Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, known in Japan as Monster Hunter Tri G, will be released in March 2013 for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in North America and Europe.

Capcom revealed this morning that the Nintendo 3DS version will be limited to local four-player multiplayer, but that the Wii U version will have online play.

Both versions of the game will also have local cross-platform multiplayer between 3DS and Wii U. Additionally, you will also be able to use cross-platform saves, and pick up where you left off on either console.

  • Crossplat is genius for monster hunter!!! i can play and train while i am at school, in the car, etc, then i can take my character online and in HD at home…gosh, this is great.

  • Spider-Man

Simply delicious. I can’t contain myself.

  • shuyai

i wonder why Nintendo  can pull something awesome like this while sony stuck monsterless since psp. still hoping for vita mon hunt

I heard there was a dispute between Capcom And Sony concerning Monster Hunter. Of course, this meant they were open for the taking and Nintendo just had to swoop in. And Nintendo has definitely been giving them the gold-linen carpet to walk on.

      • Agree, I think Sony couldnt be more unlucky, they missed the chance to release the Vita with a Monster Hunter game with cross platform with the PS3 (and you can tell that was where they were heading, as shown with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for PSP and the HD version for PS3).

i hope they improve the gameplay mechanics, graphics and revamp a lot of thing, but since its based on MH3 its just an hd port so i guess we are still waiting for a proper sequel….

    •  Spoken like someone who has not played the 3DS one at all.  It’s got a lot of new content.  A LOT.

    • then you might want to staty tuned to Monster Hunter 4. That game is finally having some serious revamping. However this is not a port. Its a new game including content from the previous and totally new content. Its called Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for a reason. Just as there were was a vast difference between Monster Hunter Freeedom 2 and Monster Hunter Unite in psp.

  • Time to get a Wii U looks like

  • ddh819

will there be local multiplayer on Wii U (split screen)?

  • I am assuming that this is the “Big” monster hunter info that capcom usa has been teasing.

  • GOLD

I planed to get a wii u eventually but now ill get one as soon as this is avalible.

  • Draparde

This is wonderful, i already had plans to buy a Wii U, but wow.

  • Blesmi

Awww was hoping for added online on the 3ds ver for the US. Oh well, I’m so damn happy we’re at least getting it.

  • Solomon_Kano

Yea, I’m reeeally considering buying both versions. Round of applause for Capcom and PG for selling me a Wii U.

  • O_O Cross-platform gameplay and saves? Did you just say…

Hahaha XD Looks like my friends and I will enjoy a round of monster hunting in my house! Wow wow weee! XD I’ll use my 3DS while someone else will play on the Wii U. :D! Nice! So my bro can play the Wii U harnessing his character while I harness mine on the 3DS. Then, we can interchange from time to time. >:D Wicked!

  • Peter Le

This and the support for external hard drives has more than sold me on the Wii U. Also, the inclusion of a HDMI cable. Well done Nintendo. Will be buying a copy on each platform for sure.

  • Just Tim

Looks like I’ll get another crack on PvE MMO like MH3U. :3

  • puchinri

That is really awesome, and I’m extra excited and hyped.

    . . .Only thing. . . why are all of Capcom’s 3DS games looking like local multiplayer only? ;u;
