Assassin’s Creed III On PS3 Has Exclusive Benedict Arnold Missions

By Ishaan . October 23, 2012 . 10:00am

Assassin’s Creed III on the PlayStation 3 is getting four exclusive missions featuring Benedict Arnold, the American Revolutionary War general who defected to the British Army. Under Washington’s command, Connor will work undercover for Benedict Arnold and help expose him. Here’s a trailer for the exclusive missions:

Ubisoft say that, despite Benedict Arnold’s reputation as a traitor, they don’t like the idea of “bad guys” in Assassin’s Creed, and that, from a certain point of view, Arnold’s reasons for his betrayal make sense.

    That looks so awesome…good thing I have a ps3.
The rest of you have to….enjoy the game without Arnold.

They don’t like bad guys in Assassin’s Creed, which is why Cesare Borgia was clearly such a conflicted man.

Joking aside, I hope these are more substantial than the exclusive Copernicus missions in Brotherhood. He appeared in two cutscenes and had a grand total of five short missions before vanishing entirely with nary a real reward for helping him. Still, it’s nice.

Cesare was crazy and paranoid also incest… Rodrigo was a really good “bad guy” without seeming bad to the world arround him other than Ezio and the assassin’s

Dang, that’s a pretty important exclusive DLC… I pre-ordered the 360 ver from Amazon w/ the steebook case alrdy.. I hope it’s not permanently exclusive like Joker on Arkham Asylum..

I love playing games w/ historical characters like Shadow Hearts’ alternate history, like Washington being a king here :)..  we always hear about Benedict Arnold so much, I would like to get my hands on that traitor :)

Oh, but it doesn’t just end there.  Judging from sony rep. comments on the blog annoucement, there will be a bunch of AC3:Lib/ACIII cross content by linking the two games:

“+ Sid Shuman on October 23rd, 2012 at 10:46 am said: You’ll unlock an extended ammo pouch and Connor’s tomahawk for Aveline in ACIII. There will be more info on that topic coming soon, too.”

Not to mention there might be an exclusive NY mission for Conner through these means.

I just pre-ordered for the 360 this afternoon and finding all this out now is pretty discouraging.  Why do this?  I feel like I’m missing out on a significant portion of the game simply because I choose to play on the 360.  (I can be pretty OCD sometimes and I just can’t bring myself to break my AC on the 360 streak. I know it sounds dumb).

Nah, I totally feel the same.  I have all AC, AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelation on the 360, so it was natural for me to pre-order AC3 on the same system as well..  First I found out the Liberation cross contents (I’m getting the Vita game as well) and now exclusive Benedict Arnold DLC.. I’m not sure how much more exclusive contents to PS3 I’m gonna miss :(…  and these things sometimes stay exclusive forever like the Arkham Asylum Joker DLC..

Not breaking the streak is one thing, but in general I get all multiplatforms on 360 because I prefer its controller.. also it’s probably hard to get the steelbook if I switch pre-order now.. for gameplay-wise though I’m still stick ing to 360 ver.. it is a pity I would miss out on these if they don’t make it available as DLCs later on XBL…

To be honest, if the content is going to be like the “bonus” content they’ve done since the second game, I don’t think much is going to be missed.
