E.X. Troopers Mission Flow And How Hamburgers Can Power You Up

By Spencer . September 14, 2012 . 5:00pm

Lost Planet series producer Kenji Ohguro said they wanted to make a “party” game like shooter after Lost Planet 2. That’s how E.X. Troopers started and compared to Lost Planet 3′s struggle of a family man E.X. Troopers has a fun vibe.

The characters in E.X. Troopers make a crash landing and send a distress signal. All of that excitement must have made Bren (the dude with pink hair) hungry, right? If you stop by the cafeteria you can eat a meal that gives you a temporary status boost. The effect changes depending on what’s on the menu. Snow Pirates are waiting outside so you want to pick a weapon before leaving the base.

Oh no! Snow Pirates! Aren’t you glad you brought a gun? These pirates are prepared with a Vital Suit called Gran Seed that stands in your way.

Alright! You won. E.X. Troopers rewards players with experience points and materials you can use to remodel weapons. (Am I the only one thinking Monster Hunter in space?)

E.X. Troopers also has VR Missions to take on if you want to farm for materials.

You can also walk around the base and talk to other characters. Some girl wants a candid photo of Chris, Bren’s rival. If you fetch the photograph and give it to her you’ll get a Fan Club newsletter in return.

E.X. Troopers comes out on November 22 for PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS.

Ohh the eating system there is probably taken from Mon Hun there.^_^ Where we can take drinks or bath to increase our status before going to battle there.^_^

If hamburgers powered me up in real life, I’d be Level 99 and satisfied.

EX Troopers = MonHunt + Shounen Manga + IN SPAAAAACCEE /couldn’t resist it.

I’ll be importing it, but only after a price cut.

E.X. Troopers is probably one of my most anticipated 3DS titles as of yet. The only thing that really bugs me, though, is the lack of online multiplayer in the 3DS version. That aside, it’s a stylistic masterpiece! Going to pre-order soon! (◕‿◕✿)

YO~~! Been a damn long time since you last dropped in! Welcome back!

Which version are you gonna get? PS3 or 3DS?

      • aoihana

Hey, thanks! Yeah, I haven’t had a stable internet connection for quite a bit, so I hop online whenever I get the chance!

I’m actually going to grab the 3DS version first. I’ve been dying to play it since that Nintendo Direct months ago, so I can’t wait! I’ll probably get the PS3 version for the online some time later, though! Are you planning on picking it up, too? (◕‿◕✿)

Last time I checked, you didn’t have a 3DS. How’s that coming along?

        • http://wiredjungle.wordpress.com/ DrakosAmatras

Still don’t have a 3DS. I’m barely managing my hobby budget, between Tekken Tag Tournament 2 CE and Guild Wars 2. I’ll be getting the PS3 version, but only after price cuts, so I’m not in a rush.

          • aoihana

I’ll be getting the PS3 version probably next year. I’m actually thinking of picking up a Vita at the end of next month, so I probably wont get the PS3 version until a price cut, too.

By the way, Ishaan mentioned you were interested in an import 3DS. I know you may not be getting one soon, but I recommend you check out http://www.clubjapan.jp/exec/_advance/jenre/j1/1/j2/4.html

They ship overseas(have frequent shipping discounts, too), and sell them at Japanese retail(15,000円). They’re out of stock at the moment, but it’s worth looking into at some point, I think!  (◕‿◕✿)

Much obliged! I’ll bookmark it for the time being.

I know! You just voiced my thoughts quite perfectly. >u<
      Guh, can't wait to pre-order! But not happy with local only multiplayer. ;u;
Maybe our version will have full multiplayer…?

  • Kris

Maaaan, I haven’t imported a PS3 game in a while, but I’m more tempted the more I see of this. XD

How can games like Catherine and Corpse Party be translated, and not this?!?…

    • Solomon_Kano

      Simple. Different publishers, different priorities.

  • rinalicat

Hm…I wonder what food does what…like do hamburgers boost strength? Aaaaah, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! I’m going to wait a bit before I import this title :3

  • puchinri

Maybe I’ll get the JP version for PS3 and hope a 3DS version comes out here~. The game is sounding more and more fun, I’m so stoked. >u<

Also like how the menu kind of reminds me of Persona.
