Meet Fire Emblem: Awakening’s Marth, Emmeryn And Sully

By Ishaan . January 7, 2013 . 11:55am

Nintendo have shared three more profiles of characters from Fire Emblem: Awakening, including Marth, the protagonist from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, who seems to have returned for the game. Take a look at the profiles below.

Appearing in Fire Emblem Awakening as a masked knight, Marth carries the legendary Falchion sword and appears out of nowhere to save Chrom and the other Shepherds.

Emmeryn from Fire Emblem Awakening is the holy ruler of Ylisse and Chrom’s older sister. She is gentle and kind and believes in peaceful negotiation even when her kingdom is threatened by the Plegia invasion.

Sully, a no-nonsense, capable Shepherd who is admired by the other Ylissean women for her strength.

Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released on February 4th in the U.S. and sometime in April in Europe. The game features the return of several elements found in previous Fire Emblem games, such as the marriage system, My Unit feature, and world map. You can check these out here.

CANNOT WAIT!!! Lucky Americans you get it at Febuary, whilst we Europeans have to wait till April T_T

    • fireemblembeast

Yeah so sorry you guys always have to wait longer :/ My heart goes out to you <3
Maybe like with Tales of Graces f, Europe will have a better edition of this than NA! Hopefully…I see that as a fair compromise.

  • Ayaka

    Dat Marth.

Hype will be the cause of my death someday, I swear.

  • Zexill

That’s gotta be a chick and not Marth… -.- That’s not even how he holds his sword.

  • StarWarudo

Would the caption beneath Marth’s picture be a spoiler? Either way, looks like I’m gonna have to buy a 3DS for this one. Been forever since I last played a Fire Emblem game.

    • Suicunesol

Not a spoiler. Just a little starting background information.

You’ll know the spoiler when you see it.

  • I’ve only played Sacred Stones but I’m SO excited for this one. Can’t wait!

    • Ethan_Twain

In many ways, this game is a sequel to Sacred Stones. Many features of that game, such as the world map, support levels, and combat animations that aren’t terrible are returning in this game after being absent in all the releases since then.

Well, with one exception. I may not have cared much for Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, but damn those combat animations were slick.

      • Suicunesol

Terrible combat animations? Where were those?

I actually really detested the animations in Shadow Dragon compared to the previous games. They were not really genuine 2D. They were more pseudo 3D that felt a little stiff.

        • Ethan_Twain

It is my judgement that of the three Fire Emblem games released outside of Japan since Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn had horrid clunky combat animations.

I loved the Shadow Dragon animations though. It took me FOREVER to figure out for certain if they were 2D or 3D. Looked great (in my eyes) though, so it didn’t really matter :)

          • Blazkn

Yeah, PoR and RD had terrible animations, not only clunky but also slow as heck.

But I can’t say I really like the ones in Shadow Dragon (and Shin Monshou no Nazo). Well, they didn’t give me eyecancer, but felt kinda bland…

          • キロ

Radiant Dawn looked nice to me, but maybe it is because I had Path of Radiance to compare it to XD The character models at least looked nice, I thought! Shadow Dragon felt very bland, since there did not seem to be features unique to the character I thought. ^^

          • AlexanderPappas

I expected Shadow Dragon to be bland in many different ways. Such as story and game play (every chapter was seize). the reason why I thought it would be bland is because even though it’s a fire emblem game on DS which I had been waiting for, it was still a remake of an NES game so there wasn’t much they could do about that. As for the animations, I definitely see what they were trying to go for since it was kinda reminiscent of the GBA game’s battles, but they didn’t quite get it right. As for Awakening… I’m sniping that off store shelves on day one because I can’t contain the hype!

  • Marth’s pose looks almost like a mirror image of Chrom’s. I wonder if that’s a coincidence.

    • puchinri

I felt like a lot of anything shown of those two were very mirrored images in some way or another. Kind of curious too.

    • Suicunesol

Well, Marth and Chrom have the same sword. Is that a coincidence too?

      • And the same hair color. Even the boots they wear are pretty similar in style! The mystery thickens?

        • Leonardo Duarte

Many “noble” characters/protagonists have blueish hair. See that, it seems that just Eliwood and his offspring are the ones whose are different.

Maybe a reference to the blue blood theory?

    • Yvonne Tsang
    • ForteWily

There is a reason for that, but anything more would be spoiling.

  • $39420547

i love Fire Emblem and Awakening seems to raise the bar higher so this is day one for me

  • Blazkn

The game that made me buy a 3DS… can’t wait!

I hope it can be some kind of “revival” for the series in the West like it was in Japan (maybe i’m being too optimistic, since the situation there was not half as bad as it is here, but well…)

    • キロ

I did not know it was struggling here and abroad. Though, I did wonder why foreign territories did not get the second one on DS?

      • Probably because piracy had killed those kinds of games on DS by then.

        • キロ

The piracy is really that bad? That is terrible…

          • Yep, especially in Europe. R4 killed DS software sales there.

  • Ace

Y halo thar buttsecks! I’ze be Marth!

  • puchinri

Emmeryn and Sully sound pretty awesome, and Sully especially looks pretty cool. I may have to try a female and a male route, so I can marry Chrom and her.

  • Sonny Reyes

Yeah Fire Emblem to the maximum of awesome! Does anybody think that Chrom should be in next Smash Bros? Need more Fire Emblem to the roster!

About Marth, well, I won’t say a word ‘cuz my friend spoiled to me. Can’t wait to buy it!

  • Now if they ever get around to rereleasing Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu, then I can die happy. At least some of the characters are DLC for this game.

  • Masengan

That version of Marth reminds me of Judas.

  • Göran Isacson

My body is ready for Sully. For some reason I just thought you all should know that.

  • THRINE-4

Even if they’re avoiding spoilers for ‘Marth”s background information, it’s wrong and misleading to confidently claim he’s Marth unless it’s proven. I remember that the Japanese version of the background information merely hinted ‘a mysterious person that may be/looks like Marth’. The way this background information stated is like confirming he is undoubtedly the Marth.

Yes, I do know the spoilers and that spoilers are not supposed to be revealed publicly here, but this is clearly misinformation.

    • Barrylocke89

Does the mystery person claim to be Marth? If not, then I agree. But if SO, then it’s perfectly fine to call them Marth in the promotion info.
