Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Screenshots Show Off The Wii U Version

By Ishaan . October 3, 2012 . 10:45pm

Capcom have shared the first screenshots for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U, via the game’s official website in Japan.

As reported last night, the Wii U version of the game will run at a resolution of 1080p, and that the Wii U GamePad will allow you to use its touch screen for item selection and other functions like you would the bottom screen on the Nintendo 3DS version.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be released in Japan on December 8th. North America and Europe will get the game on both 3DS and Wii U in March 2013.

Daaaaaaaaaaaayum, impressive. Better looking than Portable 3rd HD’s.

  • Mayjay

    It looks…beautiful.

Wii U’s GPU is supposed to be two PC-generations newer than PS360′s.

    Stuff like this should be running at 1080p 60fps WITH 4xMSAA or equivalent/better post-process anti-aliasing and 16xAF.

PS3 launched in 2006 with Ridge Racer 7 at 1080p 60fps. Namco’s far more technically challenged than Capcom.

Okami HD appears to be 1080p with 4xMSAA too.

  • Lance Buxley

I should add, Hexadrive is remastering Okami HD, which might explain its competency.

Eighting were involved with Tri G on 3DS. I don’t know to what extent they worked on it, but they were part of that game’s development in some capacity. They could be working on this version, too.

  • Curan_Altea

Not bad. Certainly better then simple upscaling, and considering it’s an HD version of a 3DS game the graphics are certainly good enough. Too bad I’ll have to buy the 3DS and Wii U versions for online play, and gaming on the go.

  • Go2hell66

    Actually looks pretty good

  • konsama

That looks just perfect, i think the MH graphic whiners will be satisfied now. Can’t wait to get my hands on this.

As much I wish they’d shut up, whiners just won’t shut up….

Its not really the Wii U’s fault for the mediocre graphics.  The blame is solely on Capcom for refusing to create new assets and just upscaling everything.  They’ve been recycling assets since the PS2 days.  People have been getting the same game for almost a decade now and just don’t realize it or enjoy the series too much to care (see: Pokemon).

I guess the one positive thing I can say is that we’ve never really gotten a “bad” one. . . so far lol

And I really don’t think I can hold it against Capcom, since they’ve been doing this FOREVER. And Nintendo plays it safe with their own series, especially Pokemon.

If anything, I’m just glad shooters are somewhat dying down now, with only COD really milking the same nonsense.

But if you change things, people hate it.

      (Sonic and Resident Evil)

      • Areuto

Isn’t that why they made sonic generations?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This does looks really nice even though Capcom mainly just recycle all the old assets here.^_^

Here, hoping for MH 4 which “i hope” will also be released for Wii U and this time come out with a new graphics assets.^_^

  • Showmeyomoves

Yes, very strange that a 3DS game looks about as good as a Vita game…

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tianyu-Wei/100000304118353 Tianyu Wei

       this is Wii U screenshot… not 3DS screen…

      • SantiagodelosSantos

The wiiu version is a port of the 3ds version so it does look a lot like it

      • Tom_Phoenix

That may be so, but it’s still a port of a 3DS game.

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Which was a port of a PSP game which was a port of a Wii game. The PSP game looks as good as a 3DS game? What~?

          • Tom_Phoenix

I’m not sure what you’re point is here. All I was trying to say is that, even if it is a screenshot from the Wii U version, it’s still the same game as the 3DS one, just upscaled to work with a higher resolution.

Also, Tri was never ported to the PSP.

          • Peace Legacy

no it is not a port of PSP game, the PSP game use different and inferior assets comparing the Wii game, and the 3DS use the asset port from the wii, not PSP

  • zeta

but does the game plays better than MH?

  • Draparde

I love how this looks…and i can’t wait to be playing on my TV while my friends use their 3DSes~

  • XypherCode

I’m still satisfied with this. It’s MonHun on a home console so what’s not to like? Even if they’re actually using assets from the Wii or 3DS game, the fact the you can play MonHun on your TV is still a very good experience. :)

  • MrRobbyM

March release date is perfect! Just in time for a birthday present :D I probably won’t own a Wii U by then but…at least I won’t have to buy the game.

  • http://www.twitch.tv/jpnags Jason Naglic

I’m looking forward to PSO2 on vita more so. I own one, but not too crazy about the art direction of ragnarok.

  • Pythia Brixham

So… Much… Want… But not enough money for this AND a Wii U.
