If that is the case then I would be happy. The only monster hunter I played was 3 on the Wii, and I loved it.

        • Including a WiiU port? Because I’d be interested how they’ll make use of the tablet.

    • “For now, that’s what we’ve announced.”

      For now!

  • Barrylocke89

Well this makes things interesting for me. I’m far more likely to get a  3DS than a Wii U…but the Wii U version seems to be the main version with online play. I hope Tri’s online fanbase sticks with it for a while longer, as I don’t have any fellow hunters around me locally.

Still, I suppose it’s just good to know that Monster Hunter is being supported at all.

  • zferolie

Ok, now THIS is great news. This sold me more on the Wii U now. Thank you Capcom for bringing over Monster Hunter again!

  • Onizuka Gio Hikari

-sniff- im so happy we are getting this Monster Hunter!!!!!

  • Shane Guidaboni

It’s about time Capcom! I’m happy about this.

  • I am buying both you better believe that!

  • Solomon_Kano

Told folks patience is a virtue. I mean, how fudging nice a payoff is this? We’re getting MH for 3DS AND consoles now. Capcom threw a bone to the fans waiting on the next portable title for the west and those who don’t like portables.

The question now becomes 3DS or Wii U? I’m tempted to do both just to show support for the series.

    • Let it be known to all that we don’t talk out of our asses around here. :P

      • Solomon_Kano

        Sure don’t lol.

    • Christopher Nunes

      Indeed! Excellent news!

PS: Love your new avatar picture! Zone of the Enders for the win! ^_^

      • Solomon_Kano

        Thanks man.

Tangent: it makes me happy that so many people recognize my avatar as being from ZOE. I always have to wonder if anybody really remembers the games since they didn’t do so hot, so it’s good to know it’s remembered. Hopefully that bodes well for the HD collection when it releases since it’d be great to see the series’ second chance pay off.

  • AokiShizuku

This has motivated me to try even harder in my exams. Thank you Siliconera.

  • Scratch what I said earlier, DEFINITELY Gonna Double dip for this Game.

In needs me some MonHun Goodness (and I’d like to get my Girlfriend into Hunting as well xP)

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Girlfriend Hunter sounds really cool lol even if it is quite funny here lol.^_^

  • KnightBlazer

Monster Hunter Tri “Ultimate” not Freedom Unite. What the diggy capcom. Still though I’m happy to see this.

    • That’s because Portable 3rd is “Monster Hunter Freedom 3”. That’s what they called it, back when there were plans to bring it over.

      • KnightBlazer

I totally forgot about portable 3rd.

  • ZEROthefirst

It’s just good manners to empty my wallet out for the WiiU and both versions of this game, but you could have spread the news out a bit Capcom, I don’t have enough clean pairs of pants for all of this in one day.

  • XypherCode

This is great news and I’ll just share my thoughts on this for those who’re wondering why a new platform and not existing like PS3/360…well just for the heck of it. :)

The Wii has already established a MonHun community with thousands of people still playing it. Assuming Nintendo thinks that most Wii owners, in one way or another will upgrade to Wii U, the transition of the community from Wii to Wii U would most likely be easy and still solid enough to maintain that same (or more) number of players. So it’s like they’re just continuing what was already established but on a newer, powerful system that can appeal to everyone. Another thing is that there is already a Monster Hunter community for 3DS and that’s an important factor on developing a MonHun game on the Wii U especially the cross-play functionality. But of course that currently applies only to Japan as 3G was already released months ago. But considering a strong fan base of Monster Hunter in the West, this is still a wonderful and practical approach.

In later years, I’m guessing Capcom will try a different approach for MonHun on the Vita. Protable 3rd is still going strong for PSP and down the pipeline I think Capcom will make use of that someday.

  • Go2hell66

this news makes me very happy!
