Huh, So Monster Monpiece Is Actually A Card Game

By Spencer . December 5, 2012 . 1:16am

When Compile Heart announced Monster Monpiece they said it was a card battling game, but all we’ve seen so far is the "extreme love" system. Poking, rubbing, and touching the Vita’s screen fires up the seal mascot, Hotton, who alters the monster cards.

Players drag and drop cards on to a field. There are four kinds of cards in Monster Monpiece and not all of them are monsters. Neptune from the Hyperdimension Neptunia series shows up as a cameo if you reserve the game.

Monster Monpiece comes out on January 24, 2013 in Japan.

could have been nice, but as it often is with complie, it seems mediocre.
fanservice can work if deep gameplay is the core, but here its overkill.

Seems quite slow during the ADV part, and the gameplay shown so far seems not that appealing yet…

It’s a little shameful to admit, but there was just something about the way the monsters’ breasts moved that…uh… mesmerized me.

Oh, the tagline is pure gold: “私たち、アナタのために ひと肌脱ぎます。” I think it means “We will shed our human forms for your sake.”

…Of course, I should also remind that Rikai-chan translates “肌脱ぎ/肌脱ぐ” as “being topless”/”to undress the top” (or tangentially, “skin exposure”). Unless there are more relevant definitions I missed.

If you read the hito as 一, 一肌脱ぎます means to pitch in and help. From what I can tell from reading around, the idea is that it means helping, but not putting your full strength into it, since you only took like a layer of clothing off, instead of 諸肌を脱ぐ where you strip to your waist and really put your back into it.

Anyway, given who and what we’re talking about, it’s probably a double entendre talking about stripping off 一肌 (a layer) of clothing one by one through the rubbing and whatnot.

Bravo. It makes too much sense, even.

Hah, they know Neptune is their only good series so they keep bringing her up in other games. Same thing happened with Mugen Souls.

God damn it; I watched that a couple of times and my incompetency at Japanese has me terrified I won’t be able to play it.

I’m excited for this game; I haven’t played a card game since I was in middle-school (yu-gi-oh) and for some reason this game just really seems like a great re-entry to the genre. I love the art-work, the colors are great, and personally I think this looks like a ton of fun.
But to throw $80 on chance… egad!

My Vita is going to burst into flames from all the rubbing……….and perhaps my clothes too.
