PlayStation Vita Monster Catching Game Goes From Paid To Free

By Spencer . November 13, 2012 . 1:12am

Monster Radar was one of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s PlayStation Vita launch titles. It’s an augmented reality game where you catch invisible monsters that you can only see with your Vita. After you catch a monster like a living hamburger… you imprison it in a lab and that’s about it. Monster Radar doubles as a map app with Peta Maps built in it.

While it wasn’t a full price Vita game, Monster Radar was 2,780 ($35) yen at launch. Now, it’s like 900 yen ($11). On November 21, Monster Radar Plus will be released for free on Japan’s PlayStation Store. Sony plans on monetizing Monster Radar Plus through monthly missions, some will be free and others will be paid DLC.

Well….Im sure people who actually paid for it arent that happy with the news….But it is nice of sony to give out a free game even if it is this one.
I actually was just looking at current games out there for the Vita, for the USA, and while I did buy Ragnarok Odyssey because it looked to good to pass up  beyond that game there realy isnt anything out id want to spend my money on. I think this is the first time I havent bought a system at launch for sony because the game line up was  not anything id be unhappy living without.

There are other free things on Vita.

Yeah? I will have to look in to this then….Thank you for mentioning that..Would you happen to know exactly what? free thingies that is

Frobisher Says! – Think of it as a Warioware style minigame collection. Trophies are coming for that in an update later. There’s a pack of extra minigames for $1.99 that’s optional to get. Given the game was so funny with it’s British style humor, and it was a free game that I would have been okay paying $1.99 for anyway. So yeah, personally love this one.

Treasures of Montezuma Blitz (not sure if that’s exactly the title, something like that) – It’s a match 3 puzzle game (if you know the series it’s like that) uses obvious freemium grabs. However, the last update they did made it a lot better. You can also play just fine without ever paying for anything. Got a trophy update along with thoe game improvements too.

Treasure Park – Hard to explain, sort of like Minesweeper.

AR Games (Cliff Diving, Fireworks, Table Soccer) – Have yet to play the soccer one. Cliff Diving is okay, Fireworks is the same thing. Cliff Diving has $.99 DLC for more cliffs.

Europe and Japan have more than NA right now. NA is still waiting for Wake Up Club, I don’t know much about it. Ecolibrium, I don’t know much about it either since it’s not out in NA. There’s apps and stuff too, like for Twitter, YouTube and such.

            Your very informed!
Thank you for telling me about these games. I’ll have to look at them when I get a vita

Cool, now if I could get free hamburgers in real life, I’d be able to live worry free.
