By Spencer . October 15, 2012 . 2:35am

Ciel no Surge should have been sold with a season pass option because Gust is on its fourth round of downloadable content. The World Pack volume 4 – Trial Chapter Closing act is set in Neptron Tower from the Tz Tube company is 90% complete and could upset the Colon company’s power.

    Her blushing is adorable!

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Blushing is epitome of cuteness. Check Nisekoi there lol. Any blushing scene makes your moe sense tingling lol.^_^

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Hah, totally forgot about this game.

    • MrTyrant

I probably want to forget about this game and don’t remember anything at all.

i’m very curious as to how this tower functions and what it’s for, since it’s not like the towers of ar tonelico although in a way (not a lot) it does resemble their trends.

    • aquagon

As far as I know, it’s related to a device called the CielNoTron, which is one of the two possible ways of using Song Magic in that world, the other one being having a pact with a Genome.

  • Since there are more episodes coming out, I wonder if they will think about localizing Ciel no Surge. I really hope so =^_^=

    • All signs point to no.  The problem apparently is that all of the typical import houses for Gust and KT, NIS in particular, have burned hard on Visual Novel format games in the past.

And while it’s true that the Surge Concerto is a bit more than a Visual Novel, genre-wise that is the best way to describe it.

As a result, chances of localization for this title are pretty much nil.  It won’t happen unless a studio specifically gets a Visual Novel itch going on, and even then they’ll probably go for a more traditional Visual Novel game most likely.

Quite a shame, Ion is cute and the story is actually pretty good.

It is also likely that because of continuing content releases (chapters to the story) are still being release, the potential for a NA release is likely not to even be a consideration. NISA loves to release the products the license with all that they can offer right up front. With what you mentioned APCP_Faller and the fact that more of the product is still being released, it likely is not in NISA’s best interest to release a game of this nature to the NA until an audience and a complete product are present.

So, how is the story? Any key parts on Ion’s past and your relationship with her?

        • There are hints, bits and pieces.  Neriko knows something but she won’t let on either, and there’s this weird thing with the memories that you help restore for Ion in that some of them don’t involve her in anyway (what are you really ‘recovering’ when you dive..)

I’ve been doing some Artonelico research and a lot of the Japanese theory crafters have some solid ideas (though I can’t read well enough to follow them all the way), but there strongest one I’ve seen is the suggestion that Ion (and Kanon) somehow similar to the Reyvateils in the Sol Ciel world/dimension (Ion’s memories take place in the same dimension but in a totally different place/world separated by time/space).

I think the story is pretty good.  It was a slow start and hard to see the overall gameplan during the first two months (Chapter one was not very informative and the game bugs were hard) but I’m really liking how the periodic content is playing out.

I am hoping that they get some of the later Chapters out a little faster though, not sure if I’m going to be able to wait a year and a half for the story to finish.

But unfortunately I think this is one that English only folks will end up needing to miss out on.  I have hopes that Gust will consider a more traditional game set in the La Ciel world though.  A Song Magic world imperiled by it’s Sun becoming a red giant and those struggling to save it would make for some epic RPG action.

Just a couple of corrections: Ar tonelico’s world was Ar Ciel, and it has been indeed confirmed that both ra-ciel-a and Ar Ciel both form part of the universe created by EXA_PICO, so the thing is that both of them take place in the same universe but in entirely different planets and galaxies.

And agreed that it’s quite sad that the prospects for a localization are pretty much zero…

          • Christopher Nunes

I see, that’s interesting. I never really played any of the Artonelico games, but this one intrigues me the most so I was hoping for this game to come out.

The memory parts are quite mysterious, is there a larger puzzle to be seen that involves more than Ion and you? The story sounds great, I wish we knew the whole thing already!

How many chapters has been released so far and how many left now? How often do they release a new chapter? Kinda sucks they’re taking their time to release them, but I guess they want the players to continue playing their game but there’s other games out there that they will be willingly to play after a while.

Do you think we’ll see any fan-translation of the game? Even if it doesn’t get localized, I like to know the story. They don’t have to hack the game or anything to convert, just a document with the entire memories and story translated into English. I might as well import it if that’s the case with no localization.

  • I’ve been waiting for this one to come out before I finish up Chapter 3.  I did Chapter 2 shortly after it came out and the wait for 3 was rough.  Time to finish the story of Ion’s dance lessons (and the first hints as to how she lost her memory).

Can’t wait for the costumes, though I’m most excited for the twin-tails hairstyle option!  Just wish she’d keep the customer hair choice longer than she does.  It’s also nice to see that Tabou is back!  Hope that Casti makes an appearance too.

Just downloaded patch 1.09 and they finally made it so that Ion will move around the terminal based on what’s she’s doing. I finally get to sit at the table with her while she eats. Curious what she’ll do with it when it’s bath/room time.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Sad that, this game had almost 0 chance for coming.T_T As this game kinda uses Love Plus formula except this one actually had stories.

Hope that after all the episode is released, they will consider bundling all the episode and localize the game.

    • Christopher Nunes

Agree, I want to get this game in English. It looks so good. T_T

  • So…no chance of anyone localizing this? It looks pretty cool.
