Castlevania: Mirror of Fate Trailer Shows A Tearful Goodbye For Trevor

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has a release date in North America—March 5th. Alongside the announcement, Konami also released a new trailer for the game, featuring a tearful goodbye between Trevor Belmont and his family, as he sets out to Dracula’s castle to find his now-vampiric father, Gabriel:

Simon, who is featured in the trailer as Trevor’s son, is also a playable character in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate (see him here). Simon’s story takes place in a different time period, once he’s older. In addition to Trevor and Simon, you’ll also get to play as Alucard and Gabriel.

Producer, Dave Cox, shared with Siliconera that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is being designed as an action-combat platformer with an emphasis on exploration, but isn’t a “Metroidvania” game.

What a terrible night to have a curse…

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

The morning sun has vanquished the horrible night.

  • Brandon Robinson

    Robb Stark!

    • Barrylocke89

      My thoughts exactly.

  • Arla

Playing Lords of Shadow right and really enjoying it. It’s been getting better and better as I play and not worse so I’m genuinely excited for Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadows 2.

  • Prinnydoom

    Looking forward to it ^__^

  • Matthew Ponthier

God I need to get Lord of Shadows already!
Anyways, I hope the lack of mouth movement is only for this trailer, because that was kind of disturbing hearing voices but not seeing their mouths move.

  • Shadowman

Yeah I might get this game.

  • Göran Isacson

Not sure if I enjoy the lack of mouth movements and Sypha turning from an active protagonist to just a background character, but I guess that there’s always the potential for her to become more magically capable in Simon’s storyline?

Okay so probably not, but I can hope.

March fifth can’t come soon enough.T_T I need some Castlvenia game here.T_T

  • Ethan_Twain

This trailer really didn’t show an awful lot of anything… all it did was reinforce that yes, rebooting Castlevania with Scottish accents was an excellent idea.

  • PreyMantis

It’s not the biggest of deal, but dang those mouths XD

  • Project 2501

On the one hand, it’s really neat to see a Western developer actually take the 3DS seriously. On the other, this game looks kinda… iffy.
