The World Ends With You LIVE Event Has Auditions For A Future Game

By Ishaan . September 18, 2012 . 9:30am

This morning, Square Enix announced that, on November 26th, they will be holding a live concert based on the game at the Shibuya O-West concert hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. Composer, Takeharu Ishimoto, who made the announcement, has confirmed he will be present. Further details will be announced at a later date.

This live event will also have another purpose: it will serve as the third stage of an ongoing audition for a vocalist, who will be given the opportunity to participate in a future Square Enix game that Ishimoto is involved in.

Stage 1 involved recording a cover for a song from The World Ends With You . Stage 2 involves a video performance, with the video being published on the net, and viewers being allowed to comment on it. The third and final screening will take place at the live event.

Additionally, Square Enix have also announced a release date for the upcoming The World Ends With You -Crossover- soundtrack album. It will be released on October 10th in Japan for 1,890 yen.

These events are part of an ongoing push for The World Ends With You by Square. It began when characters from the series made guest appearances in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for the Nintendo 3DS, with creator, Tetsuya Nomura, indicating that Square were thinking of the series’ future.

Then, late last month, Square Enix ported The World Ends With You to iOS platforms as The World Ends With You: Solo Remix. This version of the game included a teaser at the very end that hinted at what was possibly a new project.

Shortly after the release of Solo Remix, the original game’s director, Tatsuya Kando, shared that he is working on other projects related to the series as well.

Update: Audition details added.

They seem to want to build up hype for something. With the port and the concert (and the teaser) I have the feeling that something is coming…but I can’t be excited about it thanks to huge let down a couple weeks ago.

  • Don’t talk about that game right now. Still mad…

    • Luna Kazemaru

       Still mad over nothing?

  • Xapth

You know, they wouldn’t build up all this hype for nothing…

Oh god it’s coming, a sequel, I know it, it’s coming! IT’S CALLING!

  • Enma_Kozato

They’re also holding some kind of audition. Participants have to sing a song from the game’s soundtrack, so I assume it has something to do with the concert.

  • Alexandra Cordes

Oh man, I wish I could go to that!

  • wish i could watch ;_;, but my wallet is trying to kill be because its hungry

    Neku:Future…Game? ….:}

  • Getting people to participate in this kind of thing is pretty cool. Builds hype and makes some lucky guy happy.

  • Dianatos

Since the Guilty Gear X BlazBlue LIVE and several Persona Music Lives, I was just thinking they should do this for TWEWY! Weird…

  • Inb4 fans raise their expectations as high as can be, only to be disappointed when this fails to become what they expected and blame SE for doing their job.

I’ll quietly wait and see what comes out of this. I hope it’s TWEWY 2, but I’m ready for anything, so, let’s go.

… I saw the word “Composer” and now I am imagining this Takeharu Ishimoto showing up dressed like Joshua. It is a mildly terrifying thought.

  • natchu96

They are holding a concert at the place where 777 got erased? Nice.

    • Wait, WHT!? (At week 1 day 5 as of this writing)

      • LazuliteLiamz

I stop scrolling down after I read your comment, I haven’t finished the game as well, don’t wanna accidentally read any spoilers xD

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

    …ITS CALLINGGG!!!^_^

  • LazuliteLiamz

I’m grateful that I decided to get this game for my iPad, it is awesome! Although the battle controls could get frustrating sometimes. I don’t have the NDS version and never played it on my NDS before, but I assume, since NDS have buttons, the controls are better.

Anyway, if you had never played this before, go get it! Its pricey, yes, but its totally worth it!

    • Well…. in the NDS ver the charac are split into two screen so you can choose to control Neku or your partner. I believe the partner is controlled by mashing the buttons IIRC.

  • after the iOS troll announcements i don’t wanna hear anything about it anymore, they trained me to lower the hopes beyod abyss
