Grandia Lives On Through Picotto Knights Crossover

By Spencer . December 3, 2012 . 2:48pm

Picotto Knights is a beat ‘em up action RPG kind of like Dragon’s Crown (without salacious sorceresses) or Capcom’s Dungeons and Dragons arcade games. The twist is you can get costumes to customize your knight like a dinosaur and starting on December 6 different Ragnarok Online classes.

Lord Knight, Champion, Magician, Swordman, and Super Novice skins are coming to Picotto Knights. Grandia crossover items are also in the works. Players will be able to dress up as main characters like Justin, Feena, and Sue.

Picotto Knights was released as a free download in Japan. Gung Ho Online Entertainment America will localize the title and release it in North America next year.

    Ryudo and Millenia, please.

      This ^
Ryudo and Millenia is still my personal fav in grandia series (what happened to grandia anyways ? haven’t heard from it since 3-4 years)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO This world is cruel =(, why do people who could make a difference die out so quickly

      • VenerableSage

Grandia III was kind of meh (being too trope-y and cliched didn’t help any, nor did basically reusing a ton of assets from Xtreme), Grandia Online was shut down months ago, and the series’ creator passed away last year.

Honestly, I don’t really see much of anywhere to go with all of that.

(Also, thirding Ryudo and Millenia. I know that G1 is supposed to have the best story, etc., but Grandia II is like my most played game on my Dreamcast, just from how great it was.)

        • Robert Leonardi

well the grandia that i played was 1, 2 and Xtreme, was fond of the first two, was disappointed in Xtreme

          • VenerableSage

I’ve played most of the games (briefly started 1, beaten 2 and 3, like 33% through Xtreme) and Grandia II is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Sure, Xtreme added small hidden areas (increasing exploration), let you steal items from enemies and bosses, and added player combinations moves, and 3 gave you Aerial Combos, but everything else really pales in comparison.

(Part of me really wishes that we could get a revamp of Grandia II with up-to-date visuals and the IP Wheel / Battle Engine updates from Xtreme and III (the aforementioned stuff)… Definitely wishful thinking though. :[ )

I’m kind of confused about Online, because I thought it was shut down, but there was an (official) website that had some kind of very recent date on it. (I have no clue what it was for though.)

          • VenerableSage

The website for Online seems like it’s just a generic message, probably stating that it’s been shut down. The date (9/28) coincides with an article stating that, so…

          >G1 is supposed to have the best story
That’s news to me. And I’ve played both 1st and 2nd game.

          • VenerableSage

Well, what I should have said was that the majority of people I’ve personally heard comment about it have said it’s got the best story/storytelling/characters, not that it was objectively the best. My fault on that one.

Oooh. Anything with “Grandia” interests me. Here’s to hoping for Liete, and maybe Mullen and Leen.

I would anything for lo-er…Grandia. And I -will- do that!

  • PreyMantis

For some reason, the video gave me a Theatrhythm vibe…
    Anyway, that was awesome!

Really hope that GungHo gets all these neat cross overs in the NA release.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

A new Grandia game would be nice.^_^

  • puchinri

    That looks cute and fun.

Also, for how long has Team Gajet existed and/or when did they start calling themselves that? (Or is this probably a one time thing?)

  • Göran Isacson

Ha ha wow, FIRST Grandia game outfits? That’s some powerful nostalgia-bombs they’re dropping… and if I played this I would totally repeat their lines in all their awful dubbed voice actor glory.

  • Tianyu Wei

Grandia 2 by far was the better Grandia… Grandia 3 while had better battle, and looks better was EXTREMELY short. It was like a 12 hour jRPG… shortest of ANY jRPG i’ve EVER played.
