More Wii U Games Coming From Capcom

By Ishaan . September 17, 2012 . 11:00am

The only game that Capcom have announced for the Wii U thus far is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but more are on the way, says Capcom USA’s senior vice-president, Christian Svensson.

In reply to a member of the Capcom forums who asked about Wii U support aside from Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Svensson stated: “For now, that’s what we’ve announced. Yes.”

He continued: “And there are many thousands of people who are thrilled with the announcement of what is our currently largest brand coming to Nintendo’s existing portable and new console platform. The significance of that should not be underestimated.”

In another thread, Svensson replied to a similar query, this time confirming that other Wii U projects are indeed in the works.

“I have to be careful what I say here as it will surely be overanalyzed and misinterpreted to be more than what I’m saying,” Svensson warned.

He then confirmed: “We have other projects in the works beyond MH3 Ultimate. Unfortunately at this time I can not provide any details. I’m sure as someone who is interested in Wii U and a member, you won’t be able to miss news of future projects when they finally do get announced.”

    • venomryu

awesome i would love a hd collection of onimusha i never played one or two and three i never beat so i am up for a new onimusha if they can do it

      • nirvana123

O there all amazing with 3 being my favorite. Im actually surprised an hd or anything hasn’t been announced.

    • I don’t think Capcom will announce any Wii U projects at TGS, no.

      • nirvana123

Ok thank your for the reply.

    • Just Tim

The perpetual issue with Onimusha is the fact Capcom has to pay royalties to Takeshi Kaneshiro, who was the basis for Onimusha Samanosuke; in addition to that, Jean Reno needs to get paid, as he was the basis for Jacques Blanc.

Also, isn’t Capcom busier with Sengoku Basara, their current/more active Sengoku-era-based video game?  ?_?

Keep in mind Onimusha drew off from the Sengoku era.

All I need from Capcom is a new Megaman.

    • Just Tim

If it’s the Classic saga, I can see Roll, being a carrier of the Robofluenza virus.

If it’s the X Saga, Inafune already ragequit because of Executive Meddling from the suits, especially when his original plan was to end it in X5.

If it’s the Legends Saga, they’ll need to bring back Trigger, who’s stuck on the moon.

If it’s the ZX Saga, it should be a build-up to Legends, especially when one of the Triumvirate is implied to have laid the groundwork for Legends (read: cybernetic implants on humans, artificial shelf life for robots).

No, just no… honestly ZX should not be tied to Legends directly, if at all. They already have the ground work for something else, I would rather that they build on that than drag ZX into the same abyss that Legends is in.

        • Just Tim

Uh, you intentionally left out the part, “read: cybernetic implants on humans, artificial shelf life for robots”, even though the robot part meant Reploids.

Besides, it makes sense, especially when Trigger has been revealed to be carrying/protecting human DNA.

          • ForteWily

No, I get the connection… but anything that would directly tie Legends into the time-line would not really end well. And it bucks a pattern between the original timeline of having a loose connection (there has been little to no explication for what happens between the original series to X, anything father back from the Elfwars in Zero is something of a black hole, and nothing really happened from the transition from Zero to ZX)
But I will admit that I am very bias about that, not a fan of Legends. I don’t hate is but I don’t care for it. I would rather have another Megaman game that keeps as far away from it as possible.

Something tells me the Wii U will eventually get RE6, probably as an enhanced version with some DLC included.

    • RE6, DmC and Remember Me are probably a lock, IMO. All three of those will likely be brought to Wii U after their PS3/360 releases. In the case of RE6 and DmC, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them announced alongside their PC versions.

      • DemonKingAsura

I would like to see an Asura’s Wrath Wii-u edition, personally (Espeically if they decide to have CC2 do what they do best, Do it for the art).

  • Shadowman

Is there any Mega-man game coming for the WiiU?

    • Godmars

Better to ask if there’s 2D games coming to it.

There needs to be more 2D or 2.5D games. Titles with sprite animation.

  • Göran Isacson

Is Monster Hunter their largest brand? For some reason I’d think that would be Resident Evil right now, am I maybe just misinterpreting his statement here?

    • KHSoraKeyBlade

I would have thought Street Fighter would be their biggest brand. That’s just me though..

      • Göran Isacson

It’s definitely one of the most well-known, but going just from what I can recall from the sales-numbers, I think that Resident Evil is the one that’s netting them the most money.

    • Their biggest brand in Japan is Monster Hunter. Worldwide, it might be Resident Evil, but in terms of how much actual revenue/return-on-investment they receive, it could very well be MH, since the games likely cost less to develop.

I assume Sven was also talking strictly about games, because there’s obviously things like the movies, novels etc. in the case of RE.

      • Göran Isacson

Ah, I had a feeling that could be the case. While I’m not exactly keeping my ear to the ground as far as MonHun is concerned I know it’s been a huge thing for Capcom in Japan, so seen from that perspective it’s fair to call it the biggest brand.

        • Well, it’s sort of recognized as the brand that single-handedly saved the PSP from an untimely death, so that certainly helps that perception!

  • Obviously, they should bring over digital versions of the HD-quality Phoenix Wright games.

Come on, we all know we want those.

  • Learii

is this the same as MH tri?

    • Herok♞

Nope its a version with alot more content.

    • Showmeyomoves

Tri G, actually. (The difference is about 35+ monsters.)

      • …is about 35+ monsters which turn you to pieces cause of G-rang!

  • eilegz

resident evil 6 should come, so others like dmc and lost planet 3 could also enter if its new games….

They could easily port existing game also….

  • Andrew Knights

    • MrRobbyM

      omg YES PLEASE.

    • Neophoton

Full on yes for this, please!

  • Ace Attorney 1,2,3 HD ver. for the eShop would be awesome. That way I could play it on the Gamepad anywhere in the house. Physical copies of the second AA game are expensive.

  • pressstart

Since I don’t have a 360/PS3, how about another release of UMVC3? XD
Liking that Namco is sharing the love with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Yes, I’m aware that the release window are right next to each other, so it makes more sense than UMVC3).

  • Boo

I would like to see Megaman Legends 3 on the wiiu and Okami HD for the eshop

  • konsama
