Sega’s New RPG Turns You Into A Demon So You Can Fight Demons

By Spencer . October 18, 2012 . 11:40pm

Demon Tribe is a game where you fight demons and transform into ones. While this sounds like it’s from Atlus, it’s actually from Sega Networks. Masayoshi Kikuchi from the Yakuza team is the chief producer. Ryuta Ueda who worked on Yakuza and Panzer Dragoon is the art director. Jet Set Radio producer Riichiro Yamada is the director.

Demon Tribe has a battle part (left) and a training part (right) where you’re in a base. The game has a single player mode and also supports 3-on-3 battles.

  • Hmm… The colorings and character designs look distinct, but I’m not sure I can consider the drawings themselves impressive. The red hoodie girl in particular has rather untidily-drawn hands and legs.

So this is their take on SMT/ Persona I guess?  I’ve always wondered why we haven’t seen more clones in that niche.  I’ve fallen out of a short-lived loved with iOS (which is essentially the most disorganized, micro-transaction Hell I’ve ever seen pass as a game medium), so I’d prefer this on a console or hand-held.  Maybe it will get the Kingdom Conquest treatment.

While i am not really impressed with the character arts there, the demon arts actually gives the old “Nightmare” feeling from SC there and it is a nice thing.^_^

The gameplay also looks really nice there. The battle time looks very fast and also the training period is also another nice add on there.^_^

Thanks for softening the “only on iOS” blow by putting it at the very end.

  • The girl on the left bottom has a hair cut VERY similar to Lady from Devil May Cry. I wish games would stop being IOS exclusive. Not everyone has or wants one.

  • This is VERY much like SMT. Except SMT is on actual systems. And I know this will cause people to flame me, but iOS really isn’t a real system.

This reminds me of digital devil saga… And that pulsating eye reminded me so much of digital devil sagas trailer

    • Love the games and that trailer. That song brings back good memories of when I first started playing the DDS series =^_^=

Person on the internet: “This game looks cool and I am interested in it!”

/reads for 30 seconds until they see it’s for iOS.

Same person: “I wasn’t *REALLY* interested in that game, I’m not interested in any iOS games!”

    Me: rolls eyes at ignorance

  • Red Veron

Is this gonna be like one of those GREE games where you tap the screen to win?

  • Göran Isacson

As neat as the effects of several “screens” in ring formation looked like, it also made it darn near impossible for me to see just what the heck was going on. I’m always up for transforming into a monstruous demon, but I could hardly see how the heck you PLAYED this darn thing.

I would love a soundtrack for this game
