Shin Megami Tensei IV Uncut Trailer Coming This Week

By Ishaan . October 1, 2012 . 9:00am

Remember how Atlus said they would show an uncut version of the last Shin Megami Tensei IV trailer at the Tokyo Game Show? You won’t have long to wait until you can watch it yourself.

Atlus updated the game’s teaser website this week, mentioning that the uncut trailer will be available for viewing on October 5th, to coincide with the “grand opening” of the full website for Shin Megami Tensei IV.

Shin Megami Tensei IV will be released in 2013. While you wait for the new trailer, you can check out an English-subtitled version of the second trailer here.

    Uncut?

Was it too violent to show at TGS2012?

On the contrary, the trailer that was shown at TGS was the uncut version, we got to see a special edited version before the game’s official showing. I’m guessing the whole “cut/uncut” here doesn’t mean the game is more violent or less violent, I’m guessing the TGS trailer simply features more stuff we didn’t get to see in the publicly released trailer.

This is exciting news, I’m just curious though as to what was cut from the TGS trailer…

Was it too long? Too violent? I’m honestly lost as to why they’d need to release an uncut trailer. However, to look on the positives, new footage for SMT:IV is new footage!

About goddamn time, I got bored re-watching the beta trailer everyday for the last two weeks. Hopefully, this one will show more of Steven and the battle system.

I expect an even deeper, full blown reveal in this uncut trailer. Which is awesome. I’m super ready for this :D

I liked 90% of what I saw in the first real trailer. . . which is to say I didn’t like what I saw of the combat. . . which is to say sinc battling is 90% of what you do in an RPG. . .

    hmm. . . math hurts

Just give me an announce date so I know when to start blocking out all contact with people.

I’m still kind of disappointed about the battle system…
    Atlus, Y U NO 3D???

    • keithmaxx

Battles’d turn out to be more Pokemon-ish or FF-ish if they did, I guess.

    • LightZero

The 2D battle means more enemies on screen an probably fast paced battles. If you weren’t spoiled by the 3D titles or at the very least played SJ, Devil Survivor, or Soul Hackers this shouldn’t even be an issue.

      • Paradox me

What if he did play some of those titles and just preferred Nocturne’s 3D battle system?

That’s the position I find myself in. I’m grateful that it’s at least 3D field exploration, but first-person/sprite-based combat is a bit disappointing.
