Samurai & Dragons is essentially Kingdom Conquest for the Vita made for Japan. A few months ago Sega refreshed the game by adding characters like Sonic, Bayonetta, and Sakura from Sakura Wars. They’re targeting Valkyria Chronicles and Shining series fans with their latest promotion.

The Special Collaboration 2012 Revival Pack includes characters from both series. You get Valkyria Riela, Alicia, Selveria (two of ’em), Carisa, Maximilian,Imca, Edy, and well the list goes on and on. Rick from Shining Hearts, Maxia from Shining Blade, and other characters are in the pack which costs 300 CP until January 9, 2013.

SEGA went on a ridiculous copyright blitz for this?

    • you said it.

    • Luna Kazemaru

What does that have to do with this?

    • TrevHead

Sega’s Marketing dept aren’t a smart bunch are they, considering the amount of free marketing they’ll lose due to many video makers flat out refusing to touch Sega’s games for the foreseeable future.

All for an obscure card game, aimed at existing fans who wont make stupid mistake of mistaking this and older Shining Force games.

  • ReidHershel

SEGA, just….I love Sonic, but please, pleeeeease, release something not Sonic related and from Japan. I am not that big of a strategy fan for Total War and I have this reaaaally bad feeling Aliens is going to be bad.

Just one game: Yakuza, Valkyria Chronicles, Shining Force or Puyo Puyo, anything, please!

    • TrevHead

They seem to be in full HD remake nostalgia mode atm, which is kind of a shame as they are sitting on so many great IP’s, Hell even Capcom throws fans a bone with new games like MM9 now and again.

      • ReidHershel

And the localization of Ace Attorney 5, Monster Hunter 3G, the thought of reviving Darkstalkers, and at least trying to listen to fan feedback.

  • Andar

    Feels incoming.

I actually just got the Valkyria Chronicles Design Archive for Christmas this year, and it has renewed my interest in and respect for the game. There’s a lot I would like to see done with the characters and other ideas developed for the game, considering how much work went into their creation and how well it all turned out. For now though, it all seems lost within the limbo of mobile gaming, in spite of the fact that it got such a strong start as an amazing console game.

    • Kai2591

Yes, I agree. Valkyria Chronicles has a lot of untapped potential. A lot of ideas, stories and characters that can be greatly expanded. Especially the first game.

      • Andar

Not to mention the world itself. The Gallian Chronicles portion of Valkyria Chronicles felt very self-contained and I felt that in many ways it had just the right amount of content, but it also set the stage for an entire country filled with interesting tales to tell. It’s made very clear that Max is only representing a small part of the empire, and that Gallia itself was a rather small country in the scheme of things.

        • Kai2591

Exactly. They’ve only covered mainly Gallia, some on the empire, and wee bit on the federation – and this is just the ‘Europan’ side of the world. Obviously there are many more countries to explore. I also wished they shed more light on the mystery of the valkyrians – put more focus on them and darcsens.

The unique Blitz battle mechanics also has much much more rooms for improvement.

  • NTaiyokun

I’m not the only one who gets irked when crossovers happen as card games, right?

    • raymk

At the very least they could be visual card games like that Valkyria chronicles one, but nope!

  • ragingmerifes

    Oh, Zeri. <3

  • Bloodios

*LOL* I mistook the title for Valkyria Chronicles and Shining series coming to the Vita and was flat out disappointed by what I saw. Silly me.

    • shogunknight

Dont blame you, i felt the same way too :(

    • I know that feeling… T^T

    • Kai2591

      Same here man…same here…
Especially the Valkyria part for me.

      • Tianyu Wei

ppl didn’t buy enough copies of VC 2… blame yourselves ;x

        • Kai2591

    • Peeka Chu

We’d never see it in the West anyway. Though I’m hopeful one of these new little JRPG publishing houses somehow nabs the rights for a game or two out of SEGA’s hands – who don’t publish anything in the West unless it has Sonic slathered on it.

  • TheInternetNomad

Valkryia Chronicles on Vita would be great..

  • Angeru_Lito

Why isn’t the Sonic turned into a bunch of lame card games instead huh Sega! now that X COM is more popular maybe you should give VC another try? no? anything?… another card game … oh.

  • Man I sure do want to give one of those shining games a try.

  • almostautumn

    …And my heart shatters again.

    Localize VC3, damn it!

  • Göran Isacson

I should have known better than to hope this would be a game where characters talk and fight and do things, not cards. I should have known better…
