Plesioth Returns For Fun And Games In Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Everyone’s best friend, Plesioth, is back in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and Capcom have posted a profile of the wyvern along with new screenshots. Check it out below.

Plesioth is one of the few monsters that dates all the way back to the very first Monster Hunter game. And now it’s back to cause trouble again in MH3U with a few underwater twists! Btw, the Green Plesioth is coming along too.

Back in the first few games, there was no underwater combat, so this Piscine Wyvern was always safe from melee attacks when it was submerged – and this turned out to annoy many hunters worldwide and drag out many quests as they often went out of reach of Blademasters. Well, no more of that! Now we jump into the water and keep the fight going without interruptions. Of course, the Plesioth knows we’re coming now, so it has prepared an interesting set of moves for the underwater battle.

Aside from the regular tail swipes and water jet moves, which it also performs on land, the Plesioth can now charge at its targets at full speed underwater, jump out of the water vertically (which causes some pretty decent splash damage on its way down) and it occasionally tries to catch you with a single tail slap that is really fast and strong.

Another interesting feature of the Plesioth is that it will often shoot water at you if you take too long to jump in the water. This is one of the moves that was present in past MH games and returns now as a reminder of past nightmares. Speaking of which, the infamous “hip-check” move is back too!

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be released in March in the U.S. and Europe.

    • d19xx

      dat hip check…

  • StarWarudo

This is the reason why I have an irrational fear of deep bodies of water.

    • Spirit Macardi

It’s not irrational if one of these is swimming in it >.>

  • As long as the hit detection is good, Plesioth shouldn’t be a problem.

    • Zal_Yagun

since Tri, hitboxes are alot better, underwater boxes was still off though

  • Haseyo

Worst part is….I recall hearing it’s better, but still a little stupid.

And now, the nightmare will continue,T_T

  • sebastianandresparraguezcruzat

The Hip-Check move was a pain in the ass when I equiped blademaster´s weapons without a blocking move in MHFU…but overall the Plesioth was always pretty easy to defeat

  • Crimson Tiger

    Damn….where’s the kirin!

    • ikr like that godly elemental resistance armor xD, but yea its fun fighting kirin

  • gamefreak86

Haha omg. Fuck this guy. still remember that high rank mission to fight 2 green plesioth. never forget how much I facepalmed myself, then puttin the PSP away until I was ready again.

I wonder how this underwater dynamic will change my gameplay style for hunting horn. Since HH was not in TRI, I never had the chance to feel these changes yet. Before plesioth was pretty easy for us HH users since we had all the time we needed to get out our buffs while he was submerged. I suppose I could still do the buffs as others fight him underwater which will only make my main weapon all the more powerful! really march can’t come any sooner as I will be submerged in both MH and Soul Sacrifice!.

    • im a hh user too, and i swear i just buff up with my songs before entering the boss area, cuz theres no way in hell he’ll let me play my notes in peace, but since i play the notes earlier, i lose them in like 1min into the fight xD, welp time to invest in some armor with flute expert skill

      • MediaMindControl

Hey fellow HH user! I do the buffs before entering the room but it is imperative to learn to do the buffs during the fight. You can use a lot of them to dodge attacks or fall away to start a song like hit with red fall back with blue then hit the white for example. It really adds a lot of depth to the weapon and it is been my main since it’s introduction due to that! Not to mention how damn cool the frog horn is that I used throughout most of the game mostly because it’s got such good support songs!

  • Spider-Man

Hunter-san! My hips are moving on their own!

  • ★ Wolfgang Wozniak

That thing was a bastard in MH1.

    • he’s a bastard in freedom unite, along with the green plessy
