Tales Of Xillia Has Its Own Credit Card, Doesn’t Accept Payments In Gald

From [email protected] to Love Plus, credit card companies keep going after the otaku market in Japan. Now, there’s a Tales of Xillia 2 credit card.

Sign up and you get a paltry sticker sheet. Yawn.

Sumitomo Mitsui just released the Tales of Xillia 2 card in Japan. To attract more members and get them to spend they’re offering a set of three bookmarks if you sign up before February 28, 2013. Spend 10,000 yen ($123) or more before then and you also get a pocket watch as a gift.

The Tales card has other spending "bonuses" like getting a set of washcloths for 200 points. Right, but you have to charge 1,000 yen for 1 point so you’ll need to spend at least 200,000 yen ($2460) to get the towels. Accumulate 400 points (i.e. spend 400,000 yen) and you get a book cover. Yeah?

  • How ironic that there is a ToX2 credit card and at the same time the MC of said game has a mighty debt~

    • Of course. What better way to appreciate the game than to be in just as big a debt as its main character, from all the spendings for those premium prizes?

      • Just sucks that you can’t go on a sexy adventure with cool people to pay it off xD

  • thundergodCN

Well Otakus are weak against most elements like fire, ice, lightning and holy. But anime and games are the bane of their existence.

And this is the best credit card.

    • I dunno, I’d rather have this as my credit card.

      • neocatzon

        Your money will burn. Literally.

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I hope Midas won’t come near you lol.^_^

    • MrTyrant

I would rather have a Zeta Gundam credit card because….I…I am man!!

      • MrSirFeatherFang

        I am Gundam

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

If only the name of the owner is Tohru Furuya lol.^_^

  • Go2hell66

    WOw a whole sticker sheet!!!

  • Well, why not, I guess. I mean, Batman had his own credit card once. …Even though many prefer to not remember that.

    • Yeah, I remember that. Nostalgia Critic’s response was hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqon0nVWA4A

    • Aoshi00

I just re-watched all 4 movies on the Anthology blu-rays a year ago and don’t even remember that scene, maybe it was because I was watching them in Jpn lol..

I just started Xillia 2, love the chubby cat too :)

  • SerendipityX

Thats a great group pic. They all look like a big, happy (weird) family~

    • Darkrise

Well of course, they’re happy that you’re spending in their name.

  • Darkrise

    Geez talk about taking advantage…

  • asch999

Be Careful People, Ludger will use your CC stealthily to pay his debt

    Edit :
I want that Milla and Jude CoverBook :(

  • I think the chubby cat is growing on me.

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

…….you are starting to sound like Ishaan lol. <.<''

  • Will they use that to pay of their debt?

  • Elvick

I don’t see the big deal. Go spend cash anywhere, you get crap in return for it. Sans places with reward point cards.

Whether the actual pay out is good compared to other ones is the real question. Not how much it “costs to buy a towel”. Since you’re getting it free, by using the card naturally.

No one in their right mind actually goes out and spends money to get points to get something with them. They buy what they want like a normal person, and accumulate points. Then they see what they can get with said points.

I’ll never understand the distaste for things like this. If it’s not competitive in it’s payout that’s one thing, but as a general idea it’s fine by me.

    • Barrylocke89

As long as reward programs like these aren’t being used to hide hideous interest rates, then I completely agree with you.

  • Hidayat246

    T_T lulu is sooooooo… FAT!!!!!!

  • My Winnie the Pooh Debit Card by the same company seems normal in comparison XD

  • Brandon001

    …..i like it

  • I’d have thought the watch would be the prize for spending over $2K.  Seems a bit backward there.  I guess the washcloth can be used to wipe away the tears as whoever gets it thinks, “I just spent $2,000 and all I got was this cloth…”

I am now aware of how painfully plain and unfulfilling he design on my credit card is.

Out of all of the millions of anime designs on a credit card I would love to have, I had to have a plain water design.

This must be rectified. Of course, much of these credit cards are made in Japan. And… I don’t know of a single Japanese credit card that is possible to get without a Japanese bank account. And that means going to Japan and having some nice identification at least.

  • Learii

i always want an anime or game credit card

  • wfgodbold

    I don’t think that’s a watch.

It’s a compact mirror in the shape of a pocket watch. Which is considerably less cool.

  • Callonia

2460$ for a book cover? Do not want. Oh wait i could just buy an airplane ticket over the pacific ocean.. problem solved. While having a vacation to boot.

  • Maumac77

Would love to have it as my first credit card, but I find it hard to believe that I could ask for it at my chase bank here in California lol

  • 果林

I’d be the new cool kid in town if i used that to buy stuff in a anime convention

  • MiniTaurus

game themed cc is cool but the pic above is too crowded ><
