Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut To Have Updated Controls, DLC, And More [Update]

By Ishaan . October 16, 2012 . 8:30am

Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut is on its way to the PlayStation 3, and Rising Star Games will be publishing the updated version of the game in both North America and Europe, a PlayStation blog post by product manager, Yen Hau, reveals.

Hau’s post also gives us an idea of what to expect in the updated PlayStation 3 game. As some of you may already be aware, Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut will feature additional story content in the form of a brand new story scenario by creator, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro.

In addition to this, there will also be downloadable content to keep the story going after you’ve completed the game, updated graphics, and the Director’s Cut version will also have an updated control system.

As previously detailed, Suehiro is working with Harvest Moon creator, Yasuhiro Wada, on Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut. Wada was the original game’s executive producer back when he worked at Marvelous. He now runs his own company, Toybox, and is working on Project Happiness for the Nintendo 3DS.

Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut will be released in Q1 2013 in both North America and Europe.

    • Tales_of_Master

       Zach is that you ?

  • DiosFancifulRomp

Wow, I was almost ready to tweet to Swery to see if this had reached problems or something. Weren’t we supposed to hear about this at E3 like, a year or two ago? Doesn’t matter, can’t wait to finally get to play this gem of a game.

  • Tales_of_Master

FINALLY. I was waiting forever for this game. Hopefully we will get it quickly here in the U.S

  • GibbRS

Can’t wait for this game.  I absolutely loved the original version, and new story content will be awesome.

  • Yaacov Verch

Great news!!! been waiting for this one for some time now. very recommended to any twin peaks fan.

  • Oooh, thank you, Rising Star Games! It might have taken three years but here’s one PS3 owner who will very much appreciate the gesture! The buzz surrounding this game has always been most intriguing (“so bad that it’s actually brilliant” or something along those lines) and it sounds like a perfect, bizarre blend of… Actually, I still don’t know quite what to expect, yet I’m stoked to find out!

  • Yes! I was wondering what was going on with the game, because there haven’t been any news for it in a while. Can’t wait.

  • A day one purchase ;)

I’ve got one question: is that downloadable content something new, or was it made when it was released in 360 and now it’s included in the ps3 disc too?

    • SeventhEvening

There is currently no DLC for the 360 version.

         Thanks for replying!

It’s like I always said, Zach.  Deadly Premonition really deserved a more polished version.  Of course an auteur like Swery has ideas on how to improve his vision.  Now, that combat, Zach.  That’s something that could use some editing, if you know what I mean.  “Less is more” is what I say. If they fixed that up, Zach, it would be like the perfect turkey sandwich.  They already had some damn fine turkey, but if they just used slightly better bread, so it doesn’t get the slightest bit soggy from the moist, delicious meat and whatever condiments you use… ahhhh, you can just taste the perfection now, can’t you Zach?

It reminds me of a great remake of a horror movie I once watched in the 80s…

At this snail’s pace I wonder how long it will take to get a spiritual sequel or new project from the same team.

been meaning to play this game for a while, thank goodness there’s an updated version on the way :D

  • I hear this is one of the best of the “cult” titles on 360, I really wanna play this so it is nice a late PS3 version exists.

  • Oh my god yes.

I’ve been holding out on this game for awhile.

  • So much to look forward to in 2013 already.

  • Göran Isacson

Deadly Premonition for the PS3. This makes me so inordinately happy, you guys. I have managed to keep myself from being spoiled on… MOST of the stuff, holding on to hope that I would one day have this game on the console I own. Now it’s a dream no more. I just hope that the polish doesn’t make the game LESS intriguing…

  • amagidyne

That game you like is going to come back in style.

  • Budgiecat

I bought a used 360 last year to play this game in English…I stopped playing once I heard news of an udpated PS3 version -_-

  • Roberto Armando Iraheta

This game is amazing. This is just a great excuse to play Twin Peaks: The Video Game again.

    Mr. Ishaan

My surprise and excitement at seeing this news
Ensured I paused my activity to give it more views.
My game at a halt so that I may marvel at this sight,
If I don’t get my hands on this game, there will be a fight.

My excitement I contain only thanks to this rhyming joke,
Otherwise I’d be screaming in glee to the nearest bloke.
Simply tell me when this will be released
And on Day 1, I shall be much pleased.

DLC and extra content to me is just fine,
This sort of stuff doesn’t feel like it crosses the line.
Anticipation which has been building from way back
Shall finally find conclusion in 2013, right Zach?

    So says Mr. Stewart.

  • SirRichard

2013’s off to a fantastic start so far, definitely going to pick this up again. This is the sort of game that really needs to be encouraged.

Well, in the writing and story departments, anyway!

  • Zonic505

    F….K…..On the PS3!

    • Testsubject909

Zach, do you see this? Someone’s wasting perfectly good coffee by pouring it on their PS3. Crazy isn’t it?

  • Luis Camargo

And so my coffee predicts the future and says: B.A.

As in Buy Again. Played already Red Seeds Profile (the JP version of the game) and LOVED IT. More Deadly Premonition is always a reason to celebrate.

    Right, Zach ?

  • Bentan

    fack in my coffee!

  • XiaomuArisu

I just realized…no one is whistling yet!
    Whistle with me!

  • Scallion

Did you hear that, Zach?? This is going to be incredible!
