Inevitability, something Capcom fighting games are cursed with. Extra versions, their curse, their inevitability…Well, can’t say I didn’t see this coming.

    • Dynami

Yeah dude, balance patches are totes a Capcom thing and not an every-competitive-multiplayer-focused game thing.

      • Oni-G

A bit said that they could have originally done this before the end of 2012. But business is business. And no, not every competitive multiplayer focused game does this. While not a Capcom thing, it doesn’t change anything that we’ve already experienced.

        • Ty Austin

Right, they could have done it like BlazBlu, where every version they charge for.

They specifically stated they were planning to release it in Dec 2012, but they decided to push it back until next year because they felt they could still do more with it. I’ll take that over a rushed product anyday.

Actually, BB only really released one rehashed version which was BBCSE. The original CS was a sequel (and CSII was an update, though Arc did charge us for the DLC characters). As a 2D fighting game series it suffers the problem of what most (real) 2D fighters have which is reusing the same sprites.

I have BB, BBCS (with purchased DLC) BBCSEX sitting on my shelf and I’ll probably end up buying the newest iteration. The only notable changes they make are to the cast, not the system mechanics. When I start a new version, all I need to do is look up what changes they made to my character. Otherwise, it’s played mostly the same.

Games that reuse sprites like SFA for example, include entirely new gameplay changes (cps chaining, alpha counters, custom combos, izms, for example.) None of which I’ve seen in a new BB version.

Go on dustloop, the forum sections remain exactly the same, they don’t add a new one and push the old one back. People simply make a thread for each character noting the balance changes made (just like in any other update.)

Oh yeah, I totally agree with the very little change in the BB series. It just seems like you have said that you paid for several versions of BB, when I think there have really only been 1 (or 2 since BBCS has no real change to the overall mechanics).

But in Blazblue Chrono Phantasma sprites now have been redrawn, new movesets, new astrals replacing the lame versions, new costumes, an x factor that can stop time depending on your health and characters have 1/4 of his unlimited like Blood Kain that never drains, Hazama’s life steal ring etc.

You’re seriously gonna try and argue that PATCHING a multiplayer game is somehow bad. Just give up.

Using his logic, it’s a GOOD thing the Naruto Storm multiplayer wasn’t patched.

You do know at least this is a free balancing update. I don’t believe they are actually going to be rehashing this one only cause the game is half Namco.

    • Cellsai

Tell that to Marvel vs Capcom ;D

      • http://www.facebook.com/igilman Ian Gilman

Since when has Marvel honestly given a shit about their property when it has come to video games? They’ll let that be free reign abused all day and night lol

    • Ty Austin

Other than the characters, Namco has nothing to do with this game. Capcom was given free reign other than the fact they checked in with Namco every so often.

They’re not charging anything because ultimately they aren’t adding anything new to the game.

Still need to pick this up on Vita. It’s the only system I have a desire to play it on. I enjoy playing fighters on Vita more than on consoles for some reason. I think it’s since, I can just take it anywhere in the house and not be locked down in my living room. Where I don’t always want to be.

    • HassanJamal

Reason why I love the vita is that console experiences feels more fresh playing on the vita :D Now Im interested in fighters and RPGs that werent interesting on consoles!

It´s sad/weird when they have to reassure that its a free update now everytime (but we know why). Also i hope they improve the multiplayer matches for the vita, 4 of 5 matches are always laggy ( or maybe its just me T.T ).

    This game still angers me
